Saturday morning breakfast at our new desk. New Year's p[arty photo editing for me (yay!) and work for Vicki (boo!).
It's so much more than a workstation, though.
Two Macs (iMac 24" 3.08 GHz/4 GB RAM/2.5 TB Hard drive (500 internal, 2 external), two printers (laser/inkjet), one extra 19" screen (for Windoze in VMWare), Apple keyboard/mouse (LOVE 'em), KLH & Sony speakers + Pioneer 5.1 sound system (connected to digital TOSlink out on the iMac for SUPERB sound). Hover over the picture for more info.
Strobist info: Nikon SB-28, on shelf behind me, pointed at the wall behind me. Triggered using eBay Triggers. (I played with the camera's shutter speed and the flash's power to get the ambient/computer screen balance. I think the flash was on 1/4 power, camera was at 1/50th or so).
Bike on trainer in front of thunderbolt display, with keyboard on aerobars. Coffee taunts me from just out of reach.
6 computers on/under/above one desk makes it a little messy. see the notes for the breakdown of what's what
My study, at the end of a search-and-destroy cycle. I put it back together about every ten days.
Missing from this shot is the PowerBook G4 12" laptop, which I often use simultaneously with the other two machines. Sometimes I have artifacts that I'm writing about pulled up on two screens while writing on a third. Sometimes I only use two machines. And sometimes I use the G4 to play DVDs on the larger screen while grading on the MacBook.
My old, custom made computer circa 2005 blue screened me, so this time, I opted for a sleek new Dell. New to the left, old to the right. It makes for a very crowded desk!
My desk's current incarnation. Got a few photos and a vid shoot later this afternoon, hence all the camera stuff. As well, I'm fiddling with a few application thingies to make life around here easier - hence all the computers.
Life ain't dull sometimes....
My desk at Harvard. It's a little cramped, and the lighting is no good (I miss my window), but I love my screens. All 3 machines are connected to the iMac's keyboard and mouse via Synergy.
My current workspace with the new 17" Unibody MacBook Pro, Dell 24" LCD and all the bells and whistles. The keyboard and monitor part of the desk are adjustable. The desk was donated from my in-laws soon after I moved to Sweden and is pretty nice.
This desk has been my grail for so long now! I have been wanting it for over two years, and now that it's here I'm thrilled ^^
Posting for the Monday Photo Challenge Group. We were to shoot something at 7 o'clock. I am at work at 7 PM and don't leave until after 7 Am, so I shot my desk. It is cleaner in this picture than it usually is! Not very exciting, I'm afraid.
The only item of particular interest here is my elvis clock, with legs that swing from side to side. Sadly, this is so irritating, i disconnected them. If you would like to visit my desk - perhaps with a group of school children for educational purposes - simply come to my house, go up the stairs, take a left and my room is straight ahead. Looking forward to meeting you!
