Over the last couple months, we've been gearing up for a big campaign in the fall all about God's love for us, our love for Him, and our love for each other.
We call it: LOVE.
The logo will have a wide usage, and needed to appeal to a wide audience: kids, adults, emergents, and seekers.
The biggest challenge was trying to redefine LOVE visually, since our culture's definition of "love" is so far off the mark from the biblical definition.
So here are the different ideas as they progressed, from top left around the curve to our final at the bottom right. This process grew me as a designer, knowing when to be open to feedback, when to accept "design by committee", and when to put my foot down and stand for what I thought was a good idea. I like where we landed, but it was a rough road to get there!
I hope this encourages you as a designer to persevere, be flexible where you need to be flexible, accept criticism, but also be firm when you believe the design is what God desires to be expressed. In other words, designing with Philippians 2 at the heart of it.
