Here's a panoramic photo (hence the weird, fish-eye gaze) of the completed workbench. I've installed pegboard on the right and left wings of the structure, as you can see — one section is white, and one section is brown, for directing children (and adults) to the right storage location for the tool, and for helping them put it back in the right place. The middle section is French cleats spaced out at 5" — this way it's possible to tell children "use only the tools from the white pegboard," or "use only the tools on the pegboards; the French cleat tools are off-limits for this project."
Down on the lower right is a whole series of boards already cut for making French cleat tool-racks. I'm thinking that the first project I do with kids will be "Make a French cleat tool-rack" for an assigned tool. Currently, there are only two such racks, a sort of shelf for the borer bit, and a plywood thingie for set-squares. We only have one set-square currently, but I made room for two.
Wetenschapper Peter-Paul Verbeek gaat in zijn voordracht ’Van kunst tot FabLab: over techniek, filosofie en de kunst van het maken’ in op de relaties tussen kunst, design en technologie.
De lezing is georganiseerd door Stichting Qua Art – Qua Science in het kader van het Trias Innovationis project.
Binnen dit project realiseert kunstenaar Peter de Man een een kunstwerk ter gelegenheid van de nieuwbouw van de Pabo en het Fablab van Saxion (vertegenwoordigd door lector design Karin van Beurden), en in samenwerking met wetenschapper Peter-Paul Verbeek.
