DesignLab was presented with the challenge of creating posters that represent different users based on feedback and data aquired by our UX team. We wanted them to be bold, simple, and effective. Pulling inspiration from my own persona portraits, as well as the work of Paula Scher, we created something unique and eye-catching. One of our designers, Justin Pervorse, created the hand drawn type. To help us keep all this important data in the front of our minds, we hung the posters in one of our most-trafficked rooms of MailChimp HQ. Now, we see and think about them every day.

Amsterdam Light Festival
Amsterdam Light Festival is an annual light art festival in Amsterdam. Artists, architects and (light) designers from all over the world bring their light artworks and installations alive during the festival every winter. The artworks are placed alongside two routes. Each route has their own theme, set of artworks and visitor experience. Water Colors, the boat rout, displays big monumental objects and offers visitors the chance to experience the art from a water perspective. Illuminade, the walking route, shows interactive and innovative installations from upcoming designers in the Plantage neighborhood.
Celebrate winter, with art, light and water!

From Twente with Love
Artist: Randy van Lingen & DesignLab UTwente
Location: Nieuwe Herengracht
At the initiative of the Embassy of Twente, Almelo Promotion and Stadsfonds Almelo, artist Randy van Lingen and professor of social robotics at the University of Twente Vanessa Evers have put together the artwork From Twente with Love.
Evers explains that she works with robots that are being programmed to recognize human behaviour and act accordingly. Our inventions and creations have acquired their own behaviour and personalities in a way. From Twente With Love makes the world of robotics and nature come together in the middle of Amsterdam.
In cooperation with Almelo Promotions, Almelo businesses, Twente Embassy Amsterdam and DesignLab UTwente, Randy van Lingen and a student team formed by Vanessa Evers came together to produce ‘From Twente with Love’ – a fusion of art and technology.
Randy van Lingen comes from Almelo and has been making paintings and other artworks since 1990. His work combines dreamlike painting techniques with his vivid imagination. Recently, Randy has been focusing more on interactive sculptures and installations.

To illustrate the point, he draws my attention to lettering tattooed on his arm.
“It’s from the Greek skeptics,” he says.
“The translation is ‘I am certain of nothing. I’m not even sure I’m certain of that.’ If I believe in anything, it is doubt. The root cause of all life’s problems is looking for a simple fucking answer.”

BDA designed and manufactured these amazing iPhone cases for Starbucks. I just got ahold of them and wanted to show off the awesome design skills of the fabulous designers I work with!
Strobist Info: Profoto D1 500 through white beauty dish at 2 o'clock. White bounce card at 9 o'clock. 3 shots composited.
Where my last upload was amazing, this shot is just for the cars. I was going home and had just 5 minutes with this couple from an Audi S5 Convertible and an Aston Martin Vanquish S. After seeing these two, I spotted a BMW M3 Convertible on a wonderful looking location. Last week was awesome for carspotting, so I've got so much shots wich I haven't uploaded yet! Though this shot is not my best, I hope you like it and comment or fave it!

Half of my Monster high dolls and the Bratz my daughters love best and would steal from me if I would let them. I want to make a group stand for the boys to elevate the enough above the girl that their faces can be seen. It will be easy enough to do. I envision it as a piece of thin, narrow lumber, i just have to do it. I'll do the same for the Bratz shelf and my second shelf of MH dolls.
