Here is a shot from the Bollywood Divas night which was part of the Luminato Festival. It was an absolutely awesome night. Each act/performance was top notch and done so well. Suzanne D'Mello of A R Rahman fame was flown in from India to perform her Bollywood hits. Suzanne has a powerful voice. She was unbelievable. Luminato continues I will be attending a dance performance by the Syrian Dance Troupe performing Julia Dorma later on this evening. The Dance Troupe have flown in from Damascus to do 3 shows. I will be attending the last of the 3 tonight with Syed a friend of mine. Have a great weekend folks.

Yes, its one of those smiles she gives you when you try and get something candid and she turns right into your camera and then smiles.
This probably has to be the first ever square crop in my entire photostream. I don't like square crops, i print all of my images 12 by 8 and i cannot afford to crop square since my printer cannot print large squares.
Nevertheless, i decided to make one exception. I have different printing ideas for this image anyways.

To contrast with the chill, designer lifestyle of the last male shoot, I decided to shoot these photos downtown. I wanted it to be hip, active and urban.
I knew I wanted the Hawaii Theatre marquee in the background, I just didn't know how hard it would be to properly light and compose a shot with it.
The background was littered with people and cars, so instead of hiding them from the shot, I made them part of the action using a slow shutter speed. The monotone look helped the model stand out.
And I'll say it now: it is tough to light African American models with only two small strobes! But, once you figure out the perfect combination, it's easy.

Today was the first time that MCV has ever tried the hotdogs a Desi Dogs. Right before lunch time, Bril and I "persuaded" her to give it a try. She had the turkey dog but I had to have their Polish . . .

If not for the self-timer, how would photographers ever get clicked?
Took this at a wedding, after some ceremony and before some other ceremony. It was at some point that I wondered if there were any decent pictures of me at all. So.
This morning I tried to find some pics taken during my first visit to Barcelona. No joy as yet.
However, I came across a bunch of slides taken in Mallorca in the summer of 1978, a mere 44 years ago. I did remember that I was on the island with my parents and Desi but could not remember when. I will scan a few more but, here are a few that I was glad as well as upset to see.

Messier 33

Messier 33 is a low-luminosity flocculent spiral galaxy at 3 million light-years in Triangulum. It is catalogued also as NGC 598 and known as Triangulum Galaxy. The galaxy is the smallest spiral galaxy in the Local Group and it is believed to be a big satellite of the Andromeda Galaxy.
M33 has two asymmetric faint arms, and an interstellar medium rich in gaseous filaments that extends for about 7 kpc. Although the inner disk is relatively undisturbed, the northern arm is less regular in shape than the southern one. M33, is a bulge-free galaxy with only two optically luminous dwarf galaxies believed to be its satellites: AndXXII (McConnachie et al., 2009; Martin et al., 2016) and Pisces VII (Martínez-Delgado et al., 2022), discovered by me in 2020. However, given its mass, ΛCDM cosmological simulations predict that M33 should host a larger number of satellites, at least 10.
The neutral hydrogen (HI) disk is three times larger than the star-forming disk and is clearly warped. The outer disk has the same inclination as the inner one with respect to our line of sight but the position angle of the major axis changes by about 30 degrees compared to the inner disk and is more aligned with the M31 direction. While M33's undisturbed inner disk indicates that no major collisions between M31 and M33 or between M33 and a satellite have occurred in the past, the distortion could be the result of a flyby about 9 billion years ago. Timing assessments make this scenario unlikely and favor the hypothesis of a first fall of M33 in the region of influence of M31.
This is a 50% of the original raw version. Some data gaps in the filters have been surrogated with Sdss and Pan-STARRS data.

When Desi decided to fight her last battle at my place she brought over many of her things. Amongst them a big album of prints filled exclusively with pictures of Kitty, me and herself. She obviously thought them to be especially meaningful to her.
For almost three years now it sat at the bottom of the coffee table and for no specific reason today I decided to browse through them.
Have selected a few (smiles and tears intermingled) and will scan, process and likely post them.
This from a rare instance when I attempted a fashion shot with her. From 1980's I think.
