Myanmar embarked on a democratic reform in 2010 and eased immigration restrictions significantly in 2011. This trip was realised as a response to the drastic change in the tourism situation in Myanmar. I am worried that the change in 2010 would be reverted by the coup in 2021.
Shwedagon Paya is probably the most famous temple in Myanmar. It is located on a hilltop in Yangon. This photo was taken from the inside of a covered stairways to the stupa.

I was also an employee of the NY Telephone company at the time. I was an ESS Tech (electronic switching systems). Mainframe. Pearl Street. My job was to give dial tone to the phones at MSG for the event. Over 10k phones went in.

i like these visually democratic scenes. their lack of human element maybe leaves them flat as far SP goes, but i enjoy them as records of place and time.

Democratic Republic of the Congo: On 22 October 2020, Simon Mwenu wa Mwenu teaches plant science to primary school students in Kilunga settlement for displaced persons in Tanganyika Province. Education in most such settlements is either non-existent or takes places in dilapidated structures such as this. Children usually do not have uniforms or exercise books; here the school wall doubles as blackboard.
