I delved into the summer archives for this 600mm shot of a Halloween Pennant dragonfly, taken at the Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge, near Saginaw, Michigan.

Delved into my stock of pre-processed images for this one. I know it's an iconic shot (for good reason) so hardly rare BUT I've not shot the 'Hogwarts Express' before and it was on my bucket list to do. Getting it with it's autumn coat on is definitely a bonus and for someone who hadn't shot trains before it was a bit stressful as you don't get long to shoot at the best spot on the viaduct and certainly not enough to check sharpness & exposure and alter. It was a case of just setting the R5 and going for it. Pretty happy with this one and next time I'm that way I can concentrate on a couple of alternative locations rather than standing with the hoards here. Think I may print this on my new Canon Pro300 printer.

Hope everyone had a great Christmas Day.

This ended up being a cross over between Gone to Ground and Dark City Deutschland, this is actually at the foot of this building here...

With the red on the walls and the sinister light at the bottom of this industrial door, it gave me the impression of dark goings on behind it! So look at this and delves deep into your imagination, that way this image comes to life in the mind.

I hope everyone's week is off to a great start and so as always, thank you! :)

PS: Look at the image whilst listening to this...

Still delving into the archives, more from my favourite place Northumberland. 12th of April and we're off the leash, I've already set my sights on a stunning bird of prey wish me luck.

Delving into to archives today. Lots going on and the weather isn't great. This was taken at the Western Treatment Plant.

I won't be around tomorrow (Sunday) as the power company is doing maintenance and a chunk of our suburb will be without elec-trickery for most of the day.

It was still quite cold... This Hairy-footed Flower Bee (see Bernhard Jacobi commenting below), laden with pollen, brought to mind something I read recently about the body temperature of Bees. Scientists have discovered that the heavier their pollen load, the higher their body temperature rises. In warm weather that can lead to the heat exhaustion of our woolly friends. No fear of that yesterday in the Hortus where Hairy-footer was garnering nutrients from under the hood of Yellow Clary.

A fascinating delve into Gdańsk‘s maritime history, the city‘s Nowy Port Lighthouse was inspired by a long-lost lighthouse built in 1871 in Cleveland, Ohio, in the USA. This one in front of you was built in 1893, the 28-metre tower functioned as a lighthouse, harbour pilot’s tower and time-ball station until it was finally decommissioned in 1984. Its principal claim to fame is its use by German soldiers in September 1939, and it was from the upper floors that a machine gun emplacement fired the very first shots of WWII. Painstakingly restored by an amiable Polish-Canuck the centrepiece of the lighthouse is a time ball, unveiled on May 21, 2008. During its former life it was synchronised to the Royal Astronomical Observatory in Berlin but today it takes its signal from Physikalisch-Technische Bundesanstalt (PTB) in Braunschweig which is broadcast as a DCF77 long-wave radio signal by the European Time Centre in Mainflingen, Germany. Time-balls were originally designed to allow ships’ captains out at sea to synchronise their on-board clocks exactly before they headed back out, the dropping of the ball being the signal to mark the hour - this would allow them to calculate longitude resulting in more accurate navigation.

Delving into the archives. This from the Isle of Lewis in 2017. I do love this little sea cave.

Another delve into the archives for this one. Early turnout to Werneth Low in Hyde to capture the sunrise. You can see how the westerly winds have shaped this single tree over time.

Another delve into the archives with a late night view of the wonderfully long Port Germein jetty, taken under what would have been about a half moon. Looking SSW down the Spencer Gulf toward Port Pirie.

At about 1.67km in legnth, this jetty was at one time the longest jetty in Australia and the southern hemisphere, but the Bussleton Jetty in Western Australia comes in at 1.84km and is Australia's longest jetty.

I may have posted this once before, but this is a freshly edited version.

For me, delving into an inner city is also a journey inward. No matter how deep I dive, I always find myself staring back. Often portrayed by our emeritus politicians as a land full of invasive species, I actually find I am the invader here, full of judgmental thoughts and opinions that wreak havoc on a fragile environment, where so many have lost connection and are struggling to survive. I've always been moved by the simple words on the title page of E.M Forster's novel "Howards End:" "Only connect..."

If only we could.

Location: the inner city of my mind.

Delving into the archives for this one! A B&W edit of an old image. A winter scene on the Peak Forest Canal at Top Lock, Marple. Canal was still mainly frozen over.

Delving through the hard disk tonight looking for a picture and I ended up wading too deeply into some Tehachapi pics from a while back...

Delving into the archives, again. I was surprised to find honeysuckle this late in the season. Thanks for stopping

Europe, Aegean, Greece, Lesvos, Agia Paraskevi, Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production, Production hall.

Let's delve into the archives to visit a particularily intersting industrial museum: Lesvos' Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production.

From the website of the museum: "The Museum of Industrial Olive-Oil Production of Lesvos presents the industrial phase of olive-oil production in Greece. It focuses on the changes brought about by the introduction of mechanical motion on the process of olive-oil production and approaches the contribution of the region's inhabitants to the production process with sensitivity.

Its objective is to showcase Lesbos' industrial heritage in the sector of olive-oil production and incorporate it into the broader architectural, social and cultural context of the period. The Museum is housed in the old communal olive press of Aghia Paraskevi on the island of Lesvos. The buildings and the mechanical equipment have been restored in an exemplary fashion. Thus, you can observe how the equipment functions and how the factory evolved from steam power to diesel engine operation. At the same time, you will acquaint yourselves with daily life at the «People's Machine». "

As can be seen on the left of the frame is the vintage way of transfer of energy from the first phase of industrialization: a central steam engine that drives the production machinery via shafts and belts.

This number 51 of the Lesbos album.

New posting of old stock - a photo I took a few years ago. I have a file of pictures I've prepared for Flickr, but have gotten behind as I add new shots. So, delving into the archives! This Oregon/Dark Eyed Junco was hanging out in our yard.

Delving into the stuff of dreams.

Delving back into the hard drives once more, most of which needed a re-edit on my calibrated monitor...

Delving back in to my London folder to post up more shots. Just a wander along the Thames produces so many decent and interesting shot

Ive more photos of London than I do of the city of Edinburgh that I live in..

Waited until a London bus was in the centre of the bridge.

The foggy forest is filled with an enchanting atmosphere, where dense greenery and towering trees create a mystical backdrop. The misty veil adds an ethereal touch, inviting curious explorers to unravel the secrets hidden within nature's embrace.

Once more delving back into the archives, this shot was taken just over a year ago in the Teign Gorge, situated on the eastern side of Dartmoor. The beautiful little town of Chagford is a couple of miles upstream.

The gorge is owned by the National Trust. On the left is Hannicombe Wood, and high above that, some 1,100 feet above sea level, is an Iron Age hill fort known as Cranbrook Castle.

An uncommonly nice Autumn day, and though the Sun was low in the sky, it enticed lots of insects for a late forage. Here's a Hoverfly, Eristalis tenax, often called a Dronefly. She's delving deeply for some nectar from delicately Pencilled Geranium, Geranium versicolor.

Delving into some old raw files, I found a bunch of shots from a few years ago that hadn't been processed.

Delving into some monochrome with lots of nice, grain.

Delving into the archives again.

Delving into the archives I found this one which I think I didn't post because I had a few good one's that day.
