I somehow managed to move the ISO down to 50 on this one - I have no idea how, I'm always doing that sort of thing. Chuckle. Goes with the territory I suppose. Didn't seem to affect the photograph though it may explain why I had to over expose a little as it appeared a bit dark.....or that could have been the spot metering...... or a comboe......who knows, I just muddle through. Turned out alright in the end and I guess that is wha tmatters :^))
Sigh.
This upright, noble-looking plant with striking flowers is also called the "Blue Knight of Roses".

When you try to find out the history of this plant, you will come across various sagas, myths and legends. A very nice one, which also most closely matches the explanation of the name given above, is a Roman legend. This describes a story of a man who was miraculously saved by a dolphin. When friends tried to find the animal, the man warns them. When this was of no avail, Neptune saved the dolphin by turning it into a flower: the Delphinium.

'Delphiniums are magnificent and every year we enjoy the regal colors. The shades of blue delphinium colors are like no other in the flower garden. You will enjoy the hummingbirds and butterflies that are attracted to the alluring Delphinium flowers.
Growing Delphiniums is not hard but they are heavy feeders, so for the best success be sure to prepare your garden spot with plenty of rich organic matter. After the Delphiniums are done blooming you can cut them back to 3-5 inches. Usually, Delphiniums will give you a second set of blooms. That's a nice bonus for a plant as beautiful as the delphinium...... (from graceful gardens .com) '

I had this labelled as Eragostis spectabilis, but there doesn't seem to be any such flower. There is a genus, Eragrostis, but that's part of the grass family, and this doesn't look like any kind of grass to me. Any identification assistance would be appreciated. A commenter -- see below -- says that this is a Delphinium. I'm going with that, and I thank her.
But it's beautiful! Isn't God a great artist? Thanks for looking.
