Smuggler Cove and the shape it provides, inspires many images. It was evident early on that the clouds were going to deliver, so I made sure to get out to catch them. This time, the better shot was going to come from the cliff in the area rather than from the waters edge.

I made sure to visualize the photo prior and set up my tripod at the right spot. The clouds certainly delivered and their reflections were also terrific. Albeit unexpected, the absolute stillness of the ocean added to the final image.

I thought I'd better finish the year with a beach reflection. I would always end up as a pirate when going to New Year's Eve parties, predictably, and as this coast was famous for wrecking Stand and Deliver seems as obvious choice, by Adam and the Ants. Here's hoping for many more great skies next year. A massive thank you to all who have supported and commented and joked, it has meant so much, Happy New Year to you all, Paul:))

Delivering fish to all the good boys and girls…

At the subway station on Lenox Avenue and 116th Street

Nobody delivers the if-looks-could-kill look quite like a Great Gray Owl. It will stop you dead in your tracks every time. I have always been in awe of these incredible creatures and after spending a few days observing them I can say my respect and admiration for them has grown exponentially.

The church has been delivered to the museum from Kysorychi village in Rokytnivskyi district of Rivnenska Region. It was built by local masters at the end of 18th Century. According to M. Teodorovych, its tops were changes in 1871, and it became one-domed instead of three-domed. Reports of Emperor’s archeological expedition witness that at the beginning of 20th Century (in 1909) the church had to be dismounted due to its emergency state. Although, it was not broken down due to high artistic value of its iconostasis. The iconostasis did not survive until nowadays, except for only four fragments of a unique hewn altar.

As of the moment of purchase there of by the museum in 1978, there were no domes at all. In this connection, they have been re-made according to Polissia typology. The reconstruction was headed by the author of Polissia display, Vergovskyi S.V., inasmuch contours of old ones remained unknown.

This is a religious building; its dimensions are 15.9 x 7.3 m; total area: 116.07 square meters.

This is a building of three rooms, built of pine-tree timbers. The walls are fixed with halving cutouts, made in upper parts of the timbers. The square aisle of the church is its smallest room (4.9 x 4.9), the nave is also square and the biggest one (7.3 x 7.3); the altar room is also almost square (5.3 x 5). The central part is the widest one; its walls extend beyond the side timbers. The church is not covered with planks. The all three floors thereof are tent-shaped. The whole construction is supported by oak piles vidzemky, imbedded around the perimeter.

The premises of the church house a permanent exposition “Religion antiques of Ukraine”. It displays the pieces of arts: icons, triple candleholders, sculptures, church’ bowls of 18th – 20th Century.

The Goldfish was much more likely to have been a castaway in a retention pond than someone's pet. When removed from a fish bowl and dumped in a large pond or artificial lake, a child's Goldfish can grow this big.

It was dark and beginning to drizzle when this was taken but the Goldfish really stands out in the low light. They must be very easy for Ospreys to spot in the artificial ponds and fake "lakes" of many housing developments.

Waterscape #3 of 100 for 2025.

Wybung Head, perched in the Munmorah State Conservation Area, is the kind of place that earns its name. "Wybung" is a local Aboriginal word meaning "Dangerous Sea," and this headland delivers on that promise with sheer, unfenced cliffs and an ocean that is perpetually trying to lull unwary rock fisherman, and photographers, to their grave.

The headland offers 270-degree views of the coastline, and on a clear day, you can see for miles—just don’t get too close to those crumbly edges. Whale watchers and ocean gazers find plenty to love here. However, shade and shelter are entirely absent, and the wind shows no mercy. We visited on a Wednesday afternoon when the temperature soared into the 30s °C and the wind gusted at 40 km/h. I’ve never felt closer to understanding life inside an air fryer.

After edging uncomfortably close to the edge of the crumbly cliffs at the end of the headland for the obligatory heart-stopping views, we decided to head down to the cheerily named Deadman’s Beach. Because why wouldn’t you follow up a stop at "Dangerous Sea" with a jaunt to "Deadman’s Beach"? “Track” is a generous term—it’s more like a gravity experiment with added rocks. From there, we scrambled around the rockshelf to Frazer Beach for a swim. The ocean has never felt so refreshing! The crowd (about a dozen people) wasn’t ideal, but hey, its school holidays, and the nearby campground explains the human influx.

This photo captures Wybung Head itself, though its sheer scale is hard to convey. If you squint, you might spot a post with a lifejacket at the end of the rockshelf to the bottom right of Wybung, a small but poignant reminder of the dangers of the seas at this beautiful place.

Have a great week out there.

Thanks for all the kind comments , they are always greatly appreciated.

Conrail's hotshot Mail-3 was curving along the Juniata River behind a typical six-pack of high-horsepower EMD and GE four axle motors.

The hot trailer trains were a constant sight along the Middle Division on what was once the mighty Pennsylvania Railroad and the less successful Penn Central.

This classic trackage is now unfortunately Norfolk Southern's Pittsburgh Line.

To quote a Judas Priest song, Delivering the Goods, I think that is exactly what's happening here. As the southbound Coastal Classic crosses Upper Trail Lake into the tiny berg of Moose Pass all a passenger has to do is look out the window and be in awe of what they see before them. Unfortunately all days are not like this one especially this summer with the amount of rain we have received. 9.02.22

OK so back the the story......This was taken when mum was nesting. The male signals her with he's amazing call and brings in food. She comes out of the box to enjoy...

Foxfield Railway was built in 1893 to serve the colliery at Dilhorne on the Cheadle Coalfield North Saffordshire. Tackling the formidable 1:19 to 1:26 gradient out of the colliery site at Dilhorne is Robert Stephenson & Hawthorne's Saddle Tank 62 Ugly. (They became known as Uglies due to their short saddle tanks and larger fireboxes. These give them a somewhat ungainly appearance, but they are a more powerful locomotive than the Hunslet Austerities) (Wikipedia)

Barely a month old, WM SD45 #7445 is seen wearing it's as-delivered red, white, and black paint scheme on July 13th 1969 at Port Covington. You'll notice the initial lack of black paint over the grills and radius of the long hood, and the lack of white background behind the road numbers. This engine later became CSX 4618 and was retired circa 2007. It was purchased by the George's Creek Central, but it appears it arrived at Metro East Industries in St. Louis ten years ago and never left. Who knows what the future holds for this one. GB: In 1977 ASEA delivered 6 class Rm locomotives to SJ. They are much like the Rc4 locomotives but have additional weight to have more adhesion. they were meant to succeed the Dm3 locomotives on the ore line and for some time they actually hauled ore trains, but this was not succesfull. In the 198ties they wandered to other freight traffic. in 2023 the 6 locomotives Rm 1257-1262 were sold to TAGAB.

On the picture is an empty ore train Narvik - Kiruna approaching Vassijaure with two Rm-locos hauling, the first of which Rm 1259. the loco in the middle is an Rc4. The weather was freezing cold, worsened by strong winds. To take the picture I took cross country ski's and skied my way to this photo spot.

Good or bad, divine or not, or just a bird doing its thing. This crow let me approach quite a bit before it started cawing and, then, got away. Crows play a prominent role in northern European folklore - the crow was Odin's precious bird. Small wonder that in a Christian perspective its reputation is low. I don't think the crows are bothered by this. If there is a bird that will outlive humanity, it's the crow.
