This magnificent informal landscape garden was laid out in the 18th century by 'Capability' Brown and further developed in the early years of the 20th century by its owner, Arthur G. Soames. The original four lakes form the centrepiece. There are dramatic shows of daffodils and bluebells in spring, and the rhododendrons and azaleas are spectacular in early summer. Autumn brings stunning colours from the many rare trees and shrubs, and winter walks can be enjoyed in this garden for all seasons. Visitors can now also explore South Park (you have to book your visit because of the covid-19 pandemic) , 107 hectares (265 acres) of historic parkland, with stunning views.

Little Tern - Sterna Albifrons
This delightful chattering seabird is the UK's smallest tern. It is short-tailed and has a fast flight. Its bill is a distinctive yellow with a black tip. It is noisy at its breeding colony where courtship starts with an aerial display involving the male calling and carrying a fish to attract a mate, which chases him up high before he descends, gliding with wings in a 'V'.
Its vulnerable nesting sites and its decline in Europe make it an Amber List species. It is also listed as a Schedule 1 species in The Wildlife and Countryside Act.
This bird breeds on the coasts and inland waterways of temperate and tropical Europe and Asia. It is strongly migratory, wintering in the subtropical and tropical oceans as far south as South Africa and Australia.
There are three subspecies, the nominate albifrons occurring in Europe to North Africa and western Asia; guineae of western and central Africa; and sinensis of East Asia and the north and east coasts of Australia.[4]
The little tern breeds in colonies on gravel or shingle coasts and islands. It lays two to four eggs on the ground. Like all white terns, it is defensive of its nest and young and will attack intruders.
Like most other white terns, the little tern feeds by plunge-diving for fish, usually from saline environments. The offering of fish by the male to the female is part of the courtship display.
At the beginning of the 19th century the little tern was a common bird of European shores, rivers and wetlands, but in the 20th century populations of coastal areas decreased because of habitat loss, pollution and human disturbance.
The loss of inland populations has been even more severe, since due to dams, river regulation and sediment extraction it has lost most of its former habitats. The Little Tern population has declined or become extinct in many European countries, and former breeding places on large rivers like the Danube, Elbe and Rhine ceased. Nowadays, only few river systems in Europe possess suitable habitats; the Loire/Allier in France, the Vistula/Odra in Poland, the Po/Ticino in Italy, the Daugava in Latvia, the Nemunas in Lithuania, the Sava in Croatia and the Drava in Hungary and Croatia. The status of the little tern on the rivers Tagus and lower Danube is uncertain.

Happy Holidays to all of you! ♥
This gorgeous scene is from Old Town- Winterland, which I visit as often as possible and wrote about over here on The SLuggle..
The title is from Robert Frost's delightful poem Christmas Trees, which is available here from poets.org.
Rasiglia is a delightful village crisscrossed by numerous small streams coming from the source of the Menotre creek, in the heart of the Umbria region.
A feast for the eyes of those who live there, tourists and photographers who come here to enjoy this spectacle created by nature and the intelligence of men many years ago.

11 days later, the sun is finally out and the sky is blue, most importantly, the birds are happy!
Yup, Houston, nice try, but we don't have a problem!!! 😝😜😛
DELIGHTFUL and often confiding little bird with a proportionately very long tail and seemingly an almost spherical body. The long-tailed Tit is often seen in rather animated flocks; it moves in a rather jerky fashion and has acrobatic feeding habits, which is so entertaining to watch, one of my favorite birds, captured through the kitchen window on a very wet day, hence the 1/30 shutter speed on a I.S.O of 1250.

"GODs BEAUTY is SIMPLY AMAZING !"
Delightfully busy little characters, that are constantly on the move.
I watched this one as it was collecting & caching Hazelnuts, in some parkland in Norway.
Sept 2021.
Not perfect, but it's still a very pretty magnolia flower.
I will have to wait at least a month for them to bloom again.
Beaumontia grandiflora,
growing adjacent to one of the entrances of Mt. Coot-tha Botanic Gardens in Brisbane. Unfortunately, what I had hoped would be an afternoon of photography, was cut short by rain.
Delightfully goofy, sometimes naughty, ninja stealthy and faster than a speeding bunny! In Grand Forks, ND.
These delightful silvery-grey and white birds have long tails which have earned them the nickname 'sea-swallow'. They have a buoyant, graceful flight and frequently hover over water before plunging down for a fish. They are often noisy in company and breed in colonies. The common tern is the tern species most likely to be found inland.
What they eat: Fish. (Courtesy RSPB).
Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it’s much appreciated 👍

When these adorable Brown-hooded Parrots made their appearance with their raucous chatter and 'delightful antics'...they certainly won my heart. They gave us many entertaining moments rain or shine.
Thank you for your visit and comments...have a wonderful day!
Pied Wagtail [Motacilla alba]
This little beauty arrived at a recently filled puddle with one thought - to have a bath. Unfortunately, several seagulls, huge big monsters to this wee guy, and a veritable horde of noisy starlings also had the same idea. The wagtail was disturbed, quite a few times, before he eventually had the puddle to himself. Very rarely, do I see these wee birdies standing still like this. He was checking the periphery for any other in-comers before committing to his ablutions.
A delightful wee birdie!

The day started out nice and sunny and the robins had a delightful time dining on crabapples right after dawn even though the temperature was well below freezing.
