Another Delft scene from the back of the church and unsure exactly where in town but had to get this shot of one of one of my favorite beers, Hertog Jan from Arcen where I sometimes stay when visiting my companies factory in Geldern Germany, it is a small brewery that really isn’t well known outside of its region except to those lucky to have discovered it.

Whatever your beer pleasure get used to “Tiny Heinies” as we always called them, for a Canadian its like drinking beer shooters so always had to ask for groot beer when you hit the bar.

There are large swathes of Delft completely preserved from its beginnings but also large parts that have been extensively rebuilt like the areas of fire of the 16th century when over 2300 houses, businesses and church properties burned to the ground or during the 17th century a hundred years later a massive gunpowder explosion destroyed a full 1/3 of the city.

I took this on Sept 17th, 2017 with my D750 and Nikon 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6 Lens at 42mm 1/20s, f/16 ISO 100 processed in LR, PS +Lumenzia, Topaz , Luminar and DXO

Disclaimer: My style is a study of romantic realism as well as a work in progress

Photo: Delft Town Hall, Netherlands.

Built in 1618-1620 around the remains of the town hall, which burned down in 1618, to a design by Hendrick de Keyser. Dutch Renaissance style. The body of the 13th-century tower, Het Steen, was originally a prison for the count's court. Around 1435, the tower became part of the town hall, and a bell tower was built on top. The old prison is still located in the tower. During restorations (1962-1966 and 1980-1981), the 17th-century exterior and interior were restored as much as possible to their original state, but adapted to modern requirements.

It’s sad to say but I have to... Bye flea market with all its entertainments... Bye amazing Delft. My time here is over. Just last look at flea market and beautiful city, I didn’t have a time to show you all its wonders... but I have to go away... The road calls me forward, to the “second capital” of Netherlands... to The Hague or Den Haag in Dutch...

One passes this gate on the way into Delft itself. It's the East Gate, built around 1400.

It is the only remaining gate in Delft - the others being removed in the 1860s. This one had less traffic at the time.

It was restored in the 1960s.
