During the winter the temperature in Bariloche is around 3 degrees Celsius, reaching 8 degrees in the hottest times of the day and -4 degrees at dawn, reaching a thermal sensation of up to -16 degrees C in more extreme situations.

In July of that year, a terrible cold front coming from Antarctica lowered the temperature to -25 degrees for a few days.

Luckily I was not there yet :)))

Same night, same location as yesterday's image (turned around 180 degrees) - sometimes you need to spin the camara around.

I took this shot at Walberswick this morning, my car said it was 2 degrees Celsius and the bike belonged to somebody actually swimming in the sea...!!!

Rotating the drone 45 degrees to the left after taking this shot: flic.kr/p/2o5LDBt we get a broadside view of the same train.

This monster train 120N from Whittier to Anchorage departed at 1130, just the exact right time for a chase on this shortest day of the year with only 5 1/2 hrs between sunrise and sunset. This would turn out to be the last freight train I'd chase along Turnagain Arm after countless memorable days out in the preceeding years.

Three SD70MACs were unusual for the South end, but this train needed it with 5900 ft and 12,000 tons of interchange traffic from both the CN and AML barges it was a REAL train.

The train is hugging the muddy and icy waters of Turnagain Arm as it crosses the old WWII era 123 ft pony truss bridge over Bird Creek at MP 86.6 om the ARRC mainlin3 28 miles south of the Anchorage depot.

The temperature exceeded 30 degrees at the night when I photographed it, and the humidity was a hot day more than 70%, too. The circumference of the Sky Tree seemed to burn, too :) Have a great week!

Seventh image in my Bird Art series...

The wind chill was 2 degrees below zero fahrenheit this evening at the harbor as I braved the cold to find and photograph the Snowy owl. That bird was nowhere to be found, but I did spend some time with this sweet Mourning Dove on the rocks.

I love their docile and trusting nature. They always allow me to capture some nice images, for which I'm grateful.

The six degree curve at the east end of Echo, Utah is the sharpest bend on the Union Pacific main line west of Omaha, Nebraska. Even when Harriman built a second main track through Echo in 1923, there was no practical way to reduce the curvature. The same sharpness applies to the parallel Lincoln Highway, and even Interstates 80/84. Slow down, people.

More than a century later, Union Pacific's hot Denver - Salt Lake City premium intermodal train navigates the restrictive, 35 mph curve through Echo on August 28, 2025. It won't be long before the ZDVSC 28 is back up to 70 mph.

The train had four clean winged GE locomotives. I have witnesses.

I'm pulling this beach scene out of the archives because we saw a 34/98 degree day today.......quite unheard of for early May and no doubt setting a record.

We'll be back down in the 20's by the weekend, but it was great to be off work & out on my deck today!! :)
