Macro Mondays, theme: "My Closest"

A gold-sequined lace was wrapped around a black ruler. The markings on the ruler (defocused) are 1 mm apart.

Single image.

To get this magnification, a vintage Nikkor 50 mm - f/1.4 lens was reverse-mounted on the camera using a reversal ring and two 27.5 mm extension tubes. The aperture was set to f/1.4.

Abstracting anything meaningful to focus on, we are compelled to consider the landscape free from narrative bonds. To imagine what might have been, in the space between reality and dreams. Nothing physical is eternal.

Canon fd 50mm f1.2L @ f1.5 (Zeiss b-speed mod)

This is a lens I bought cheaply due to a damaged and non-working aperture. I'd previously removed the aperture blades and used the lens in some early shots as a fixed f1.2 to nice effect, though decided to add a fixed reuleaux triangle aperture to emulate the look of the early Zeiss b-speed cine lenses used by Stanley Kubrick. I may create a blog about how I did this, as the improvement from f1.2 and against my Canon fd 50mm f1.4 with regards to sharpness, aberrations, optical vignetting, bokeh and transition is quite something.

Some people may find the triangles distracting, but I like it, and Kubrick chose to use the Zeiss stopped down, where he could have used the lens wide open and had circular bokeh. So maybe he liked it too.

Worth noting, the lens focuses perfectly well. I'm deliberately defocusing here with an eye toward abstract art, and look forward to posting more photos taken with it.

Driving in Delhi isn't easy but sometime I have got some of my better shots from these streets. The day I took this shot, the rain had just stopped leaving big and small drops on the windscreen of the car and luckily I was carrying my camera. So I thought of experimenting and took multiple exposure of moving cars on the road. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. It's amazing how some random ideas can take such beautiful shape. All colors look so pretty through the windscreen covered in rain droplets. This Beautiful, almost prism effect looks so pretty through the windscreen. The multi-colored sky looks fascinating and the red brake lights of the car ahead covers the major part of the shot. Each drop takes the color of objects ahead. The whole colorful shot looks so fascinating and surreal!

An in camera out of focus image.

A number of years ago i started seeing what i could get by defocusing my camera lens as i was curious about this process. I must say it took a fair while to master the effect and to get an image that appealed to me . As well as that i found it mentally difficult as i was so conditioned to having at least the subject or subjects in focus , but i persevered and eventually came out of this mode. Now i really like to create images like this , i guess i like the dreamy quality and that they alter the way i normally see. Not everyones cup of tea but certainly now one of my favourite brews . So from the tea bag ( SD card ) to the hot water ( darkroom ) were it has been fine tuned especially with some dodging and burning and is now ready for you to take a sip : )

Thanks for reading and for your faves and comments .

While driving one evening it started to rain. Luckily I was carrying my camera, which I often do these days. So I thought of experimenting and took multiple exposure of moving cars on the street. I was pleasantly surprised with the result. It's amazing how some random ideas can take such beautiful shape. All colors look so pretty through the windscreen covered in rain droplets. The multi-colored sky looks fascinating and the reflection of the cars on the road is so attractive.

The city of Vizag has many beaches with the best being the Rishikonda beach. This shot captures the fascinating waves forming the white froth that hit the rocks incessantly and then continues to recedes, under the beautiful midnight blue sky full of stars!

Another image of snowdrops and this one incorporating a Redwood taken on a recent visit to Kingston Lacy gardens.

Here I was focused along the centre from the redwood tree along to be in focus with the upper and lower to be slightly defocused. Also the sunlight late into the afternoon nicely lighting the Redwood and the distance trees nicely.....

Macro Mondays Theme Hobby

I hear gladly jazz music. My favorite is Miles Davis. In the background can you see a japanese stereo amplifier in champagne color.

Number 322 of my 365 photo challenge - A split-toned, focus stacked, macro image of a pair of skeletal Chinese Lanterns.

This was indeed a very difficult stack to get right and there are many mistakes within the image but I am generally happy with it. I am keen to improve upon it so any constructive advice on how to achieve a more seamless blend in Photoshop would be greatly appreciated! :-)

The top and bottom of the frame are defocused in post to create a dreamy effect.

Felicidad aplazada, recuerdos deshilachados, palabras borradas sobre blanco, caricias mancas, susurros mudos, sordo silencio, fuego estático, olor a nunca, anhelos vanos.... Esta historia es...poesía desenfocada

Deferred happiness, frayed memories, words erased on white, mutilated caresses , mute whispers, dull silence, static fire, smell of never, vain longings ... This story is ... defocused poetry

Slightly defocused for a softer shot...

A family run Lavender farm in the Cotswolds at Snowshill.

Got here a little late in the day, lots of tourists with the same idea of taking pictures. On the way getting distracted having a few stops capturing some fascinating and beautiful Cotswold countryside, the moral here is if you are going somewhere drive straight their.

Here I got down low to hide as many tourist as possible and using f stop and zoom technique to keep most of the lavender in focus while defocusing the background almost giving it a 3D look, you can still see one of the tourist a little blurred out near the farmers cottage.

On the plus side on this rare occasion of english summer the sun was out.

WISH YOU ALL A GREAT THURSDAY

RushiKonda Beach is known as the Jewel of the East Coast. The unspoiled beauty of the beach is its main attraction and offers a unique opportunity to relax and enjoy the golden sands and gentle ocean currents. The beach is a haven for watersports lovers and is popular among windsurfers and jet skiers. However, it is the scenic beauty of the beach that lures visitors throughout the year, who come to enjoy spending time amidst greenery, golden sands and azure waters. This shot taken at dusk captures the beauty of city fully lit and the lights reflecting beautifully on the waves. Incidentally the colors of the light are that of India's tricolor. The hills, a little canopy, rocks and the sandy beach give it a perfectly relaxing atmosphere!

I thoroughly enjoyed taking some pictures again with my Pentax K-5 and 100mm f/2.8 WR Macro lens. As you can see, the lens doesn't have to do macros only... To get this effect, I deliberately defocused the tiny purple flowers in the foreground, then focused through the soft haze onto foliage and flowers in the background. Somewhat different from the regular application, but I like it :)

The fire red flowers of Indian Paintbrush (Castilleja sp.) contrast with the blue hues of Lupin flowers (Lupinus polyphyllus) that are defocused in the background.

Indian Paintbrush plants are partially parasitic (hemiparasitic) on the roots of other plants such as grasses. They also have the ability to concentrate high levels of selenium in their tissues from the soil and can be toxic if the roots or shoots are consumed.

For more information see: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Castilleja

This marble, I had it in a drawer for a long time, these little ones, were the ones that entertained us when we were children. Today I take a picture of it, with a background of lights, to make it stand out more.

Esta canica, la tenía en un cajón guardada desde hacía mucho tiempo, estas pequeñas, eran las que nos entretenían cuando eramos niños. Hoy le echo una foto, con un fondo con luces, para que destacara más.
