I was set a drawing challenge a few years ago where we had to take a square frame and draw the minimum of a familiar object to be identifiable effectively in macro. Another challenge made me revisit this - and I liked the dictionary definiton behind as a background.

Process of creation/Arts&didactic

The emphasis of the picture it is in one photo and just some

added semi transparant texture and some detail all taken for the same photo.

So it is in term of correct definiton it is a manipulated image more that a proper photomontage . What in digital term as you can multiply layers of a image (or portions) and this same image can be tranformed, the new layer that you created becoming a very different picture from the original.

This is another experiment in creating a different feel using colour and tonal manipulation. I didn't have a particular end in mind, but I kept experimenting with Artizen HDR until I got something. I started with a noise-corrected image from Bibble Pro (with Noise Ninja). The original was shot in ISO800. Using the tonal mapping in Artizen, I was able to extract even more muscle definition from the subject. I also managed to get an exadurated gradient from the sky.

I have been making the most of my "downtime" by scanning the family slide collection and finding all sorts of "interesting" photos along the way.

For those of you that have asked, my leg/ankle is apparently healing nicely, I am still not allowed to put any weight on it but in 10 days or so will be able to start. The crutches are getting easier to use but I miss being able to use my hands, luckily the family have been great!

Since I broke my leg I don't think I have been further afield than the hospital but today we went to the beach!! It was a bit chilly but nice to sit and watch the sea!

Hopefully only 3 weeks till I am cast free :-)

The seven deadly Flickr sins!

That ^^^ means no flashy logos or daft graphics please!!

A little more Ella for you.

Ever feel, as the day goes by, and the world swirls around, that things get more and more insistant in your brain, and yet, because of the ingress, they become mixed with eachother and less and less of a priority, the pressure becoming equal? Your day at work seems more logical when there's a few important things to be done, as opposed to four million and ten other jobs, all important, but the definiton loses its way.

My head spins from it. And when my head spins it takes a step back and tries to let it all go a little. And it's at that point one of two things happen, sometimes both. You fall back into a safety net, resorting psychologically or physically to something you know, the familiar. It's like your safety net as you fall. Or you begin to remember there's an ephasis on one thing more than anything else, the stuff you try and forget and hide, the stuff that's really troubling you. So the world screams by at a thousand miles an hour, and you retreat and obsess over something important you'd rather hide from, and fall back to a place of familiarity.

And that's not so good. Nothing good ever comes out of familiarity. It's just shit scary to break out properly.

And so you fall back, or sit nervously on the edge. And the to-ing and fro-ing eats at you.

Someone Once Said That I Am A Geek.... khmmmmm.....

Definitons:

- One who is primarily motivated by passion

- A person who is interested in technology, especially computing and new media

- A person who has chosen concentration rather than conformity; one who pursues skill (especially technical skill) and imagination, not mainstream social acceptance. Geeks usually have a strong case of neophilia (a love of novelty and new things). Most geeks are adept with computers and treat hacker as a term of respect, but not all are hackers themselves — and some who are in fact hackers normally call themselves geeks anyway, because they regard "hacker" as a label that should be bestowed by others rather than self-assumed.

- A person with a devotion to something in a way that places him or her outside the mainstream.

Wellll...this is not me! Nop. I only like computers, I like to BORROW software, I prefer using computers vs. television, cos I do think, that on TV they only try to wash our brains... but on computers u have your own will to watch whatever you want to watch...not some premade programs.

soooo no I am not a geek :D

------------

Wallaby

Macropus agilis.jpg

Agile wallaby

Scientific classification

Kingdom: Animalia

Phylum: Chordata

Class: Mammalia

Infraclass: Marsupialia

Order: Diprotodontia

Family: Macropodidae

(in part)

A wallaby is a small- or mid-sized macropod found in Australia and New Guinea. They belong to the same taxonomic family as kangaroos and sometimes the same genus, but kangaroos are specifically categorised into the six largest species of the family. The term wallaby is an informal designation generally used for any macropod that is smaller than a kangaroo or wallaroo that has not been designated otherwise.[1][1]

There are 11 species of brush wallabies (g. Macropus, s.g. Protemnodon). Their head and body length is 45 to 105 cm and the tail is 33 to 75 cm long. The six named species of rock-wallabies (g. Petrogale) live among rocks, usually near water; two species are endangered. The two species of hare-wallabies (g. Lagorchestes) are small animals that have the movements and some of the habits of hares. Often called "pademelons", the three species of scrub wallabies (g. Thylogale) of New Guinea, the Bismarck Archipelago, and Tasmania are small and stocky, with short hind limbs and pointed noses. They are hunted for meat and fur. A similar species is the short-tailed scrub wallaby, or quokka (Setonix brachyurus); this species is now restricted to two offshore islands of Western Australia. The three named species of forest wallabies (g. Dorcopsulus) are native to the island of New Guinea. The dwarf wallaby is the smallest member of the genus and the smallest known member of the kangaroo family. Its length is about 46 cm from nose to tail, and it weighs about 1.6 kg.[2]/......

Region Stuttgart besonders betroffen.

The Uncanny (Ger. Das Unheimliche - “the opposite of what is familiar”) is a Freudian concept of an instance where something can be familiar, yet foreign at the same time, resulting in a feeling of it being uncomfortably strange or uncomfortably familiar. Because the uncanny is familiar, yet strange, it often creates congitive dissonance within the experiencing subject due to the paradoxical nature of being attracted to, yet repulsed by an object at the same time. This cognitive dissonance often leads to an outright rejection of the object, as one would rather reject than rationalize. Well, as much as I would agree with my geek friend Wiki, I would just call such behaviour as a momentum.

A momentum of non-recognition or comprehension of what takes place in a blink of an eye.

People tend to invent and use definitons to interpret the unknown, the rare, the unfamiliar, instead of simply experiencing it.

Prominence can also refer to being important or famous. This part of the definiton, maybe more so than how tall it stands physically, illustrates "One World Trade Center's" prominence as part of the NYC skyline. Replacing two iconic buildings that were destroyed, OWTC, also known as the "Freedom Tower" was built to be 1,776 ft....the year the Declaration of Independence was signed. This structure serves as a reminder of the past and an answer to future concerns in literal terms.

I have seen taller mountain peaks pretty close up, but standing at the base of this tower looking up....it's crazy tall. Try to imagine how it would look sitting next to King Mountain along the Matanuska River.
