Mother Road
I've been waiting for a long time
In this dark room,
I can hear the fun and singing
Down the hall.
Someone touched the lock
And I plunged into the great day
I saw the bands, the fences
And the people around.
In the first moments I thought
That it was only necessary to defend myself.
But this place is a dead end,
I begin to understand.
They closed behind me,
They were afraid I would back out.
I'm going to get it in the end
This ridiculous dancer...
Is this world serious?
Andalusia, I remember:
The meadows lined with cactus...
I'm not going to tremble in front of
This puppet, this minus!
I will catch him and his hat,
To make them turn like the sun!
Tonight, the bullfighter's wife
Will sleep on her two ears.
Is this world serious?
I've chased ghosts
Almost touched their ballerinas
They hit me hard on the neck
To make me bow
Where do these acrobats come from
With their paper costumes?
I never learned to fight
Against dolls
Feeling the sand under my head
It's amazing how good it feels
I prayed for it to stop
Andalusia I remember
I hear them laugh as I moan
I see them dance as I succumb
I didn't think we could have so much fun
To have fun around a grave
Is this world serious?
Is this world serious?
Si, si hombre, hombre
Baila baila
Hay que bailar de nuevo
Y mataremos otros
Otros vidas, otros toros
Y mataremos otros
Venga, venga
Venga, venga a bailar...
Guarding our coastline from high tides, while Rob, 'H' and I were more worried about the picnic blanket and the football!
Today we visited the breeding colony of the arctic terns - a lot of trouble and noise. The birds are just starting to breed, and they have to manifest their partners and nesting places. At the same place a lot of black headed gulls are nesting, and they have already their chicks. And - most stressful thing: tourists. These people who come as close as possible to the birds to make some senseless selfies. They regret that soon because the birds are attacking them if they come too close - like this brave Daddy-tern.

Assumption Cathedral on the right and Annunciation Cathedral on the left....The Assumption Cathedral is now the main temple of the Moscow Kremlin, and in the XV-XIX centuries it was the main Orthodox church of the Russian state. All Russian tsars were crowned here. Weddings and baptisms took place here. They prayed here before the military campaign. Metropolitans and patriarchs were elected here and buried here.....The Annunciation Cathedral ("the Cathedral Church of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos that the Great Sovereign has above" or "on the porch") is an Orthodox church in Moscow, located on the Cathedral Square of the Moscow Kremlin. Consecrated in honor of the Annunciation of the Most Holy Theotokos, it was the first house church of the Moscow grand dukes and tsars of the XVI century and the first tsar Mikhail Fedorovich before the construction of the Verkhospassky Cathedral......Golden domes shine,
Crowning temples exalted faces,
And years and centuries are reflected in them,
The stories are many-sided.
Golden domes are burning,
Casting off the sun 's glare,
Displaying as if in mirrors,
The harsh fate of a great country.
The difficult history of the Slavs,
Their knights on the battlefield scarlet tunics,
That they fought to the death keeping the motherland,
Defending Russia from the encroachments of the wild steppe.
From the hordes of foreign basurman,
With the sword of those who came to the boundless expanses,
And other quirky tyrants,
Creating ruin and strife.
But Russia did not disappear and did not dissolve
Within the infinite universe,
And preserved the memory for centuries
About the exploits of the great and conquests.
And the golden domes did not go out,
The exalted faces of the temples have not been erased,
And reflected in them as if in mirrors
The harsh history of a great country.
And there is no need to praise an already great country,
She will declare herself properly,
But no one should forget history,
And you don't need to take swords out of their scabbards either.

Everything was peaceful -- the pair of Loons were preening while I was chimping (looking at my photos in the viewfinder from my kayak) When all of a sudden all hell broke loose, couldn't see who the intruder was until it appeared after the commotion was over and it turned out to be a musky muskrat. I had no idea muskrats were a threat but I guess everything is a potential threat. The muskrat looked put out he didn't get egg for breakfast. I was so relieved everything was fine because I experienced lots of heartache with nest robbers this year. First a goose lost all her eggs, then falcons were stealing magpie babies out of the nest right in front of me in my yard, the death cry of a baby is something I never want to hear again. I hope the Loons are good after all the brutal thunderstorms we've had, she only has one egg left out of two. It was worth driving through a washed out road to get this image... I was going to turn around and go back home.
Mother Nature has no mercy.

This female Rufous Hummingbird worked so hard defending the feeder and grevillea plants in the yard all morning. In the afternoon, the male took over dominance of the yard. They make me tired watching how hard they work.
On Youtube there is a video of how the photo was taken. In the video area I am only at the beginning but I try to improve there as well. I would be happy if you come by and comment the video.

Muntjac Deer - Muntiacus reevesi
Doe
Reeves’ muntjac are small, stocky and russet brown in colour in summer and grey/brown in winter. Bucks have short (10 cm) antlers growing from long pedicles. Antlers are usually unbranched but a very short brow tine is occasionally found in old bucks. They also have visible upper canines (tusks) suggesting that they are a primitive species. Muntjac have two pairs of large glands on the face. The upper pair are the frontal glands, whilst the lower glands, below the eyes, are called sub-orbitals. Both glands are used to mark territories and boundaries. They have a ginger forehead with pronounced black lines running up the pedicles in bucks, and a dark diamond shape on does. The haunches are higher than the withers giving a hunched appearance. They have a fairly wide tail, which is held erect when disturbed.
Muntjac were brought from China to Woburn Park in Bedfordshire in the early 20th century. They are now widespread and increasing in number and range. Deliberate releases and escapes from Woburn, Northamptonshire, and Warwickshire led to the establishment of feral populations. Movement and release by humans led to their rapid spread across south and central England and Wales, however, north of the Humber distribution is patchy but reaches close to the Scottish border.
Muntjac like deciduous or coniferous forests, preferably with a diverse understorey. They are also found in scrub and overgrown urban gardens. Unlike other species of deer in Britain, muntjac do not cause significant damage to agricultural or timber crops. However, high densities may prevent coppice regeneration and the loss of some plants of conservation importance, such as primulas. Muntjac trophy hunting has only recently become popular so there is little tradition of muntjac stalking on country and forest estates. The most significant direct economic impact that muntjac have on human interests is in collisions with cars. However, this has welfare as well as economic implications.
In contrast to all other species of deer in Britain, muntjac do not have a defined breeding season (rut). Instead, they breed all year round and the does can conceive again within days of giving birth. Bucks may fight for access to does but remain unusually tolerant of subordinate males within their vicinity.
Does are capable of breeding at seven months old. After a gestation period of seven months, they give birth to a single kid and are ready to mate again within a few days.
Bucks can live up to 16 years and does up to 19 years, but these are exceptional.
Muntjac are generally solitary or found in pairs (doe with kid or buck with doe) although pair-bonding does not occur. Bucks defend small exclusive territories against other bucks whereas does' territories overlap with each other and with several bucks.
They are known as ‘barking deer’ from the repeated loud bark given under a number of circumstances. An alarmed muntjac may scream whereas maternal does and kids squeak.
Muntjac are active throughout the 24-hour period but make more use of open spaces during the hours of darkness in populations subject to frequent disturbance. Peak activity is at dawn and dusk. Long periods are spent ‘lying up’, where the deer lies down to ruminate after feeding.
I saw so many seals while kayaking out in the Dungeness Bay yesterday. At one point, I counted 11 watching me from all around.
Gorliz.

[COCO LOUIS] Defend Me Sneakers @ The Vault!
This Great Blue Heron was chasing another GBH that had entered his part of the water. Taken at a local lake here in Colorado.
I couldn't figure out whether this guy was there to defend the fort, or if he was just a really scaly tourist. Either way this gguy was oblivious to all of the attention he was receiving. He was basking in the window of the gift shop at Castillo de San Crystobal in Old San Juan, Puerto Rico.

England’s River Thames has been a working river and lifeline since mankind first learned how to lash wood together to make a boat. At numerous times throughout history it has been defended against invasion. Just upriver from the 19th century Coalhouse Fort is this derelict radar tower and jetty from WW2.
