Impeach Cheney, but do it according to the rules of the Constitution...
Statement Regarding Impeachment of Vice President Cheney
Ron Paul Speech to Congress
November 6, 2007
Mr. Speaker, I rise, reluctantly, in favor of the motion to table House Resolution 799, Impeaching Richard B. Cheney, Vice President of the United States, of high crimes and misdemeanors, and in favor of referring that resolution to the House Judiciary Committee for full consideration. I voted to table this resolution not because I do not share the gentleman from Ohio's desire to hold those responsible for the Iraqi debacle accountable; but rather, because I strongly believe that we must follow established protocol in matters of such importance. During my entire time in Congress, I have been outspoken in my opposition to war with Iraq and Iran. I have warned my colleagues and the administration against marching toward war in numerous speeches over the years, and I have voted against every appropriation to continue the war on Iraq.
I have always been strongly in favor of vigorous congressional oversight of the executive branch, and I have lamented our abrogation of these Constitutional obligations in recent times. I do believe, however, that this legislation should proceed through the House of Representatives following regular order, which would require investigation and hearings in the House Judiciary Committee before the resolution proceeds to the floor for a vote. This time-tested manner of moving impeachment legislation may slow the process, but in the long run it preserves liberty by ensuring that the House thoroughly deliberates on such weighty matters. In past impeachments of high officials, including those of Presidents Nixon and Clinton, the legislation had always gone through the proper committee with full investigation and accompanying committee report.
I noted with some dismay that many of my colleagues who have long supported the war changed their vote to oppose tabling the motion for purely political reasons. That move was a disrespectful to the Constitutional function of this body and I could not support such actions with my vote.
I was pleased that the House did vote in favor of sending this legislation to the Judiciary Committee, which essentially directs the committee to examine the issue more closely than it has done to this point.
Stickers on a car window. The man saw me taking a photo and said something along the lines of "Could I be more clear?" Then he walked across the sidewalk with a bugle and played taps.

Great idea, but follow the Constitution...

On November 5, 2007, over 37,000 people donated $4.3 to Ron Paul over the internet (AP Press). The fundraising event was organized, independent of the Ron Paul campaign, by internet users. The 5th of November was chosen based on Guy Fawkes Night and the movie V for Vendetta.
In 1605 Guy Fawkes was part of the Gunpowder Plot; a scheme to kill King James I and blow up the House of Parliament. The plot itself may have been occasioned by the realisation by Protestant authorities and Roman Catholic recusants that the Kingdom of Spain was in far too much debt and were fighting too many wars to assist Roman Catholics in the South of Britain (sound familiar?) [wikipedia]. On November 5, 1605, the Gunpowder Plot was foiled by authorities. Every year, some countries (e.g., UK, New Zealand, and Canada) celebrate the foiling of the Gunpowder plot on Guy Fawkes night. In V for Vendetta, the main character V, wears a Guy Fawkes mask and carries out the Gunpowder Plot to remind the people that it is their responsibility to hold the government accountable for abuse and corruption.
On November 5, 2007, Ron Paul supporters carried out a peaceful rEVOLution to support Ron Paul in his quest for the White House for he is the country's only hope to Restore the Republic and Defend the Constitution.
For far too long we have been sheeps in this country- allowing the government to take our property, liberty, and freedom. It is our responsibility to ensure that the government follows the Constitution and does not violate our rights. The founding fathers remind us of this responsibility...
"We, the people are the rightful masters of both Congress and the courts- not to overthrow the Constitution, but to overthrow the men who pervert the Constitution" -Abraham Lincoln
"The tree of liberty must be refreshed from time to time with the blood of patriots and tyrants. It is it's natural manure." -Thomas Jefferson
They're rolling in their graves...
Ron Paul is the only candidate with an exit strategy for ending the war in Iraq. Just bring them home!
The military supports Ron Paul:
"Republican presidential candidate Ron Paul, the congressman from the Houston area who opposes the Iraq war, has gotten more contributions than any other White House contender from donors identified as affiliated with the military. According to a Houston Chronicle analysis of campaign records from January through September, Paul received $63,440 in donations from current military employees and several retired military personnel." - www.outsidethebeltway.com
After Ron Paul's speech a crowd gathered along the side of the stage. I would later learn that he was giving an interview to the media. I would also later learn that this was his exit route to his car where he would shake hands and sign stuff for people. I didn't get either, but did get within 2 feet of him!

Cost:
- 3,840 U.S. troops and 974,000 Iraqis
- $2.4 trillion
- Freedom and liberty
All other candidates ridiculed Ron Paul for saying that he would immediately bring the troops home. Well it turns out it must've been a good idea since several candidates have adopted Dr. Paul's position on the Iraq War.
John "Top" Holland served in 3 different wars and is currently active in trying to get the government to find and return POWs home. Ron Paul will bring them home. He has voted on every bill to pass his desk to find them and bring them home.

Ron Paul rEVOLution. Be a part of it! You can't afford not to. Save the country now and for generations to come!
Champion of the Constitution and "...the most honest man in Congress." - John McCain to Kent Snyder, 1988.
When I took my spot in the crowd, I was in the last row. Towards the end of Ron Paul's speech I turned around to see how deep the crowd had gotten.
Fading light dims the sight
And a star gems the sky, gleaming bright
From afar drawing nigh,
Falls the night.
Day is done, gone the sun
From the lake, from the hills, from the sky
All is well, safely rest;
God is nigh.
Then goodnight, peaceful night;
Till the light of the dawn shineth bright.
God is near, do not fear,
Friend, goodnight.
Principled values backed by 10 terms in Congress. He respects the Constitution and does what it allows him to do.

The crowd erupted after Ron Paul said something awesome. I wish that I could remember exactly what it was, but it probably had to do with freedom, peace, or prosperity... or some other "wacky" idea.
People starting to trickle in... yes, I said trickle in. The crowd would end up quadrupling (in my estimation) in size!
When we first arrived at Independence mall, this man stood alone atop these rocks. As 1pm (start of the rally) neared, more and more people joined him.
After Ron Paul was driven off in a mini-van, some folks decided to start an impromptu march around Philadelphia. Good times!
We marched around Philly for what seemed to be well over an hour. We gathered here, the site of the after party.
Rockie Lynne is a country music star, veteran, and Ron Paul supporter. He performed at the rally and did a wonderful job. I'm no fan of country music, but I was digging his tunes. Great stuff Rockie!
