Deep in thought a young "Bag Piper" contemplates the upcoming competition.

Joi Ito, a famous entrepreneur and a venture capitalist, was having a deep meditation in an office in Tokyo, thinking about the future of the world.

Milton Goldsbrough aged 18 years far right, and who were thought to be his brothers Hector and Roy on left in uniform. They bear very little likeness however, to other photographic images and AIF descriptions for same. Hector possibly, as he re-enlisted (from being AWL) in November 1915. Roy if this was he, is in his Militia uniform, and he didn't enlist until March 1916. Cousin, John Joseph enlisted in July 1915 and embarked 8th October of 1915 so he could be present.

Other relatives worth a mention

Reginald Goldsbrough Higgs (1st cousin), Enlisted 23 June, embarked 9th August 1915.

Hunter Parkman Sheppard               (aged 20 years) - Enlisted 24 November 1915

Charles Henry Sheppard                    (Aged 44 years) - Enlisted 1st July 1917

Edward Montgomery Sheppard       (aged 37 years) - Enlisted 7th may 1917

Date of this family photo will pre-date Milton's embarkation for Egypt on 20th December 1915.

Identity of other persons (family) in the portrait is unknown. Woman seated centre appears to be of Indigenous or Islander ethnography. Could be anyone either side of the Samuel Goldsborough - Inman camps. Who are they? and why were his father William and mother Emma not present at this sitting. They may be family or neighbourhood of Manly acquaintances.

Magnified inset 1: Is the small image within the locket, that of another young son now serving on the battlefields of France....or in the memory of someone dear, already lost! There seems to another person standing behind the effigy, obscured by the woman's collar.

Inset 2 right: Though a little more heavier in set, could this be a younger depiction of the same (centre) person.

disclaimer: I don't put my son in a crib ever (except for the image). He wasn't really crying, those are water drops, he isn't babysat by an ipod, ipad or any other music device or high tech device. * Sadly, I have seen parent's do this, that's where the idea came from.

No I have not read all these but I want to. I have read much of Think: A Compelling Introduction to Philosophy by Simon Blackburn and 36 Arguments for the Existence of God by Rebecca Newberger Goldstein.

The others are:

The Meta-Physical Club by Louis Menand

God Created the Integers by Steven Hawking

Nietzsche by Friedrich Nietzche (translated by Walter Kaufman)

The Unbearable Lightness of Being by Milan Kundera.

I also like anything by William James.

This morning I said goodbye to my mom, my dad and I packed up the car, met my first friend in kindergarten for coffee, said goodbye to her, drove to St. Louis to meet up with two of my friends Tay and Maddie for lunch, said goodbye to my dad, said goodbye to Tay, and then Maddie treated me to rock climbing. To say this day was emotionally draining would be putting it mildly. But I am grateful there are people in my life that are hard to say goodbye to; it makes reunions that much sweeter.

Rock climbing was the perfect way to end my time at home--insert metaphors for climbing mountains of upcoming challenges that life will most certainly bring. I say bring it on, because we rocked that rock wall. (:

Summer 2020 - Mirror Reflection

Took this photo of the lady at the park relaxing on a Saturday afternoon. I greeted her as I first walked by her. Then started taking photos of some roses nearby her. When she wasn't looking, I snuck in a couple of photos of her as her concentration intrigued me. GH2 + Oly 14-150.

There were other monkeys which were actively participating in random brawls and fun activities while this one just looked on as if in a deep thought!... Seemed to be the wisest of them all... I really wondered what it could have possibly been thinking about!

Life sometimes has a way of throwing you a curveball ..... what seems like a sneaky pitch, but a pitch you have to face head on. Even after a strikeout, the seasoned batter takes the bench in stride and reflects. What went wrong, will he get to bat again in this inning, perhaps he needs a break for a couple of innings to get his game strategy on focus. By the way, I'm not sure where all this baseball talk is coming from.....hmm, guess I just feel like rambling out a few thoughts.....
