This sun worshipper found a natural rock platform at Dee Why on Sydney's northern beaches - and just dozed off.
A nice relaxing Sunday afternoon at Dee Why beach.
Two row 18 shot panorama 90mm lens.
3:1 crop.
One day i will get a panoramic head to make these a bit easier to do :)
The weather was cruel today, with low cloud on the horizon, and a rain band moving in right after sunrise. This is probably the best of a poor bunch of photos.
Dee Why Baths.
Looking back at a few Surfer shots from my last Visit to Sydney in 2019. Eventually getting to edit a few .
Done and dusted ... The Sun Run from Dee Why to Manly is either 7km or 10km, a little hilly at first before a nice flat finish. These shots aren't of the winners and the super fit bods, they are of everyday people out to set a PB or just get a little fitter. To all of them, well done and congratulations; the joy at making the distance was inspiring.
Let me first start by saying it wasn't much of a sunrise. Never the less I have been to this beach that many times to find a comp of the beach. It has proved itself to be a spot I had given up on, but the other day i thought i may give it one more scout to find a good shot. I have seen plenty of shots from Dee Why but only in parts maybe a shot of the pool, clubhouse or the walking path.
I wanted the whole beach so people can relate the whole scene to Dee Why no guessing "I think it maybe Dee Why".
Its a challenge to shoot a pano here because of a)the walking path and b)the shape of the beach itself. Its ark is pretty full on already so you don't want to add to it by making your pan a massive fish bowl.
anyway here is my attempt. This shot will be the sunrise shot i try and capture till i get a keeper.
p.S to clone or not to clone (the light)
....in body building there is a pose called "most muscular". Anyway, here is Ian Cameron striking his pose with Cathy Adams observing.
What I love about this photo is that Cathy & Ian almost appear to have been superimposed given the flash & darker background. I also think the waves, ocean & clouds make a stunning backdrop.
This part of a series of captures from the Dee Why Pool morning shoot.

This photo is part of the Australian National Maritime Museum’s William J Hall collection. The Hall collection provides an important pictorial record of recreational boating in Sydney Harbour, from the 1890s to the 1930s – from large racing and cruising yachts, to the many and varied skiffs jostling on the harbour, to the new phenomenon of motor boating in the early twentieth century. The collection also includes images of the many spectators and crowds who followed the sailing races.
The ANMM undertakes research and accepts public comments that enhance the information we hold about images in our collection. This record has been updated accordingly.
