Had a break yesterday as we went shopping and that was enough excitement for one day!
Today’s decluttering was easy: I had a bag of toys in the loft given to me by a Freecycler, but because they were very old and had been stored somewhere damp, most of them were mouldy and smelled. I also had another big sack of toys given to me by my daughter to dispose of. These were given to her by her sis in law and an uncle of her boyfriend’s, and as Harry has millions (so it seems) of toys, these can go.
So..... from top. Big pile of toys my daughter gave me. These will go to Oxfam, or if they don’t take them, I’ll offer them on Freecycle.
Bottom right, pile of toys destined for the bin.
Bottom left – reel of draught excluder. Have had this knocking around for ages in the garage. Hubby has been complaining of the draught that comes through the door from the garage into the kitchen and had asked me to make a draught excluder. While waiting for that to be made, he’d stuffed a fleece blanket under the bottom of the door but it’s not very practical when we keep wanting to go out to the garage. I thought I’d dig this draught excluder out and have a go – and hey presto, no more draughts! Hubby was never one to go for the simplest option first!
It’s day 8 of my challenge and I’ve still got loads of things I want to declutter. I’m waiting for the incessant snow to go, so that I can put things on Freecycle and people will be able to get to us to pick them up. I’ve a feeling this challenge could run a few more days!
While in the museum, I took lots of photos of this sculpture, which I like very much I choose this image because I wanted to declutter and give the sculpture lots of space -- something new for me to try. Then I converted to black and white, as it shows off the lines better. Maybe it's a bit too stark.....not sure if people can relate to it.

category 10: old mags!
The bug hit me to DECLUTTER - so I pulled out the bin that has had clothes in it for a couple of years and made the tough call to just start parting with them. I don't want to keep dealing with the "well...at some point" and "eventually when I can fit into them..." mindset. Here and NOW!
We had a pre-New Year declutter today! Toddler girl spent the day with my mum and hubby and I got loads done! It will be lovely to start the new year with such a clean slate! I wonder how long it will take for the house to be full of junk again?
The photo - didn't have much time with all that decluttering but took a picture of the orange we were using up in a batch of mulled wine and added a texture - I quite like it :-)

The cabinet now has a lot of free space. Not sure what will go up there...

I always seem to overpack and I end up with this heavy suitcase. As I unpack my life, declutter, let go and release body fat...the analogies are endless. I was out of breath caring this but I did it. Gotta "lighten" the load.

It's replacement day today, day 9 of my 30 day challenge. Today I Donated 3 different drying racks in varying sizes and types, which I never used because they don't work with the way my apartment is set up. I replaced them with a single, collapsible drying rack which takes up less storage space but will actually work better.
I really wish I'd checked this before midnight, I spent most of today moving my desk, it was pressed up against the wall on the left, but I moved it round and so far it feels better.
Not sure if it's a perminant move yet, things usually aren't in my room =P
it feels really good to get rid of these things. When am I -- seriously -- ever going to read "All The President's Men"? Never!
