To declutter 2008, I'll get rid of 10 things a day for ten days. I started with my computer. A few more than 10, but it's way overdue.

Clutter is one of the main challenges in any Feng Shui practice. In your living room, it is likely to be an even bigger problem than in the rest of the house. Here are some tips on making being un-cluttered easy for yourself.

My 30 Day project is now old enough to drink (21.) Today was another big Donate day, as I finished cleaning out the dresser where I store most of my spare linens. I Donated enough items that when I'm done cleaning out my clothes dressers, I can move the linens over there and actually get rid of the entire extra dresser!!

No, I will NOT make my bed. The topsheet being tucked in makes me feel like I'm tucked into a casket.

Today I spent the morning with my 7 yo daughter at Starbucks. She read a book about Rocks and Minerals (smarty pants) and I scanned through 4 year old Creating Keepsakes magazines (so I can declutter). What great inspiration I found - even though it was "old".

I almost completely scraplifted this layout. It's laughable how almost exact it is! But I love it so who cares! :)

Spring cure task:

I have to declutter and find another place in my pad for another bookshelf.

I also want to:

-find a new curtain rack

- go wireless

- wash the slipcover

- change one of the glasses from the window

I hired a organizer to help me declutter my home office. Here's the result. Look Ma, no piles of paper!

Day 14 of my 30 Day "D" Challenge is time to Deal with another pile of stuff in the library/guest room. This time it's the corner shelf of spare blankets, sheets, winter gear, and misc stuff that's been piled on it. A few minutes and a couple of bins later, the random bits have been put where they belong elsewhere, and the spare blankets and sheets look much neater.

will this pile never begone from my office?

Decluttering of the dining table.... [Herenstraat, Tuinstad Staalwijk, Leiden, 4/30/2017]

A pile of stuff to go to the charity shop for the start of November declutter. Not pictured are 3 carrier bags full of mine and girls clothes, a carrier bag of fabric that was gifted but that I won't use and some random bits and bobs from a kitchen drawer. I also took some of the girls clothes to a friend for her daughter.

We had a pre-New Year declutter today! Toddler girl spent the day with my mum and hubby and I got loads done! It will be lovely to start the new year with such a clean slate! I wonder how long it will take for the house to be full of junk again?

The photo - didn't have much time with all that decluttering but took a picture of the orange we were using up in a batch of mulled wine and added a texture - I quite like it :-)

It's day 16 of my 30 Day challenge, and I was supposed to be getting new headphones today. Knowing that there were old headphones lurking in hidden spots, today's challenge was the pile of misc "iDevice" stuff scattered around. I dug it all out and Dealt with the random bits of dock adapters, old cases, boxes, cables, headphones, iPods, etc, and sorted it down to one small bag of necessary cases, cables, and adapters. Then donated the spare cases, and listed the 80GB iPod on Craigslist for good measure.

The square became a roundabout 60 years ago . Overall impact of the S2S project has brought decluttering, updating, bins, planters, common black paint in all major town public realm areas.

Are you shopping for that happiness but end up being broke?

Being a professional leadership and behavioral speaker, an intriguing topic that I speak about most often is about discovering what would allow us to be at our psychological best every day.

And often, we can’t run away from this simple word, happiness. Almost everything we do is about arriving at happiness. We have many ways to be happy, and this includes shopping.

In a study conducted by the University of Michigan on the benefit of retail therapy, making a purchase decision can help to reduce sadness. And sadness, in a nutshell, is when things happen outside of our control and arriving at an undesired outcome.

So, what happened after that? We look for ways to regain control, and shopping, that is, making a purchase decision, help us to recover some form of control. But it only helps in reducing sadness temporarily.

A study has surfaced that those who pursue material possession tend to be less satisfied and experience fewer positive emotions every day. Shopping becomes more of a stressor rather than a positive multiplier.

The question is no longer about how we can shop for happiness, but how we can invest in happiness, and be mindful of strategy that is more sustainable and duplicable so that we do not end up being broke. There is three happiness food for thought strategy for you

1. Invest in Experience

Psychologists discovered that people experience a new sense of happiness and positive emotion when they invest in an experiential purchase. That is, the vacation we took, lunch treats we give to our friends and colleagues, and offering both time and effort in volunteer work for a cause you believe.

An experiential purchase allows us to re-live that same moment of happiness repeatedly without expiring. People experience somewhat newfound joy whenever they recalled that happy experience, even though it was the same vacation, even though it happened several months earlier.

2. Invest in Simplicity

The common saying of doing more with less is outdated. The reality is that the more we do more with less, the less we do, and we have no more. While having more options is a good thing, but when we have excessive options, it can even lead to becoming a clinical depression issue.

Simplicity helps us to declutter our lives and focus on what is more important. Your energy goes to where your focus is and what you focus on, whether negative or positive, expand. But what is more important in investing in simplicity is that you free up more time for yourself.

Happiness is when you have worked hard and create time for yourself to enjoy your harvest, with a clear focus on what you want, without being cluttered up with the expectation of the world. Most people are busy getting busy, and for a tinge of happiness, ended up shopping for short-term pleasure and then returning to their cluttered lives, and the cycle continues – I called it the rat in a lab life.

3. Invest in Flexibility

Letting go of the need to always be in control builds your flexibility. Nothing is predictable to the dot in our world. In my work, I have seen countless people wanting to control things they can’t control and ended up being frustrated and burn-out, and this frustrates the people around them too.

Being flexible does not mean not having a goal but being flexible enough to discover new ways around them. You will realize that by planning less, you are conscious of more unforeseen opportunities that might just come your way. Be flexible.

Stop shopping for happiness but invest in one. Be experiential, simple, and flexible. Each day. Everyday.
