I recently turned to a “random decision maker” app to help get me motivated again. The info that I entered for consideration consisted of location, camera and lens, b&w or color and aspect ratio. My spin for today told me to go to Waterloo, Wisconsin and use my Leica D-Lux 4 set to b&w in 16:9 ratio. That isn’t a combination I’d think of using but it was fun trying something different.
I decided to play with this one a bit. Water on the lens made it unusable for my stock portfolio.
Camera: Nikon D810

For the Crazy Tuesday challenge: " a spoonful of..." I decided to go full on crazy with this week's challenge.
Here folks note he decided to bank left as he left the pole and all he did was make a go round back to landing, being in the right place and the right time
PRICELESS................
I posted this in 2019, and decided today to redo with better noise reduction software: DxO PureRAW 3.
These small raptors have become more fearful of humans (us) in the past four years.
Thanks for looking.
Decided to take my Canon EOS 5D MkIII on a walk...not the greatest...possibly atmospheric...who knows...Hey, at least the pics are fresh :). I snapped this shot of my best bud, Hobbes by the pond's edge. I liked how the Sunlight illuminated him.

Decided to re-upload this meh-ish photo just because Addie hasn't been seen for a while, and today I have no time to photograph her because tomorrow I have a maths exam, and an English exam.. so.. I have no time to do anything but revise. :p Meh meh meh! Hope you guys are having a wonderful Sunday, hah ^_^
I decided to walk around my garden this morning and see what I could find. Some real beauties greeted me!
I decided to bring two setups this morning to the BPSF. For at least a year I used almost exclusively a D500 + 200-500mm F5.6. As ducks are often very close to this place I also brought my old D600 + 300F4. The results are different but I think I had more keepers with the 300F4 even if the camera is slower.
Three wood ducks were present in the company of a multitude of mallards. This male was definitely more beautiful with the perfect feathers.
I decided to take a little vacation in SL.
Destination: Havana, Cuba!!! I found this beautiful sim called 'Octopussy Goes Cuba'. It's a picturesque sim with a colorful tropical South American town feel and a beautiful beach below.
There's a scenic plank bridge connecting the two. Definitely wear your comfy shoes while heading out onto the bridge. No heels or wedges…well…it’s SL, so you’ll be fine either way. :D

After Eric Gail and I decided on shooting the North Window for sunrise, we grabbed a couple of hours of sleep and headed back from the campsite in the dark. (Eric, by the way, has some serious mojo when it comes to getting campsites at the last minute on busy weekends. I think this was the third time in a row he just rolled up to a site that was marked "full" and somehow a got campsite.)
As soon as we parked, I made a bee-line for this particular spot as I knew it would fill up early. I need to thank Eric for tipping off to this location the day before. When you see photographers perched up in this position from below, it really does look intimidating. You can't really see the ledge or for that matter any possible way to crawl out there without using some serious rock climbing skills. But once you actually begin claiming up to this spot, there are only a couple of sketchy spots to negotiate before you arrive at one of the most stunning locations in Arches National Park. The arch within an arch is immediately visible as you look through the North Window to the Turret Arch directly behind.
And so I crawled out there in the dark and set up on a little outcropping of rock and dug in for the long haul. And sure enough, an army of photographers began to arrive 20 minutes later. By sunrise entire van loads of photographers were now milling around the window. It was interesting to watch several of them asking "WHO in their right mind would climb out there?" initially before their curiosity inevitably got the better and up they came.
For this particular shot, the "glow" behind the rock is actually light pollution, presumably from Moab, but I liked the way it played off of the early morning burn that was beginning to set up off to the East. I spent most of my time shooting up there with the Rokinon 12mm as I wanted to pull in as much color off to the East as possible while shooting through the window.
I finally gave up my spot to several other photographers who were circling like vultures behind me after the sun finally came out from behind the clouds. It was truly a spectacular morning and one has since become one of my favorite mornings of shooting to date. I can't wait to get back there!

I decided to shoot an image of the Dala Horse showing the full body to better see the fine painting. I used a focus stack to get everything sharp and since I'm posting this on Sunday, I added some texture to the yellow background. Happy Slider Sunday - HSS.
Shot with: VOIGTLANDER, 125mm f/2.5 SL, MACRO APO-LANTHAR, shot @ f/5.6, 42 Layer Focus Stack Rendered w/Helicon Focus, (B,R5,S3). The horse measures 4.25 inches tall by 3.75 inches long. Textures by Skeletalmess and Lenabem-Anna.
Having recovered from my bout with COVID I've found myself in the middle of remodeling our main bathroom. I'll catch up the best I can and all the best on this fine, but rainy Sunday.
Decided to have a bit of fun this morning. It was such a beautiful night I went out to snap some shots of Elie lighthouse. Unfortunately, it was close to a full moon and plenty of clouds the sky. Really enjoyed it though!
Jasper decided to open a kissing booth this Valentine's Day. Two bones seems like a fair price. And all proceeds will go to feed a starving dog (named Jasper 😜) Happy Valentine's Day!
Decided to do a few more edits of old photos given some of my backlog and Omicron now taking full effect. Here is one I posted in B&W a while ago I re-edited in colour. This was a magical place, taken with a long lens at 400MM compressing the waterfall and the mountain going in and out of weather.
Decided to try the other side of the River Trent this morning to see if there was a better view of the three Egrets and the answer was Yes, Quite close in the sheep field.

Decided to take that little sporty mare out for a trotting in the forest this morning. She's a retired race horse so her training was mostly "run fast we have to win" ! We have her since three days now and we started to show her that going fast isn't what we want from her, we want her to rest herself from all those years she running fast on the track, we want her to be chill in her head , we want her to have feelings, we want her to to be a horse, not a racing machine. You'll learn to be you again little one, I promise.

Decided to try and grab some Coastal birds while I was out on the North Carolina Outer Banks.

I decided to post a second image of my recent session with a Western Wood Pewee. I'm not sure I'll ever get another one this photogenic. IMHO,Out of the many shots I took, this one says "pewee" most.
Decided on more of a low key effect with this beautiful flower, as the colours were so bold I wanted to bring the boldness out with a dark surround. Lighting and set up were tricky as it was a breezy day with poor natural light.
Today i decided to resurface an old photo (after fixing a couple of rookie mistakes!). A photo i took on my first visit to Chicago. A long exposure, probably my first shot that made sense to be done as long exposure! before that i would just set my camera on my tripod and shoot long exposures for no particular reason. On that night though, everything was perfect. I was in Windy City on a cloudy night, surrounded by high rises. Well, it can't go any better i guess! :-)
Decided to process this one in colour for a change. Cancelled the Northumberland trip today after speaking to the hotel and booked a trip to Whitby.
I decided to try and catch the last of the autumn colours before the wind and rain finally strips the foliage from the trees,
With it being half-term I decided to avoid the honey pots of the Lake District and went to Scout and Cunswick Scars just West of Kendal. I thought it would be quiet there and I could get some moody long lens shots of the South Lakes as the weather pushed through on the strong SW winds.
My hunch paid off and I avoided both the people and the rain which clearly weighed heavily on the Lake District to the North.
I got quite a lot of moody shots and it was clear that much of the foliage was being stripped from the area. This is the view from Scout Scar looking North with Cunswick Scar off to the right culminating on Cunswick Fell in the centre, where I later got some nice rainbow shots. The stormy conditions and fleeting light created some wonderful scenes.
I've decided it was time to try a compact mirrorless camera. I'm tired of always carrying the Nikon and all my lenses. So far, this seems to be a really nice little camera. The lenses are so light and the photos seem to be very crisp and clear.
It still seems like I'm taking pictures with a toy camera, but I'm sure I'll get used to it.
That said, the Nikon D5000 is for sale, as is the kit lens and a nice wide angle. If anyone is interested, shoot me a flickr mail.
Decided to go and explore locally, and found this tranquil spot. It was very nice to have a few minutes to myself in these rushed times, in such quiet. Taken with a Canon EOS 5D Mark 2.
Decided to have a go at reprocessing this pic of 37402 leaving Kirkby-in-Furness with the 2C47 1731 Barrow-in-Furness - Carlisle 7/5/18. (Taken using a pole)
Decided to go back and finish off the photos from my holiday with the family in Ireland. After our stay in Eire we moved north to Port Stewart in Northern Ireland. This was taken late afternoon on the day we arrived. This sea is then part of the Atlantic Ocean.
I decided to explore today, it's been too long since I have and I found this wonderful garden, the same one I took this picture in. It embodied the feel of exactly the feeling of this dress, which I do need to say is absolutely gorgeous!

Decided to try and clean up some old photo's from an Illgill Head hike with Mick.. I was never happy with the photo quality from this hike and quickly moved on..
#macromondays #checkered
I decided to share this image for the upcoming #macromondays theme called #checkered
The term checkered has multiple meanings depending on the context:
1. Pattern
In design and visual contexts, checkered refers to:
A pattern made up of alternating squares, typically in two contrasting colors, such as black and white.
It is commonly seen in items like checkered flags (used in racing), tablecloths, clothing, or tiles.
Variations include:
Regular checkered: Uniform, equally-sized squares.
Irregular checkered: Squares may vary in size or arrangement.
2. Metaphorical Meaning
In a figurative sense, checkered describes:
A history, career, or past with mixed fortunes or events, often containing both successes and failures or good and bad times.
Example: "He had a checkered past, marked by both notable achievements and controversies."
3. Other Contexts
Geography/Maps: "Checkered" might describe a landscape or map divided into squares or parcels.
Textiles: In fabric design, it’s one of the oldest patterns, often associated with certain cultural or traditional garments (like tartans or plaid).

Decided to rework this image with the use of selective coloring. Taken a couple of summers ago in Alaska.
Drum had to go on a business trip. So I decided to stay home and have a movie night and popcorn. Suddenly appeared Sir Elton, elegantly dressed in a pink tuxedo. He was bored, and he wanted to go dancing. Can you imagine what happened?. When I saw his pretty face, I couldn't refuse. Time to party!

#macromondays #GamePieces
I decided to share this image for the upcoming #macromondays theme called #GamePieces
Game pieces are physical or digital objects used in board games, tabletop games, and video games to represent players, characters, resources, or other game elements. They come in various shapes, sizes, and materials, depending on the game’s mechanics and theme.
Types of Game Pieces
Player Tokens – Represent individual players on the game board (e.g., Monopoly tokens, Chess pieces).
Meeples – Small, humanoid wooden figures used in Euro-style board games (e.g., Carcassonne).
Dice – Used for randomization, movement, or determining outcomes (e.g., Dungeons & Dragons, Yahtzee).
Cards – Can serve as game pieces when used for actions, characters, or resources (e.g., Magic: The Gathering, Uno).
Tiles – Used to build maps or change the game layout (e.g., Settlers of Catan, Mahjong).
Miniatures – Detailed figurines representing characters or units, often used in strategy and role-playing games (e.g., Warhammer, D&D).
Chips & Tokens – Represent points, money, or resources (e.g., poker chips, victory points in board games).
Board Markers or Pawns – Basic pieces used for movement on a board (e.g., Sorry!, Ludo).

I decided to spend some time tidying up my archived images and have decided that one or two are worth keeping and editing. This is one such photograph that I took in September 2018 and never bothered to do anything with. It's taken at a local reservoir so no hide used. Most of my snipe images are on nature reserves with advantage of a hide. Scout Dike Reservoir, South Yorkshire.
