Approx 250 people attended the 24/7 Marine Dealer session at the Marine Dealer Conference. Cam Collins, CEO of Exuma Technologies (makers of DockMaster and RVMaster), discussed ways to convert social media activity into a complete social media strategy. Using case studies, he answered the question many dealers are asking: How to measure ROI on social media tools.

Sandra Calligaro, Product Manager at Autologica, discussed common problems and situations in Parts, and offered some ideas for leveraging your DMS.

 

The major point that was stressed: good processes and procedures let you really leverage your DMS (provided it is leverageable!)

 

If you look closely, you will see Sandra using her mutant silver-eye powers to convince all present that I MUST HAVE AUTOLOGICA I MUST HAVE AUTOLOGICA I MUST... Only the guy in the light blue shirt was able to escape by shielding himself from the rays.

We arrived a few days before the event in order to prepare, so we actually did have a chance for some R&R, but tried our best not to enjoy it!

The hotel had a great pool, open all day and even at night. Unfortunately as we are such terribly hard workers we did not get a chance to use it...

 

We seemed to have all of Old San Juan just about to ourselves (maybe it was the extreme heat!), as we walked through the narrow cobblestone streets.

 

San Juan is the second oldest city in America (after Santo Domingo if I'm not mistaken) and this historic part of town is very well kept.

BTW this is an excellent venue for events and we highly recommend them, great place and service.

 

The seminar's format consisted of interaction between ADC and Autologica, discussing common problems in each department of a dealership, and ideas for solutions, whether through process and procedure improvements (ADC's fortee) and/or through the good use of a DMS (Autologica's field).

Some 50 people registered but around 70 came!

 

There was a Spanish-language session in the morning, and an English one in the afternoon.

 

We even had dealers fly in from Dominica, British Virgin Islands, and Haiti.

After the event and two days of private meetings with dealers, we got a chance to do some sight-seeing.
