The OSR deadline contains quite the variety of sidelined equipment at Salford Ontario.

The deadlines at NRE's Silvis facility are still pretty colorful, despite shrinking with the scrapper's torch. The facility is set to close this spring and what doesn't get moved out will be scrapped on site.

Reflection on Black.

The picture wasn’t made before the deadline of September 14th. So I did I did not publish it in the group of Smile on Saturday! :-) .

Lots o' BNSF locomotives and paint schemes among the Northtown dead line in Minneapolis. Among the bunch is BNSF 2832 with a stylish EMD GP30 body design, now designated as a GP39-2R. It started its life out as CBQ 976. The sky is filled with smoke from western wildfires and left the landscape over the Twin Cities and greater Minnesota with haze for days.

Off we travelled to Shuswap Lake, where we were once again treated to another pleasant evening. This time, the lake was still and coated in a somewhat lavender color, as reflected from the sky. A rocky perch allowed me some height and the ability to include shore line rocks in the foreground.

Those distant mountains had been toyed with throughout the day with various, big fluffy clouds. When the chance to capture them rose, it had me trading an equally opportunistic scene at Copper Island. However, it has been shot before in all kinds of weather, and this is a prospect less likely encounted.

Update: this place was destroyed in September of 2020 by the Archie Creek Fire. It will be many years before it will look like this again!

CSX GP40 6545 was still looking somewhat presentable in its Baltimore and Ohio paint with train R345 at Bayview yard in 1991.

In the corner was brand new CSX C40-8W 7700 awaiting its next assignment. The GP40 would soon depart the roster and would wind up rebuilt as Paducah and Louisville GP40-3 2111.

GE 7700 would be retired and called a deadline in Ohio home.

Over at the deadline at BNSF Argentine Yard sits a cluster of BNSF Dash 9s and other GEs. But....there's 1 that sticks out in this group. A BNSF SD40-2 still adorning the ATSF Bluebonnet scheme sits amongst the GEs.

Rosy is the editor for her college newspaper and she is working feverishly to meet tonight's deadline before printing time. Oh, the stress!

When I got my first digital camera in 2006, the newest engines roaming the NS system were these SD70M-2s. Within the past few years, they've quickly disappeared as NS has finally ended its aversion to AC traction and traffic levels have sunk systemwide. Here at Roanoke a significant portion of the fleet is seen rotting away on storage tracks.

Dozens of locomotives and slugs of are lined up on the west side of Grand Junction awaiting an uncertain fate. While GP15-1s were the highest concentration here, there were also a number of slugs from former B-Boats, as well as end cab switchers and leased GP38s.

Sad stuff in Huntington

An image from my first time setting foot in UP's Council Bluffs Yard and there's a treasure of first and second generation EMD power in the deadline. SD7 458 and slug S3 used to work the hump in North Platte. The 458 was eventually rebuilt as SD20 ICG 2032.
