On Saturday November 24th, 1973, this United States Navy Douglas DC-3 was forced to crash land on this stretch of beach in Solheimasandur.
Douglas Super DC-3 lies on a deserted black beach in Iceland. Once a symbol of U.S Navy, now probably the most well known "photographic attractions" of Iceland.

The just-completed DC Tower 3 is a 110-meter residential tower that provides housing for 832 students. It is located in Vienna's Donau City, not far from the Vienna International Center (aka UNO City).
The DC Towers (actually Donau City Towers) are three skyscrapers designed and partially completed by French architect Dominique Perrault. The first of the three towers, DC Tower 1, a hotel and office building, opened on February 26, 2014. The construction of DC Tower 2 has been enormously delayed for reasons unknown to me, but reportedly it has now begun after all.
The classic design of architect David Burnham of the elegant Union Station in Washington DC can be seen in the this image with this corridor of Bethel white granite from Vermont archways that lead ones eye to the end. Once swampland to the east of Capitol Hill, a joint effort of the Pennsylvania Railroad (PRR) and the Baltimore & Ohio Railroad (B&O) it opened in 1907 and was completed in 1908 in beautiful neoclassical Beaux-Arts architecture with many Greek and Roman elements.

This plane had been damaged in a windstorm and cannibalized. This boneyard had two more DC-3's and the adjoining airport had two flyable including one equipped as a crop duster!
A look at the satellite view (10/21) shows the three wrecks still there, but the flyables have flown.
A more obscure DC comics character (though made more popular with his inclusion in Justice League Dark), Detective Chimp holds Dr Fate's helmet in his hand, wondering what happened to the man who should be wearing it... (and I'm wondering where I can get a better looking version of said helmet)
Located in Mt. Vernon Square, just south of the Washington Convention Center is the Apple Carnegie Library. The Apple Carnegie Library was formerly the Washington DC Central Public Library which was donated to the citizens of Washington DC by Steel Magnate and entrepreneur Scottish American Andrew Carnegie which was dedicated in 1903. A beautiful Beaux-Arts building designed by New York firm of Ackerman and Ross, it served as a library for almost 70, was the first desegrated public building in DC, served the University of the District of Columbia, the Historical Society of Washington DC and finally in 2016, Apple made agreement and converted the first floor to an Apple Flagship Store. The basement serves as the Carnegie Gallery with historic photographs and the second floor houses the DC History Center. - [ ] #developportdev @gothamtomato @developphotonewsletter @omsystem.cameras #excellent_america #omsystem @bheventspace @bhphoto @adorama @tamracphoto @tiffencompany #usaprimeshot @visitwashingtondc @apple #applecarnegielibrary #microfourthirds #omd #m43photography
NS 4002 and 4004, the newest DC to AC conversions to hit the road, head west along BNSF's Mendota Subdivision at the old bridge west of Galva, IL.
I almost got completely screwed by the GALBRC, but thankfully they had baretables bringing up the rear. I almost didn't spend some PTO on these, but I thought they wouldn't be paired up forever and this may have been my only shot. Glad I did!

Anything you could ever desire from a food vending truck is here along this street at the lunch hour in Washington, DC.
I was fortunate to have a day and an evening to tour and photograph in DC last week. I was even more fortunate to meet flickr friend Scott McLeod there
(www.flickr.com/photos/dscottmcleod) for a walking tour. Scott made the trip a success with his suggestions on places and times and even exposures. Look at Scotts truly great channel.
This is a three shot combination into HDR in LR then I sharpened it in NIK to give the present look.
