The route of today is a bit North-East bound from the Aix area North to Apt and then East bound towards Manosque and then North bound again to Sisteron. We planned to drive about 155 kilometers today. The reality became 175 kilometers which is not bad for a relaxed day of traveling through the Provence.
This photo is taken on the route départementeal D543 between Éguilles and Rognes on our way to cross the Durance river near Lourmarin.

Daytime running lights: DLR
DRLs increase vehicle visibility on the road during the day
Automatic headlights will turn on when a sensor detects that it's getting dark outside. Daytime running lights, on the other hand, stay on whenever your car is running.

If the Sensor does not work correctly?
You are not visible from the rear.
And not enough visible from the front.
The driver has to set to normal light.

Das Tagfahrlicht (englisch: Daytime Running Light), auch Licht am Tag genannt, ist eine Fahrzeugbeleuchtung, die Unfälle durch Übersehen werden verringern soll.
Aus technischer Sicht ist in Europa inzwischen Tagfahrlich technisch vereinheitlicht im allen Neufahrzeugen seit 2012 vorhanden.
Aktuell erhältliche LED-Tagfahrleuchten haben unter 10 Watt, also 95 % weniger Verbrauch verglichen mit konventioneller Beleuchtung nach Abzug von unnötigen Beleuchtungseinrichtungen. Das Kraftstoffäquivalent sinkt so auf einen Wert um 0,01 l/100 km bis 0,02 l/100 km.
Standlicht, Schlussleuchten, Armaturenbeleuchtung und hintere Kennzeichenbeleuchtung bleiben dunkel und verschleißen daher auch nicht.
Das kann auch ein Nachteil sein.

Wenn der Sensor nicht korrekt arbeitet geht das Abblendlicht an oder zu früh aus.
Nur bei Abblendlicht ist das Fahrzeug rundum beleuchtet.
Der Fahrer muss dann das Abblendlicht selber fest einschalten.
Leichter Nebel oder geringe Dunkelheit oder Saharastaub werden selten korrekt erkannt.
Manchmal kommen sogar Radio Durchsagen, damit man das Abblendlicht manuell eingestellt.

On my way by foot from Bourg-Saint-Maurice to Hauteville-Gondon. I was here one year ago as well to spot some trains alond this road without a name.
Bourg Saint-Maurice
Bourg-Saint-Maurice is part of the Paradiski ski area (425 km of slopes, 141 lifts, 239 slopes - 12 Green, 132 Blue, 66 Red, 29 Black). Although there is no skiing at this altitude, it is conveniently linked to Arc 1600 by the Arc en Ciel funicular railway and is therefore home to many budget rental properties. Unlike the other villages that make up Les Arcs, Bourg-Saint-Maurice is open all year.
Bourg is also a popular summer destination, as it offers lots of opportunity for lovers of the outdoors and watersports. There is a whitewater slalom course on the Isere river used for international canoe and kayak competitions. The course on the Isere has been host to the ICF world championships and is used by many European teams as a training course in the summer. The course is often changed by the floods that occur during the winter months.
The surrounding mountains are good for walking and mountain biking. They also are a good place for paragliding and hang gliding. Some of Les Arcs ski lifts operate during July and August to get walkers to the higher peaks and you can take mountain bikes up on these. Mountain bikes ( VTT (Vélo Tout Terrain) in French) can be hired in both Bourg and Les Arcs. Some of the high altitude restaurants open in these months, the ones at Pre st Esprit and L'Arpete have small outdoor pools.
The nearest summer glacier skiing is in Tignes (approximately 27 km from Bourg) on the Grande Motte, however due to glacial recession it is now closed at certain times of the year.

These two former squatted buildings have been demolished. For years these buildings were hotspots of street art and graffiti in Amsterdam. Now this corner will be the location of an apartment building where people with enough euros can call it home.

Walking on a partly cloudy afternoon from the Belleville area to Place de la République. This street is a gives a good idea what is going on Paris and the rest of France. A mix of food, culture and people.

This street starts at Place de la République and ends at boulevard de la Villette. Has a length of 996 meters and a width of 20 meters. It is served by the 5 metro lines at Place de la République (3,5, 8, 9 and 11) and métro stations Goncourt (11) and Belleville (2, 11). The street forms the border with the 10ème and 11ème arrondissement.

The Quai Voltaire is a street located in the 7th arrondissement of Paris. 308 meters long, it lies between the Quai Malaquais and Quai Anatole-France. The Quai Voltaire begins at the Rue des Saints-Pères and ends at the Rue de Bac and the Pont Royal.
Originally the Quai Voltaire was the western portion of the Quai Malaquais. In 1644 it was renamed Quai des Théatins after some Theatines built a monastery on the quai (Today located at No. 23 and No. 25 Quai Voltaire). In 1791, the wharf became known as the Quai Voltaire in homage to the writer who died in 1778 in the home of Charles, marquis de Villette. After Honoré de Balzac set his novel La Peau de chagrin in the Quai Voltaire, antique shops became common in the quai. Driving in the direction of Sénas on our way to Gordes along Mallemort and its commune Pont Royal. All part of the old Nationale 7 which seems to be still perfectly intact here.

The Route nationale 7, or RN 7, is a trunk road (nationale) in France between Paris and the border with Italy. It was also known as Route des vacances (Vacation Road), Route bleue (Blue Road), and — sarcastically, during the annual rush to the Mediterranean beaches — the Route de la mort (Road of Death).
The Romans under Marcus Agrippa established a network of roads in 20 AD radiating from the then capital of the Gauls at Lugdunum (Lyon), known collectively as Via Agrippa. From Lugdunum the road north passed towards Lutèce (Paris) following roughly the route of current RN 6, and southward towards Rome, skirting the Rhone and passing through Arausio (Orange) and following the edge of the Mediterranean, like the current RN 7.
In the 15th century, with the creation of the royal post by Louis XI, a coherent network of roads was set up. Porte de Vincennes
Another space invaders in Summer 2014 colors along the Périphérique in the 20ème arrondissement of Paris. Very well visible on the périf intérieur. Traffic is 'fluide' here on this Saturday morning when the space invader is just having its first rays of morning sun.

Driving through La Destrousse to Auriol on the good old Route Nationale 96. Here this road is called the Route des Vignerols but some kilometers further down -after the village La Destrousse itself- this D96 is still called Route Nationale 96 to keep the old name in remembrance.

For some reason aires (or rest areas or road side parkings) are almost never a good place for photos. You drive through a beautiful region with scenic vistas and paradisiacal landscapes and you are fortunate to find an aire to park to take some photos it is most of the time very disappointing. Same here along the D840. Even Mister Bloomingdales didn't like the view as there was no view at all.
We stayed here a couple of minuts to continue the roadtrip with some beautiful photo opportunities while driving.

We left Rocamadour at 11h35 and after visiting a view point to see Rocamadour from a distance we went Eastbound via Gramat, Figeac, Capdenac, Décazeville and Rodez. After a McLunch we drove via Ségur to our final destination for this day; Millau where we arrived at 16h38 after driving 186 kilometers (planning was 180 kilometers).
