"Alone we can do so little; together we can do so much."

Helen Keller

I'm sorry for uploading the photo today but I didn't had an internet connection until now!

We spent the weekend on the snow...walking and walking and walking...we have to train for the Lapland trip :D

By the way, it was so relaxing staying away from television and internet =)

Starting on 3rd January 2021, I'm participating in my Camera Club's 30 day project challenge.

The subject for day twenty three is "view from a window".

This features an excellent photography book by portrait photographer gregoryheisler.com/

Title just for Heather, who kindly gave me a one time only freedom to pun pass.

So this is how today went.

1) Get up, with firm plan to return to the same spot as yesterday, to take exactly the same shots as I got, but didn't use yesterday.

2) Confidence wobbles slightly as fabulous sunrise spotted on the way to work... Never mind, too late to go anywhere decent to shoot it.

3) Take lunch at 11.30, saying farewell to colleagues including my Dad, who had made me some sandwiches for lunch, despite me being 35.... Early lunch in theory to beat a new band of snow coming but largely down to strange sense of excitement.

4) Drive 20 minutes to Gilsland Spa and walk down into the Irthing Gorge for 5 minutes. In all the excitement realise should have gone to bathroom before I left. Will spare you further details (beware yellow snow....)

5) Follow footsteps across the snow and ice that I left the previous day, avoiding the ones where I had broken through the ice and risk 'welly overflow'. Set up camera in exactly the same spot as yesterday. Take exactly the same shot as yesterday.

6) Back up the hill to the car, drive back to work, suffer long afternoon due to going on lunch so early.

7) Get back, look at my photos and have to check the EXIF data as can't work out which shots were on which days.

Strange isn't it. I could have just used the shot from the previous day. Nobody would know, you can't tell them apart. I could have saved driving, the cold, diesel, eating sandwiches and getting crumbs all over my car.... But no, in a logic defying way I had to re-take it on the right day. One small bonus I suppose was the icicles that have formed on the branch dipping into the water, they're new!

We are all strange.

yea, the putt-putt storm (so named by f2point8, aka bruce, for its slow arrival speed), dropped its inches of white stuff, has passed out to sea and the sun is out ~yea!!!.... so it was organizing time this morning and whilst i was doing that, it occurred to me that i had a whole drawer full of small yellow photo props.

interesting where the inspirations come from.

fun on black

There’s a tinge of eeriness about a lot of places throughout the midwest, especially in the middle of January. This is a processed snapshot from a park near Lincoln, Nebraska. The school house in the background sits right on the edge of a prairie. The fields go on for miles. The school bus was a nice touch, so I felt like I had to take a picture to capture this particular composition.

I’ve had a lot of dreams that I’m stuck inside of something or coming out of some sort of space. These kinds of dreams come in many forms, but the most memorable are the ones when I’m fighting to get out of the darkness or to see light. Those have been some of my scariest dreams, the ones that no matter how hard I try I can’t seem to see anything. I have my own interpretation of this photo, but instead of me trying to explain it, I would much rather have the viewers derive their own meanings.

The light which puts out our eyes is darkness to us. Only that day dawns to which we are awake. There is more day to dawn. The sun is but a morning star. – Henry David Thoreau

Comments & tips are welcomed. Thanks.

Had to go into NYC today to check out the exhibit at International Centre of Photography. I made Nick tag along and we had a lot of fun. It was like 50 degrees out today so other than the 30 minutes we spent in the museum we were out side all day. It was really nice.

I liked that the colours of the lines on the cup matched the colours of her glasses :)

I spent the day with my family and didn't go to class (oops). Great day.

Explored #85 Jan 25th. Thanks :)

Serene view of the river Indus on way from Leh to Alchi. The view was so peaceful & breathtaking it made us stop over for a few minutes to appreciate & capture the beautiful scene forever in our memories.

30 Days of Perception - Day 25 - Depth

It's not easy to find a large uncluttered view when you live in the city. I did manage to get this shot by zooming in between buildings and other obstacles.

I love being able to see clear views of the horizon. It makes me feel uncluttered inside and free and encourages deep, slow breathing which is very calming. Such a view takes clears all the little thought forms from twirling inside my head! I feel renewed from head to toe and I have touched on the essential of existence!

Slightly pixellated due to a bizarre ritual of having to email to different Macs (long story).

This is a milestone in the 365 project, wasn't sure if id make it past the week! Only 340 days to go :)

Just a boring "me trapped in technology" shot. Nothing special (I got some help from the wife in aligning my face to the laptop -- used Photoshop to zoom/align the image on the screen).

Ok..I'll be the first to admit it. I have been super moody lately. People have really been getting under my skin!

This is Ms. Monnie, she came to me sad & almost crying Aj her cousin had done something to her.

She told me she would let me take her picture but she didn't want to look or smile.

This is just by window light through the curtain in my bedroom.

... as seen on our balcony.

not like the icy ground that my husband slipped on last night...

sunlight was hitting the water drops left behind on my shower doors, I had my macro gear set up on my camera and though it would help make an interesting abstract.

A tad on the misty/foggy side this morning, so much so I couldn't see the sea from the road near the beach. This view is of a little lake and island in Egerton Park, Bexhill.

(Thanks to Pauls Pix 53 for sugguesting this location for a misty shot.)

This is also for #45 "Misty" of the 365 Don't Stop Me Now Treasure Hunt.

Also for #77 of 114 pictures in 2014 "Stillness".

And for #74 of 100 pictures of 2014 "Winter".
