This cabin is part of the Oconaluftee Mountain Farm Museum. It is located near Cherokee, North Carolina. Our family always stops in and visits this beautiful farm to take a walk back in time. Along with the Davis home there are historic buildings located on the grounds including a meat house, chicken house, apple house, corn crib, gear shed, barn, blacksmith shop and springhouse. ...We always look forward to seeing it!

The Davis Mountains are a range of mountains in West Texas, located near Fort Davis, after which they are named. Most of the land in the Davis Mountains is under private ownership as ranch land, but The Nature Conservancy owns or has conservation easements on more than 100,000 acres (40,000 ha). Rather than being a single coherent range, the Davis Mountains are an irregular jumble of isolated peaks and ridges separated by flatter areas. The mountains occupy a rough square about 50 km (31 mi) on each side.

Fourteen structures have been damaged by the Davis Fire and additional assessment will be done when it is safe to do, the U.S. Forest Service said Sunday night.

The 6,500-acre fire is burning in heavy timber and brush. Gusty winds are expected for the rest of the week. There is zero containment.

The southern end of the western side of the fire grew the most in Sunday’s winds, moving along the Mount Rose Highway. Crews mostly held the other fronts of the fire.

Most highways have reopened, although U.S. 395 is closed in Washoe Valley.

About 12,000 to 14,000 people are under evacuation orders in south Reno. The number of customers without power in Washoe County on Sunday night was 4,453. At its peak, about 17,000 customers were without power.

Her hair is Harlow gold

Her lips are sweet surprise

Her hands are never cold

She got Bette Davis eyes

She'll turn her music on

You won't have to think twice

She's pure as New York snow

She got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you

She'll unease you

All the better just to please you

She's precocious and she knows just

What it takes to make a crow blush

She got Greta Garbo stand off sighs

She got Bette Davis eyes

She'll let you take her home

It whets her appetite

She'll lay you on her throne

She got Bette Davis eyes

She'll take a tumble on you

Roll you like you were dice

Until you come out blue

She's got Bette Davis eyes

She'll expose you, when she blows you

Off your feet with the crumbs she throws you

She's ferocious and she knows just

What it takes to make a crow blush

All the boys think she's a spy

She's got Bette Davis eyes

And she'll tease you

She'll unease you

All the better just to please you

She's ferocious, and she knows just

What it takes to make a crow blush

All the boys think she's a spy

She's got Bette Davis eyes

She's got Bette Davis eyes

"And she'll tease you, she'll unease you

All the better just to please you

She's precocious, and she knows just what it

Takes to make a pro blush

She got Greta Garbo's standoff sighs, she's got Bette Davis eyes" ;o)

Taken during a bike ride in the Rideau Lakes area. This is Davis lock, which is known as a “solitude lock,” one of the most remote locks on the Rideau. Part of its remoteness is due to the fact that it's on a dead-end road. It's named after Walter Davis Jr. who built a sawmill here in about 1818.

Davis, Ca. April, 2020.

Long after sunset I returned to the pier in Davis Bay to witness the most wonderful and perfectly contrasting colors. This time in place of including the new pier which resides to the left, only the old and original stanchions would serve as the base. An anchor if you will permit a very bad pun.

The uniquely shaped and wispy cloud that remained stationary above the pylons, was now a faint puff that looked more like a tattoo than a cloud in the sky. The scene was remarkably peaceful and I think this is a place where one could get forever lost in its tranquil moods and soothing visual melody.

Davis Creek Falls is a nice cascade found in the north Georgia mountains (outside of Helen, and near Raven Cliff Falls) while hiking to the larger (and very different) Duke's Creek Falls. If my information is correct, both falls are actually on Davis Creek, but Duke's Creek Falls is found essentially where the two creeks converge, thus leading to the different name. Sometimes you see the falls shown here referred to as 'Duke's Creek Falls #1', as it's encountered first on the trail. Once you descend the steep stairs coming down from the parking area, pay attention to the steep gorge on the right - this is where this falls is found. A nice little muddy scramble is required to get down to the creek level. I bet in high water conditions this is a pretty powerful waterfall - not so much in the low water of late summer!

A candid snapped before the start of the 12 Marias procession at Venice Carnival 2019. This reenactor was chatting with her friend, I waited a bit for her to look aside and snap her face vis-a-vis. She definitely has a resemblance with the actress Geena Davis (and a bit of Cristiano Ronaldo as well).
