Last Wednesday I was able to catch both the empties and loads on NHN with little effort. I got word that Dover was packed full of interchange and knew a full green set had gone south the day before. With gas, steel, and oil I knew there would be a chance they may be pretty late getting into the pit. I got the timely heads up as I was taking my lunch that they had just departed Tri-City, so I headed downtown to see what was available. Although not the most ideal conditions, it was better than the cloud mess forecasted, and I got a quick visit in with the friendly folks waterside in Lebanon, Maine. They had an impressive 53 cars going north.

The date was JANUARY 31, 2018. It was in the news that there will be a TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE early in the morning that day. It was also dubbed the SUPERMOON! And so, I waited, and waited, and waited. This photo was taken at 5:36AM! NO, I didn't get up early, I stayed awake and WAITED! I must have been crazy!

The church of Saint Dunat, located near the village of Kornić on the island of Krk, is believed to date from the 12th century, although there are speculations that it was built earlier. The church was heavily damaged in an explosion in 1945, after which it was reconstructed.
With roots dating back to 1873, the Rutledge Home name is deeply embedded in the Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin community.
As a memorial to his wife, Hannah, and a desire to provide shelter and care for the aged, Mr. Edward Rutledge, bequeathed funds in his will for the construction of The Hannah M. Rutledge Home for the Aged. Construction took place from 1910-1913, and on May 1, 1913 the home opened at 300 Bridgewater Avenue in Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin. Those that moved in could stay at Rutledge Home for as long as they needed, under the condition they turned over all of their assets to Rutledge Charities upon their passing.

Dans cette œuvre, les lignes gravées évoquent à la fois : des trajets, des mémoires inscrites dans la matière, des forces invisibles qui circulent entre passé et présent.
Le titre invoque la figure du grand-père – non seulement un ancêtre familial, mais une présence symbolique : celui qui porte le savoir, la continuité, la survivance.
Placée dehors, soumise au vent, à la neige et aux saisons, la sculpture devient elle-même un être vivant dans le paysage. L’hiver, la neige agit presque comme un voile rituel qui révèle certaines lignes et en cache d’autres.

Origin of the artist: Inuk, born in Paulatuk (NWT), having grown up between Inuit traditions and Southern culture. Meaning and reading Piqtoukun is recognized for his sculptures which unite: inuit myths personal stories reflection on the passage between cultural worlds.
In this work, the engraved lines evoke both: journeys, memories inscribed in matter, invisible forces that circulate between past and present.
The title invokes the figure of the grandfather – not only a family ancestor, but a symbolic presence: the one who carries knowledge, continuity, survival.
Placed outside, subject to the wind, snow and seasons, the sculpture itself becomes a living being in the landscape. In winter, snow acts almost like a ritual veil that reveals certain lines and hides others.

I think here you can also notice the unusual shape of the beak, hence it being a broadbill.
I have all my photos organized in albums by species and family. However, so far, this is the only member of this family that I have photographed.
In my opinion, the most beautiful one is the black-and-yellow, but to capture it, I need to return to Malaysia and not miss the opportunity.

I can't think of a more perfect place for a date than on the Oregon coast at sunset.
I am sure the couple that I captured in this image were thinking the same thing. :-)
It's mating season for short horned, green grasshoppers. And this bunch of allium seed heads looked like the dance floor at the prom - there were half a dozen grasshoppers dressed in their finest and looking for love.
I took my car in to town for two new tyres and had some time to kill, so I had a walk around the Castle Grounds Park land in Tamworth and took some pictures of the trees with my iPhone. This is a Willow on the banks of the River Anchor just before the confluence with the River Tame. Date: 1st November, 2023.
