Mrs. Krach and I traveled to visit with friends up in Darlington, Maryland. I usually go past this pretty cemetery on my way to Conowingo Dam to capture the eagles that migrate in this time of year.
I have always wanted to stop and take some captures there, but always in a hurry to get to the Dam. Today it rained most of the day, but towards the late afternoon the winds really picked up and the storm skies started to clear. As we headed towards the small town of Darlington, the sunset colors were beginning. I made the decision to stop in at the cemetery at sunset, a quick stop before we went to the party (which was fun also).
Was treated to some great colors in the sky, colors that like shown here really went into theme well with the colors in the pretty trees there.
A magnificent railway clock hangs on a cast-iron bracket on platform 4 of Darlington station in County Durham. Clocks like this one were vital to standardise time-keeping for the rail companies and passengers. In times gone by, the clock would be checked and wound every week.
When the standard Fleetline single deck became unavailable, Darlington's purchases became very varied. Representing the Pennine bodied Seddon RU's is 61 (WHN 461M), seen here near the clock tower bound for Hummersknott Estate on route 3B
A classic scene at Darlington station - apart from contemporary signage and seats, and the overhead electrification, little has changed over the decades, especially with the presence of Class 37 37403 standing in the station with the Doncaster-Merchant Park Sidings-Saltburn ''The Merchant of Teesside' Branch Line Society charter on Saturday 9th April.

Although there was still plenty of snow on the hills, a rapid thaw at lower levels put a strain on the local streams.
OK yes I had to stand in the same spot on a cold windy day for half an hour and then stitch strips of images together.... On the left, the 1225 Liverpool Lime Street - Newcastle, then 142023 on the Saltburn run, 1514 arrival and 1518 departure, then 82206 on the 1300 Edinburgh - Kings Cross, then 66027 on the 0824 Mossend - Tees Dock.
I chased 557's train west to Calamine this day and wanted to try a shot at Darlington on his return east. The film developer put two nasty colored stripes in this roll of film, so I didn't care for this shot. I'm learning Photoshop, however, and removed them.
Darlington station, along with many others with an overall roof, often provides some lovely lighting opportunities. Just wish I'd come here more often!
