Terre Rouge is located in an area of Luxembourg which has been associated with iron mining and steel production since 1843. This facility began its life in 1872 and was part of the iron ore refining process up until the 1980s.
The class leader for the 86XX's has the honor of leading Q649 this evening, seen here hopping off the B&OCT and onto the C&EI at Dolton. Q501 a few hours earlier left town with the CSXT 8620 and 8572 as well. Not a bad day if you are a fan of SD50's.
As the warm September evening slowly comes to an end, we find the classic style of the spartan Dash 8 working Westward towards the electric lock at Division St. while passing beneath the seemingly endangered classics at Hoffman.
CSXT 8237 waits to go South on the CGW's former Kansas City Line. Sadly, that will not be happening today.

She Came Back for the Sky captures the moment before reclamation of a world, a body, or an identity. The ring, a recurring motif in my work, symbolizes thresholds and voids, both exit and return. The terrain around her is suffocatingly foreign, yet reflective of our own decay. Her stance, vulnerable and unguarded, reaches not for salvation, but for memory. The metal has not consumed her; it has revealed her. This piece interrogates rebirth in post-human landscapes, and what is left of the self once desire has been excavated.

In They Kept Walking, I wanted to capture the numbness of collective obedience. The red masses are not monsters—they are ruptures. They rise from below as warnings, signals, or perhaps forgotten sacrifices. But the figures? They walk through it, blind. The architecture remains pristine, unshaken. But the ground is no longer still. This piece asks: when does the system become so normalized that even the surreal fails to wake us?

Throughput is a meditation on scale and submission. Inspired by the aesthetics of wartime factories, data centers, and oil refineries, I imagined what happens when human life is routed entirely through productivity logic. The figures nearly indistinguishable are isolated by their tasks and united by infrastructure. The oppressive overhead pipes are not merely architectural; they are veins in a larger organism, carrying the lifeblood of compliance. I used generative tools to amplify a sense of scale that felt claustrophobic instead of grand. This isn’t just a workforce—it’s a fossil in the making. A reminder that systems don't sleep. They pulse.

Cradled within a ruptured sphere, the figure reclines as if birthed from an alien womb. Its head, crowned by a glowing red orb, peers out from the dark hollow—a sentinel between two worlds. The shell around it is cracked and streaked with black, as though bleeding memories into the floor. Here, the watcher is both protected and trapped, suspended in an endless moment of becoming.
Artist Process:
The work blends biomorphic form with industrial ruin, evoking both organic birth and mechanical decay. The metallic, lacquered surfaces of the figure’s clothing echo the smooth, shell-like cavity in which it rests, creating a visual loop between host and inhabitant. The deliberate texturing of the cracked shell disrupts the symmetry, suggesting corrosion and time’s slow violence. The red orb serves as the singular source of vitality, a symbol of inner consciousness that contrasts sharply against the monochromatic shell and floor.

Collapsed into the slow pull of the earth, the figure sits suspended between surrender and endurance. Glossed in darkness, their form seems to melt into the floor, becoming indistinguishable from the shadow that cradles them. A single red cord, thin yet unbroken, slips from their faceless helm—a lifeline, a wound, or perhaps the last thread of connection to a world they no longer face.
Artist Process:
This work centers on a minimal yet powerful palette—deep blacks and muted bronze tones—broken only by the arresting red cord. The figure’s posture conveys gravity without motion, an emotional weight that seeps into the surrounding space. The high-lacquer textures mimic the viscous drag of oil or tar, creating a tactile tension between fluidity and stillness. The smooth, featureless helmet strips away identity, shifting focus to the body’s language and the symbolic contrast between the oppressive dark and the singular red.

A figure reclines in a quiet void, their form swallowed by an endless spill of blackened cords, like veins torn from a forgotten machine. Beneath the reflective curve of the visor, a faint ember of red glows against the face, hinting at a heartbeat or a thought that refuses to die. The stillness feels heavy here—every coiled strand a tether to something unseen, every loop a memory that refuses to loosen. It is rest, but it is also entanglement, a surrender to the weight of connection.
Artist Process:
The piece was built around contrasts of fluidity and rigidity—polished leather-like surfaces against the chaotic, snaking lines of the cables. Light was sculpted to ripple across each curve, amplifying depth while keeping the palette almost monochromatic, save for the concentrated crimson in the face. The choice to obscure the eyes with a near-perfect black visor heightens anonymity and abstraction, turning the figure into an archetype rather than an individual. The cords, draped deliberately to spill beyond the frame, extend the scene’s reach and imply a network far larger than what the viewer can see.
