Origin of the name: Darius is from the Greek masculine name Dareios which is a transliteration of a Persian name. It is thought to be derived from Darayavahush (the name of several Persian kings), from the elements “dâraya” (to possess) and “vahu” (good).
Probably the most famous of all name bearers was the 5th/6th century BC Persian king known as Darius the Great.
He ruled the empire at its peak, when it included much of West Asia, parts of the Caucasus, parts of the Balkans (Thrace-Macedonia, and Paeonia), most of the Black Sea coastal regions, Central Asia, as far as the Indus Valley in the far east and portions of north and northeast Africa including Egypt (this is why I assembled Egyptian views with the bracelet).
He is still remembered for his strong and wise rule over the great Persian Empire from 522 BCE until his death in 486 BCE.
He was known for religious tolerance, the promotion of education and agriculture and the construction of roads.

Backstory: Darius Dread is the father of the current Dreadvolt, Darren. He, like the rest of his family, is very well known in the city of Newbourne, as one of the biggest crime families. Darius grew up in an abusive home, with his father, the previous Dreadvolt, lashing out at him for his subordinates failures. Eventually, Darius had enough of the abuse, which led to him murdering his father, when he was eighteen. After being broken out of prison, Darius would reach out to Irelyn LaFontaine, a reporter who would write him letters while he was in prison. The two would meet for the first time soon after, which led to a relationship. It wasn't long, before the two of them were married, and Darren would be born. He didn't want to be his father, and while he still had high expectations of Darren, he never physically, or verbally abused him. He was rather protective of his son, and when others in the family had doubts, Darius would stand up for Darren. As he gets older, Darius has opted to not go out in costume as much. But he's still quite dangerous, and if anyone crosses him, or his family, he will make them pay.
