Remember Dallas? He's the kitten we wanted first.. but the woman who works at the shelter told us he was to be adopted by someone else... those people never showed up to take him.. The shelter called this morning while I was in the shower... They reminded us that today is the day we can pick Miles up...

I asked about Dallas... they said if we wanted him, that we could adopt him, too.. so, here's Dallas. Dallas is very loving and friendly.

They told us these two were friends...which is good...because they're going to grow up together. 🐈

Safeway located at 10909 Webb Chapel Rd in Dallas,TX. The building is currently occupied by a Hispanic market operating under the name Rio Grande Latin Market.

Note this store originally had a gabled facade, however when Safeway renovated the building in the late 1970s a new facade was installed. Its also worth noting this Safeway (along with numerous additional DFW locations) was sold to Minyard's in 1987 which operated in the building until the late 2000's. Following the closure of Minyard's an independently owned grocery store under the name Super Plaza operated in the building until 2014. After sitting vacant for two years the former Safeway store was acquired by Rio Grande Latin Market.

The Pegasus is the mascot of the City of Dallas. This Pegasus landmark statue flew high above the Dallas skyline for more than sixty years until the elements finally made it necessary to bring the winged icon back to earth. Dallas' Flying Red Horse

I travelled to Dallas to visit some immediate and extended family to view the eclipse. The forecast had been iffy leading up to it, but a couple blocks from my uncle's house we lucked out and got some unobstructed totality. We only had about 2 and a half minutes of totality (some of that with some wispy clouds in the way), and in that length of time I had to rapidly figure out a few good compositions and exposures for a completely new shooting experience. This shot is really as good as I could have hoped for, sharply capturing all the main elements of a total solar eclipse in one frame: nice coronal structure, a bit of "diamond ring", Bailey's beads, and a few prominences. You can even see the magnetic field lines in the corona around some of the prominences!

Dallas was founded in 1841 and formally incorporated as a city in February 1856. The city's economy is primarily based on banking, commerce, telecommunications, computer technology, energy, and transportation, and the city is home to the third largest concentration of Fortune 500 companies in the nation. Located in North Texas and a major city in the American South, Dallas is a core of the largest inland metropolitan area in the United States that lacks any navigable link to the sea. - Wiki
