Origen (185-254 AD), a noted early church bible scholar and teacher, explains the significance of Jesus' transfiguration for our own lives:
"Do you wish to see the transfiguration of Jesus? Behold with me the Jesus of the Gospels. Let him be simply apprehended. There he is beheld both "according to the flesh" and at the same time in his true divinity. He is beheld in the form of God according to our capacity for knowledge. This is how he was beheld by those who went up upon the lofty mountain to be apart with him. Meanwhile those who do not go up the mountain can still behold his works and hear his words, which are uplifting. It is before those who go up that Jesus is transfigured, and not to those below. When he is transfigured, his face shines as the sun, that he may be manifested to the children of light, who have put off the works of darkness and put on the armor of light. They are no longer the children of darkness or night but have become the children of day. They walk honestly as in the day. Being manifested, he will shine to them not simply as the sun but as he is demonstrated to be, the sun of righteousness." (Commentary on Matthew)

MEDITATION
“How can we fight fear with FAITH? Jesus' sleeping presence on the storm-tossed sea reveals the sleeping FAITH of HIS disciples. They feared for their lives even though their Lord and Master was with them in the boat. They were asleep to Christ while HE was present to them in their hour of need.
“The Lord is ever present to us. And in our time of testing HE asks the same question: Why are you afraid? Have you no FAITH? Do you recognize the Lord's presence with you, especially when you meet the storms of adversity, sorrow, and temptation? Whenever we encounter trouble, the Lord is there with the same reassuring message: "It is I, do not be afraid."
“Let the Love of Christ rule your heart and mind…
Fear does not need to cripple us from taking right action or rob us of our Trust and Reliance on God. Courage working with FAITH enables us to embrace God's word of Truth and Love with Confidence and to act on it with firm Hope in God's Promises. The Love of God strengthens us in our FAITH and Trust in HIM and enables us to act with Justice and Kindness towards our neighbor even in the face of opposition or harm…”

Scripture: Luke 11 - The Lamp of the Body
"35 Be careful, then, that the LIGHT within you is not darkness. 36 So if your whole body is full of LIGHT, and no part of it in darkness, you will be radiant, as though a lamp were shining on you.”
MEDITATION :
"Jesus used the image of eyesight to convey an important spiritual principle. Bad eyesight is often used as a metaphor for stupidity and spiritual blindness. The eye is the window of the heart, mind, and "inner being" of a person.
"If the window is clouded, dirty, or marred in any manner, the LIGHT will be deflected and diminished. Just so with the "inner being" of a person!
"How we "see" affects the "inner life", "heart", and "soul" of an individual. What can blind or distort our "vision" of what is true, good, lovely, pure and everlasting (Philippians 4:8)?
"Certainly prejudice, jealousy, and self-conceit cause distortion or blindness. Prejudice destroys good judgment and blinds us to the facts and to their significance for us. Jealousy makes us distrustful and suspicious of others and distorts our ability to accurately examine the facts.
"We need to fearlessly examine ourselves to see if we are living according to right principles or if we might be misguided by prejudice or some other conceit. Love is not jealous ...but rejoices with the Truth (1 Cor. 13:4-6).
"Do you rejoice in what is right and good and do you live your life in the LIGHT of God's Truth?"
PRAYER
"Lord, your word is life for us. Fill me with your LIGHT and Truth, and give me understanding of your ways. Free me from all that is false, illusory, ugly, and unloving. Let my heart know only one treasure -- the Joy and Bliss of union with you -- Father, Son, and Holy Spirit."

"Why does Jesus speak of Himself as the Light of the World? In the scriptures Light is associated with God's Truth and Life.
“Psalm 27 exclaims, The Lord is my Light and my Salvation.
"Just as natural Light exposes the darkness and reveals what is hidden, so God's word enables those with eyes of faith to perceive the hidden truths of God's kingdom. Natural Light also brings warmth and enables seed to sprout and living things to grow. Jesus' words produce life — the very life of God — within those who receive it with faith.
"To reject Jesus' Words is to reject the WORD OF GOD and to bring condemnation upon oneself. Jesus made it clear that He did not come to condemn, but rather to bring Life and Freedom to those who would accept Him.

MEDITATION
“…How can we cooperate with the Lord’s pruning? Sometimes it’s helpful to reflect on whether we have become too set in our habits or ways of thinking. Maybe we tend to respond to challenges too defensively. Maybe we need to reexamine our priorities. Or perhaps we have other blind spots. If you see anything like this, simply ask the Spirit, “Is this an opportunity for me to be pruned?”
“If the answer is yes, we can turn to the Lord in repentance. Then we can give him permission to gently cut away the tangled vines in our lives that are blocking the flow of his life.
“There’s no doubt that the experience of pruning can be painful. Yet we can trust that our faithful and loving Lord knows exactly what he’s doing. He will stay close to us as he prunes us and helps us to bear fruit in every area of our lives.”
PRAYER
“Lord Jesus, I trust that you will cleanse and prune me so that I can bear fruit for you!”

MEDITATION
“God is generous and gives us work for His kingdom…
God is generous in opening the doors of His kingdom to all who will enter, both those who have labored a life-time for Him and those who come at the last hour. While the reward is the same, the motive for one's labor can make all the difference. Some work only for reward. They will only put in as much effort as they think they will get back. Others labor out of Love and Joy for the opportunity to work and to Serve others. The Lord Jesus calls each one of us to Serve God and His kingdom with Joy and Zeal and to Serve our neighbor with a generous spirit as well.
“Empowered to serve with a joyful and generous spirit…
The Lord Jesus wants to fill each one of us with the power and strength of the Holy Spirit so we can bear great fruit for God's kingdom (the fruit of Peace, Joy, Righteousness, and Love) and also bring the fruit of His kingdom to our neighbor as well. We labor for the Lord to bring Him Praise, Honor, and Glory. And we labor for our neighbor for their welfare with the same spirit of Loving-Kindness and Compassion which the Lord has shown to us.
“Paul the Apostle reminds us, ‘Whatever your task, work heartily, as serving the Lord and not others, knowing that from the Lord you will receive the inheritance as your reward - you are serving the Lord Christ’ (Colossians 3:23-24). Do you perform your daily tasks and responsibilities with cheerfulness and diligence for the Lord's sake? And do you give generously to others, especially to those in need of your care and support?”

“Who can claim authority and power over life and death itself? Jesus not only made such a claim, HE showed God's power to heal and restore people to wholeness of life. HE also showed the mercy of God by releasing people from their burden of sin and guilt.
“…Jesus states that to accept HIM is Life - a Life of abundant Peace and Joy with God. But if we reject HIM, then we freely choose for death - an endless separation with an all-loving and merciful God. Do you want the abundant Life which Jesus offers? Believe in HIM, the living Word of God, who became a man for our sake and our salvation, and reject whatever is false and contrary to the Gospel - the good news HE came to give us.”

MEDITATION
“Are you ready to follow the Lord Jesus wherever HE may lead you? With the call the Lord gives the grace to respond and the strength to follow all the way to the end. Why does Jesus issue a challenge with the call? Jesus was utterly honest in telling people what it would cost to follow HIM. When a would-be disciple approached Jesus and said he was ready to follow, Jesus told him it would require sacrifice - the sacrifice of certain creaturely comforts. Jesus appealed to this man's heart and told him to detach himself from whatever might hold him back. Spiritual detachment is a necessary step for following the Lord. It frees us to give ourselves without reserve to the Lord and HIS service. While many of us may not need to give up the comfort of our own home and bed to follow Jesus, we, nonetheless, must be willing to part with anything that might stand in the way of doing God's will…”

God’s gifts are abundant, life-giving, and eternal. Turn to HIM for this Living Water in the sacraments. Trust in HIM.
WHAT DOES THE LORD PERSONALLY WANT ME TO DO?
- Trust HIM to provide.
- Turned to HIM when I am thirsty and I need.

WHAT IS THE LORD PERSONALLY SAYING TO ME?
What holds the greatest value—treasure, a rare pearl, or a net full of fish? Each is precious to someone. Yet, the treasure I offer you surpasses them all. It is your faith, the church, the sacraments, and the Bible. Above all, it is your relationship with Me—embracing both the person you were and the person you are becoming. I cherish every part of you.
WHAT DOES THE LORD PERSONALLY WANT ME TO DO?
- SEE Him every day in all these treasures He has given to me.
- BUILD and GROW in this relationship that He is calling me to be a part of.
- SEEK Him and His Will in everything in every way. Ask for Wisdom to know Gods Will…
- TRUST that God CARES about every detail/issue in my life, … that He is there for me in all my needs, worries, desires, and dreams... Psalm 37:23, 1 Peter 5:7.
- REMEMBER that “God is Working EVERYTHING Out FOR GOOD for those who Love HIM”. Romans 8:28
PRAYER
Continue to lead and guide me Lord to a closer relationship with YOU. Help me to see YOU in everything and in every way be a part of my life. YOU are my pearl and I Thank YOU and Love YOU for calling me out of the darkness and in to your wonderful Light.
