For those of you who overindulged in turkey dinner, how about some nice healthy lobster for Boxing Day instead of turkey leftovers :-)

The jetties at Mutrah’s fishing harbor bustle with activity as locals gather to fish just before sunset. Though many didn’t speak English, they were friendly and eager to engage, proudly showing off their catch of the day. Fishing here isn’t just a pastime; for many, it’s a way to provide fresh seafood for their families. The atmosphere is vibrant, with people using simple rods or handlines. It’s a true glimpse into the blend of tradition, community, and daily life in Mutrah.

Read Island Gem oyster from Sawmill Bay Shellfish. These are my new favourites. They're tiny but they're so creamy. I picked up a few from The Daily Catch on Commercial Drive.

Myanmar, Ngapali. Two men bring their daily catch.

Every single morning all the fisherman from the little village at Ngapali Beach come back home with their night catch. At the beach all the women wait for them and afterwards work with drying and selling fish and other creatures from the sea begins.

Went to The Daily Catch and picked up two dozen Sawmill Bay oysters, a dozen Kusshi oysters, and a Dungeness crab a while ago when my friend visited from Toronto a while back. She steamed the crab with ginger and green onion and we had a feast, shucking the oysters at home, eating them raw on the half shell and garnishing with fresh lemon wedges and horseradish.

Amidst the urban shuffle of the Bosphorus Embankment, "Where Sea Meets Street: The Angler's Pride" captures a poignant moment of triumph as an older fisherman strides with the fruits of his patience. This singular frame from the "Where Sea Meets Street" series spotlights the personal victory within the city's daily tapestry.

The fisherman, a steadfast figure against the backdrop of everyday life, embodies the enduring spirit of Istanbul's many souls who find solace and sustenance at the water's edge. His catch in hand, he walks with the quiet confidence of one who knows the Bosphorus' depths, a narrative as rich as the city itself.

A wonderful fish (which I now think is a Gunnard), taken in San Miguel Market in Madrid. Great place. Just sorry that he is dead!

Tiny joint, Hanover street. Smaller than my bedroom. These jokers here - raw clams - are an entirely different ballgame than oysters. I didn't have oysters because this was what the restaurant had.

Ashamedly I hid the last one underneath an empty and pretended I'd finished all six.
