Hibiscus is a genus of flowering plants in the mallow family, Malvaceae. The genus is quite large, comprising several hundred species that are native to warm temperate, subtropical and tropical regions throughout the world. Member species are renowned for their large, showy flowers and those species are commonly known simply as hibiscus, or less widely known as rose mallow. Other names include hardy hibiscus, rose of sharon, and tropical hibiscus. Several species are native to China. But due to hybridising activities of growers world wide there is now a magnificent range of available flower colours. It loves sun, warm climate and have a couple of flowering flushes, usually in spring and autumn. 21402
Paphiopedilum at the 2017 San Francisco Orchid Show, Hall of Flowers, Golden Gate Park. Although there were beautiful orchids at the show this year, overall it was a big disappointment. Loss of a sponsor and move to a new venue significantly limited the number of displays, and many growers from Asia and Hawaii did not participate.
Happy weekend! Thanks, as always, for stopping by and for your kind comments, awards and faves -- I appreciate them all.

Connecticut Southern CSO-5 builds it’s train in Hartford Yard with what is widely considered the best possible lashup to get on this railroad by buffs in the area. Former LMX B39-8E #8530 leading, and then after that P&W B23-7R “Super 7” #2215 trailing second, 2215 is the only Super 7 operational outside of Ohio as well (8/17/22).

This is a photo I took on a visit to the park Bluehendes Barock at Ludwigsburg. I went there to take some photos of the tulips before their season is over but then I discovered that the fountains in the palace gardens made quite interesting photo subjects too and I started to experiment with different shutter speeds. I like how dynamic this one turned out.
An other shot for the ISKON magazine and calendar. This time I've chosen a HDR due to the Dynamic Clouds in the blue sky. The picture was taken @ ISKON temple, Tirupati, India when I was working for their magazine and calendar.
