...and yes, I know there is a cylinder missing right in the middle of this picture. :)

Dwarved by giant trees, two dudes ham it up in the Muir Woods (National Monument). The coastal Redwoods (Sequoia sempervirens) are among the tallest trees on Earth, reaching heights over 300 ft (100 m). Their biology is intimately tied in with fog, which is responsible for much of their summer water supply during this naturally dry period. The trees have thick bark which enables them to survive periodic fires. The fires help germination of seedlings by providing them a nutrient rich mineral soil substrate. These trees are around 600 years old, but they can live over 2000 years.

You'll probably notice that I haven't been posting as many "personal" figures lately - which is both a good and a bad thing! As I am now selling through quite a few online resellers (including G.I.Brick, ToyWiz/Brick Arsenal, and Brick Warriors), I am spending a lot of my time working on "work" figures. However, I still get in the mood to make a special figure just for me, or in this case, four. I usually don't give a lot of back story on the inspiration for figures, but I am on these guys: I recently bought the Mines of Moria Lord of the Rings set, and I have to say that it is one of my all-time favorite sets (and surprisingly not just because of the minifigures)! I love the modularity, playability, and possibility for expansion it provides, and I have lately had quite a few scenes where my Castle explorers find a Dwarven crypt filled with treasures (and many dangers). This set made me decide to do a large-scale MOC which will be a Dwarven ruins which includes a grave room (it'll have built in wall graves for the more "common" dwarves, as well as the King of the Dwarves crypt (and his treasure room). As I've been doing this, I wanted to make Dwarves of various clans to use within the ruins (or are they ruins...). The clan members that I posted here are from the Därr'n Clan, which I wanted to be the religious/mystical clan of the dwarves - they practice their own form of magic, and are masters at imbibing their weapons with spells to strengthen, sharpen, and add other powers to them. They tend to use stones as their weapons, but wood for their shields, which are often reflective of the battles they have been in. I hope you enjoy these first 4 clan members!

Dane: *presses hand to her forehead* “She’s burning up. I knew she felt warm before…”
Caid: “She’s been tired and droopy most of the day, but I thought it was because she’s had so much goin’ on lately…*trails off, distracted by Molly* Molly says Chuck had a headache when she woke up this morning.”
Dillon: “She was knackered at book club, too. Was dozin’ on me shoulder by the end.”
Candy (impatiently): “Well, don’t just stand there clucking like hens! One of you burly boys pick her up! We need to get her into bed!”
Molly: *eyes wide, close to tears*
Caid: *signs/says* “She’s fine, sweetheart. She probably just has the flu or something, and all the extra stress of the bake sale has tuckered her out.” *enfolds her in his arms, propping his chin atop her head*
Molly: *sniffles into his chest*
Charley: *regains consciousness, stares up at all the faces peering down at her, groggily* “Huh, why am I on the floor and…*frowns, as she digs an apple out from underneath her* why are there apples everywhere? Are we playing Snow White? Are you guys my dwarves? Caid’s definitely Dopey.”
Caid: “Actually, I think I’m better suited for the role of ‘Happy.’ Now, Dillon could be in the running for Dopey.”
Dillon: *side-eyes Caid, ‘give-me-a-break’ expression*
Dane: “Apparently, you’re sick. Something you didn’t bother to mention. Now you’ve overextended yourself, swooned like Dillon the first time he saw the state of the flat’s bathroom—”
Dillon: *shivers at the memory* “There was used floss stuck to the mirror, and Jayzus only knows what growin’ in the tub.”
Dane: “—and given everyone a dreadful scare. Good job!”
Charley (weakly): “Thanks. Do I get a gold star? When my students do a good job, I give them a gold star…or sometimes a sticker of a bear giving a thumbs-up…which is weird because bears don’t have opposable thumbs. Monkeys do, though. They should’ve had one of those giving a thumbs-up. As an educator, I’m ashamed I’ve been giving out biologically inaccurate stickers all this time. Do you think that’s a fire-able offence? Also, being British, shouldn’t you have said ‘well done,’ not ‘good job’? How am I supposed to learn your language, if you keep speaking American?”
Danny (amused): “I believe she’s delirious.”
Dane: *scoops Charley into his arms*
Charley (faintly): “Where are we going?”
Dane: “To bed.”
Charley: *head lolls against his shoulder* “Uh…Horny Dove, I’m in no condition for the sex-sex-underpants dance right now.”
Candy: *delightedly mouths to Danny* “Horny Dove?”
Danny: *grins, mouths back* “Sex-sex-underpants dance?”
Candy: “I’ll ask her about it later.”
Danny: “Tell. Me. Everything.”
Dane: “Shut up, Chuck, or I’ll make you eat a cupcake.”
Charley: *suddenly snaps to attention* “Ugh! The bake sale! Can’t go to bed! Not finished! Put me down. *tries to wiggle out of Dane’s grasp*
Dane: *tosses her over his shoulder like a sack of potatoes, smacks her smartly on the ass, and keeps walking* “These guys can handle it. More importantly, Yuri can handle it. You’re going to bed…and Horny Dove’s going to make sure you stay there.”
Charley (grumpily): “Bronte was right. This is the bake sale from hell!”
Third, and final, bake sale episode next Tuesday…

Stone carvings of dwarves on the outside of the main image house at Kelaniya Temple, near Colombo, Sri Lanka.
Kelaniya Great High Temple is one of Sri Lanka's most revered sacred Buddhist sites as it is believed to mark the location of a sermon given by the Buddha during what is believed to be his third visit to the island of Lanka. Kelaniya is one of 16 Solosmasthana sites on the island that Sri Lankan Buddhists believed were visited by the Buddha during his 3 visits to the island. Most of the structures at the temple are built or cut from a beautiful gold-coloured stone, as can be seen here.

Not quite sure what these Wroclaw dwarves are actually doing...... Looking at this closely now a few inches in front of the middle figure there appears to be a small protrusion from the ground so I'm wondering if someones stolen a fourth figure.

From Wikipedia : "Wrocław’s dwarfs (Polish: krasnale, krasnoludki) are small figurines that first appeared in the streets of Wrocław, Poland, in 2005. Since then, their numbers have been continually growing, and today they are considered a tourist attraction: those who would like to combine sight-seeing in Wrocław with dwarf-tracking are offered special brochures with a map and mobile application software for smartphones. As of 2014, there are over 300 dwarfs spread all over the city. Six of them are located outside the city at the LG plant in Biskupice Podgórne."

Mining in Buğra Quarry has been busy since filling the collapsed tunnel. The dwarves are behind in filling quotas for the villages and settlements to the south, especially the wall at Batuhan. The pay is incomparable and has brought workers from across the continent.
My third entry into the Summer Joust 2020 contest as well as LOLUG's July contest. The theme for both was "tri-color".
The MOC came out a bit larger than I had anticipated. It has at between 8,000 and 10,000 pieces. I felt a bit like I was just spraying down parts at some points while trying to keep the rockwork varied and interesting.
I had been a quarry MOC for a few months as a source for all the stone used in an ongoing MOC. You can see a preview of it here and here; I am working on expanding it and will post pictures on my website when I get it done.
Welcome to Vaporium! A world unlike any you have ever seen. Flying dragons, mining Dwarves, if you can make it up, it’ll probably exist there.
Existing of several dozen small and big islands, it’s a place where all sorts of people live among each other. Several hundreds of years the Vaporians have been expanding their empire, from the northern Dwarven realms to the tropical islands full of pirates and cannibals. Every island is somehow connected, be it by bridge or boat.
Walk around in the magical world of Vaporium and discover its secrets. As far as she is willing to show them to you, that is…
“Where do the Vaporians get their power from?” Is a question you might have. Well, all the power in Vaporium comes from the mechanical island, which also provides Vaporium with her name: Vaporia Magistralis. Nobody knows exactly where it comes from and research shows it has been spinning for several thousands of years. Ever since one of Professor Schweitzer’s clones bumped his submarine against the surface about threehunderd years ago, many of his relatives and other people made their home. The clone built the high tower to research why the island turns around exactly. They have however yet to find out why this is the case and all attempts to figure this out have ended catastrophically. The expedition led by Stanley Steam for instance led to the disappearance of Stanley himself. Only his shoe was recovered when it was spat out atop the enormous tower.
The island itself is home to remarkable events. Some plants grow beautifully, while others wither away the moment they touch the soil. It is also reported that many crates, animals or people suddenly begin to levitate.
Up in the north there is a mysterious tower dubbed by the as Zâhnar Khûzuhk: the Tower of Darkness. It appears to consist of dark grey granite and was built long before even the Dwarves travelled to this region. De Dwarves, oldest people of Vaporium, do not share much information they have about this place and every explorer that sets foot on the island is never heard of again.
Probably as a response to Zâhnar Khûzuhk the three towers were built that shield the Tower of Darkness from the mainland. They are called the Three Mages, probably named after the three wizards or mages that built the towers. This is also the most northern place where one can moor ones ship.
The mine of Stormcap is many centuries old. Long before the Vaporians reached this place the Dwarves were already delving deep in to the earth for gold and precious gems. How old the mine is precisely we do not know, because the stubborn little creatures are a very secluded people and do not wish to share much about their past. We do know however that they love gold and like to sell their jewels to the Vaporians. Few jewels or golden decorations are made without gold mined by the Dwarves in Dazûhm Ghӕrl, as the Dwarves like to call their mine.
The current lord of the mine is Jarl Thorgrim One-Eye. Some known dwarves which you might recognize are bombardiers Dӕlen and Dӕren Blackbeard (although the father has traded his black hair and beard for a grey shine) and Jormund the Black Storm.
Also on Stormcap is the little village called Stormhaven. Originally built as a tiny fisherman’s village, overtime, it has become one of the most prosperous merchant villages of Vaporium, all thanks to the wealth of the Dwarves. Almost every day you can visit the market or enjoy the local music. One can find knives and swords of Dwarven craftsmanship and other niftily made artifacts in the little shops. The Mayor Harold Ondanin often looks over the square from his little balcony. The center of the square is dominated by the statue of the Mage who founded the village.
Oldrock Keep was originally built as a Dwarven keep, but after the colonization of the Dwarvenempire by the Vaporians, it was traded for the Mine that was much more profitable for the Dwarves. The current lord of the keep is lord Dunstan Rendanin. Considering it is located so far north, technology is not that advanced in this place, but it is certainly not a place of poverty. This is the last place where people can moor their ship before going more north. For that reason the Wolfshead Inn is a famous inn, where they pour delicious dark beer.
The gigantic castle of king Jeryn the Always Happy is of course a marvel of construction. The people of king Jeryn are stubborn and tend to hold to their old medieval society. They avoid every form of technology. You will not find any steam engines or blunderbusses here. This causes them to be mocked by other Vaporians, but they don’t seem to mind because they keep on laughing regardless.
In the courtyard one can see the throne hall and atop the balcony stand King and Queen together. Remarkable is the clock tower which had its fair share of use since gold loving Dragons hold a fancy to the castle.
Roaming between the many islands one can witness the most remarkable vehicle known to Vaporium. The enormous mechanical dragon built by doctor Frankenstone. This dragon, named Draconis Magnificus, was completely designed and built by the doctor. Here and there it lands to take in supplies to take with him on his journeys through the world of Vaporium.
The city of Eglaïm in the warm tropical south is gouverned by Grandvizier Karsin al-Rauth. The Grandvizier is a man who loves gold, but then again: who doesn’t? This means however that he allows a lot of thing that are not strictly legal. This makes Eglaïm, also known as the Drops of the Sea, a safehaven for all sorts of outlaws and pirates. As long as they fill the gold chests of the Grandvizier he doesn’t mind if they store or sell their stolen goods in the city. The big ships with darkred sails are feared throughout the seas of Vaporium, because more often than not sailors lose their cargo after being entered by the Bloodsails.
Near the city of Eglaïm is the mysterious Temple of Legoqatl. Once every seven years a delegation of the island travels to Eglaïm laden with golden gifts for the Grandvizier, to make sure they are left alone to their dark practices. The Grandvizier tries to make sure they are left alone, but alas there are stubborn sailors who do try to moor their ships to the island. The few who leave the island never say a word about what happens there, but that it’s not to be trusted is a fact.
The small Island of Rynce Stohn, greatgrandchild of Jaques Stohn, is always in some sort of commotion. Just like his grandfather Rynce likes to invent stuff and to think of new and innovating stuff. He is also an old apprentice of doctor Frankenstone. The most crazy things he imagines he can actually produce with his hands. His current project is highly classified, but judging by the framework it’s going to be enormous.
Dragons are an abundance in Vaporium. Many a tower or castlekeep has fallen because of an angry or furious Dragon. The ruins of these towers are many and scattered all over the place and often a refuge for outlaws or pirates.
Skullbreak Island is an ominous island, upon which an incredibly high tower is built. The skeletons of many who perished there still lay all about the island, and the only inhabitant is rarely seen.

Good day or night to everyone! Don’t know do you have right now day or night. But in Surgut (Russia) it is night :)
I proudly display this picture from the ‘Fairytale series’. This idea had been lingering in my mind for about two month and I desperately wanted to create the picture, but the weather was always against it. Last weekend I had an opportunity to do some pictures and I managed to find a girl who looks almost like ‘Snow White’.
But of course there was a problem. I need the Seven Dwarves but there was only 6 male models that day. So I ended up splitting one Dwarve into to xoxox
Hope you like it! Let me know what you think!

The red roof of the kofi (hut) pops out of the broad expanse of the cliffs here. The hut gives perspective of the size of the scene. The cliffs themselves are basalt with unique hexagonal formations (elsewhere, not seen in this shot. But it is the tradition belief (and, yes, still believed in by some -- this is Iceland, after all) that dwarves live in the cliffs.

Mîm was a dwarf in the First Age, primarily involved in the Tale of Túrin, son of Húrin. When Túrin was with the band of Outlaws, they captured Mîm and forced him to let them stay in his home on Amon Rûdh. There they discovered that Mîm's son Khîm had been killed by arrows which the outlaws had fired upon the dwarves at their first meeting.
Túrin pledged himself to Mîm but Mîm later betrayed Túrin and the Outlaws to Morgoth. He escaped from Morgoth's forces and laid claim to the treasure of Nargothrond after Glaurung had been killed by Túrin. Mîm was eventually killed by Hûrin but not before he placed a curse upon the treasure.
Hope you enjoy this fig! I don't know if I've ever seen Mîm in LEGO before so this might be the first one! Correct me if I'm wrong though.
Getting into Avalonia was not going to be easy, but dwarves are resourceful....and a brainstorm session can yield some great ideas!
Raven Darksight was contemplating how to lead a group of his Dwarven Army into Avalonia, but those elves seem to notice everything. There has to be a way in to get past those elves!
Ibun, son Mim spoke up, "I got it! We all know how Elves love the forest and the trees right?"
"Aye!"
"Well, all we need to do is have Rowyn and Bowyn dress up like a tree. They wander over near those Elves and start yelling 'Oi, Me leaves hurt, me branches hurt! Please help!' We know that those Elves won't be able to resist helping out a tree."
"Stupid Elves, they'll probably still be munching on their croissants and sniffing their flowers while rush over to help the tree too!"
"Yeah, stupid elves!"
They all laughed as they pictured those stupid elves sniffing flowers and helping out the tree in distress. If this doesn't work, nothing will!
