Oil and water on the shiny surface of a DVD. Bit of a scratched old DVD, this one, wasn't sure whether to include it here!
Tiny drop of water on a tilted DVD surface and LED coloured lights above. First experiment trying to photograph 'stretched' water!
I don’t normally watch TV series for they are usually consist of many seasons and time consuming but for X-Files I gladly spend time watching the show. I already had quite a few seasons plus some special editions I bought real cheaply earlier but as I watched them I felt need to get the whole set to understand the storyline better so I got this set from eBay in good price. Now I will watch from the very first episode again and I am sure I will enjoy them although it will take a long while for I am always very busy…
Si no me equivoco este es el sensor que recibe la luz reflejada por el dvd e interpreta la información leída.
Toda la imagen (horizontal) sería de algo menos de 1 cm.

Everyone knows that I love watching Disney movies. For years I have been trying to get rid of my old Disney VHS and replace them with DVDs. It has been a very slow process (and I pray that Blueray doesn't take it's place!). I added three more Disney titles to the collection this week: Tangled, Lilo and Stitch and Pinnochio
My DVD player wasn't working, the disc skipped and wouldn't play. I thought I would need a new one – and a new tv as well.
However, my daughter asked if I'd cleaned the disc, I hadn't, there was a blob of jam on it. A quick wipe with my hankie and the DVD played perfectly :)

Well, it seemed about time I updated the photo of my DVD collection as it has grown slightly. 201 items, counting box sets as one, 231 if we count the individual films.
I originally bought the Kartell Bookworm a few years ago at a design fair.
The first few years it was used (in spiral form) as a book-stand. I then migrated my VHS tapes to it, and since 2003 I changed the shape to a flowing "S" and use it as a DVD-holder.
Of course come 2008 it will probably be used to house Blue Ray DVDs and have a flowing shape :)
More info on the Bookworm can be found here www.retromodern.com/item_detail.asp?1480.
Came out a little blurry, but you'll get the idea. This is about 80-85% of all our dvds and blu rays. When I was building these shelves, I did not place them in a good way for any exspansion. That is why you see all the box sets laying on their sides on the top shelf. We have twice as many Vhs tapes. Missing from this pic is our entire kaiju movie collection and wrestling videos. Those are in my game room.
