During the Winter and early Spring, California can be green and lush. This is from February, before the grass dries and turns yellow.
During our monsoon season some beautiful pictures are possible of the Grand Canyon.

During another trip trying to capture wonderful Gannets which wasn't successful, I was yet again distracted, but this time with a busy Meadow Pipit.
There was plenty of food about. It was great watching them.
Looking forward to getting up to the Highlands, but the weather is now not great ....
Vanavond ben ik nog even naar een groot Tulpenveld bij Dirksland geweest aan de Lageweg, er zijn daar wat witte en roze/rode tulpen in bloei. Nog niet heel veel maar wel genoeg voor een foto.
Thanks for your visit, comments and/or faves.
during my Etosha visit i have been surprised from the large number of Black-shouldered kite (elanus caeruleus) ...for sure the Etosha open areas are perfect for them..but although they were common i had big problems to approach them..as soon as you stop the car they fly away and although many attempt i had just a few occasions to get a nice shot.so it has been....

Thank you to all who take the time to comment and/or fave my images, it is much appreciated.
During my 3 day stay at Elbe sandstone mountains, I was out every morning for sunrise, and the mood was different every day. This one is my favourite of the series, the classical view of Bastei stone bridge at sunrise.
During sunset, a cloud flew in in an amazing shape (a bird, a dragon, and maybe an angel ...)
A little understanding of the physics of cloud formation underscores the complexity of the atmosphere and sheds light on why predicting weather for more than a few days is such a challenge.
Six types of clouds you can see and how they can help you understand the weather.
1) Cumulus clouds - On a sunny day, rays warm the earth, which heats the air located directly above it. The heated air rises upward due to convection and forms cumulus clouds. These “good weather” clouds are like cotton wool. If you look at the sky filled with cumulus clouds, you can see that they have a flat bottom, located at the same level for all clouds. At this altitude, air rising from ground level cools down to the dew point. It usually doesn't rain from cumulus clouds, which means the weather will be good.
2) Cumulonimbus clouds.
Small cumulus clouds do not rain, but if they grow and grow in height, it is a sign that heavy rain is coming soon. This often happens in summer when morning cumulus clouds turn into cumulonimbus during the day. Cumulonimbus clouds often have a flat top. Air convection occurs inside such a cloud, and it gradually cools until it reaches the temperature of the surrounding atmosphere. At this moment, it loses its buoyancy and can no longer rise higher. Instead, it spreads out to the sides, forming the characteristic anvil shape.
3) Cirrus clouds form in very high layers of the atmosphere. They are smoky because they are composed entirely of ice crystals falling in the atmosphere. When cirrus clouds are carried by winds moving at different speeds, they take on a characteristic curved shape. And only at very high altitudes or at high latitudes, cirrus clouds give out rain that reaches the ground.
4) Stratus Clouds - A low-lying, continuous cloud sheet that covers the sky. Stratus clouds are formed by slowly rising air or gentle winds that cover the cold land or sea surface with moist air. Stratus clouds are thin, therefore, despite the gloomy picture, it is unlikely to rain from them, a little drizzle at most. Stratus clouds are identical to fog, so if you've ever walked in a mountainous area on a foggy day, you've been inside a cloud.
5) Lenticular clouds. Smooth and lenticular lenticular clouds form when air is blown up and over a mountain range, and as it travels over a mountain, the air descends to its previous level. At this time, it heats up and the cloud evaporates. But it can slip further, as a result of which the air rises again and forms another lenticular cloud. This can result in a chain of clouds extending far beyond the mountain range. The interaction of wind with mountains and other surface features is one of the many details that must be taken into account in computer simulations to obtain accurate weather predictions.
6) Kelvin - Helmholtz like a breaking ocean wave. When air masses at different heights move horizontally at different speeds, their state becomes unstable. The boundary between the air masses begins to ripple and form large waves, such clouds are quite rare.
The photo was taken in the city of Konakovo. Russia. On the banks of the Volga River.
During the last week of high winds and rain I gave myself a challenge to get out and shoot something where conditions aren't ideal!
I ended up at Bodiam Castle in East Sussex, wind swept, poor light and wet, all i can say is my aim was moody!!!
Bodiam Castle is a 14th-century moated castle near Robertsbridge in East Sussex, England. It was built in 1385 by Sir Edward Dalyngrigge, a former knight of Edward III, with the permission of Richard II, ostensibly to defend the area against French invasion during the Hundred Years' War.
A pier as a pier of a harbor can run a few tens of meters to several kilometers into the sea. They extend from land into the sea and are built to allow ships to enter and exit the harbor safely and quietly. They are often on two sides of the harbor mouth.

During the winter the temperature in Bariloche is around 3 degrees Celsius, reaching 8 degrees in the hottest times of the day and -4 degrees at dawn, reaching a thermal sensation of up to -16 degrees C in more extreme situations.
In July of that year, a terrible cold front coming from Antarctica lowered the temperature to -25 degrees for a few days.
Luckily I was not there yet :)))
The light during our birthday stroll yesterday was absolutely amazing and everything looked pretty like these little "fluff things" whose name I have forgotten again. :) P.D.: It is some kind of clematis. Thanks to Steven Hromnak for clarifying)
Podere Baccoleno during the sunset, now one of the most photographed places in Tuscany.
We stayed down there for 8 days and every night above the cypress avenue / driveway between 20 and 50 photographers gathered to capture the evening spectacle in the picture. And of course I was there on some evenings;-))
Today I show my 1000th image in Flickr, time to say thank you for your loyalty, the many comments, favorites and image reviews. I am very pleased.

The photo was taken during Sergey's performance at the D'Addario Guitar Festival - NAMM Musikmesse Russia, in Moscow.
Sergey Tabachnikov (born April 17, 1987, Samara, USSR) - guitarist, musician, leader of the Nobody.one group. Without any musical education, he became one of the most popular guitarists in the country.
Tabachnikov plays compositions that are completely different in style. But critics and viewers alike agree that his work is nevertheless closer to instrumental and blues rock. He began playing the guitar at the age of 11. Sergei is self-taught, he does not advise others to use the services of teachers, believing that if you wish, you can learn to play on your own.
Sergey Tabachnikov, in addition to his musical career, maintains his blog on YouTube, in which he uploads reviews of guitars and accessories to them. The videos are very popular among both novice musicians and professionals due to their interesting presentation style and specific humor.
Sergey takes the performances of his group more than seriously. The funny guy from the video about guitars disappears somewhere and a professional musician appears on the stage who completely surrenders to playing the guitar.
The Nobody.one group is actively touring Russia and the CIS countries, participating in many festivals, including the invasion. However, speaking of popularity, unfortunately, the group is known only to a narrow circle of viewers, but we hope this situation will change soon, and the general public will learn about the talented guys and their leader!
Discovering this little canyon during my last trip to Iceland I was surprised and amazed by this mysterious atmosphere that emerges here. It is located at the end of a small stony track, off the beaten paths where thousands of tourists go every day.

During my 2nd trip to Sun Moon Lake , we stay a night at the Sun Moon Lake Hotel so that I will be able see the mist over the Lake in the early morning in July - Summertime. Amazing experience to be there and walking along the lake without tourists, would recommence to all my friends if you are there.
During this capture some other photographers turned on some lights as fate would have it ... assuming two did to as there were different tones of light as can be seen on the tufa. The results were interesting.
New England settlers didn't have enough money to paint their farms. So they needed a cheap way to protect the barns' wood. They mixed skimmed milk, lime, and red iron oxide to make a red, plastic-like coating. ... Red became the most famous among farmers because it was the cheapest
