How awesome was it that this bird decided to fly away right as I was taking the photo? Maybe it heard my DSLR clicking away.

It's peak poppy and peony blossom time here right now (late May). Here is the result of me peering into a poppy through my *DSLR.

* Re EVF & DSLR cameras:

I appreciate the advantages that EVFs can offer in certain situations, and I own and use some EVF cameras. However, I prefer using a DSLR. I think it is because it seems more visceral and direct. It only puts some glass between me and my subject.

Location: Edge of a raised private garden next to a public sidewalk.

In my album: Dan's Flower Power.

I came upon a Rafter of turkeys last weekend. Wild one are spooky. They can't smell you like deer can but they have great ears and fantastic vision. If you sit still, they probably won't see you but they have amazing abilities to see any type of movement.

I used to hunt them with a shotgun and bow, now I use a camera.

If one gets spooked, they all get spooked and that is what happened when the turkeys heard my DSLR clicking away. One flew and then they were all gone. They don't fly well or very far but they are big and strong enough to break branches and fly right through small limbs and brush.

Thanks in advance for those who take their time to view my photos, fav them or leave comments. I do enjoy reading the comments.

He stopped for a second, glared at me as he heard my DSLR clicking and away he went. But it was a nice mement in time. He obviously didn't like the sound of my camera

Thanks in advance for all who take their time to view my work. I really do enjoy reading your comments.

techy info/ update

The Sony A1E has a time lapse function hidden in the menu and the stills are captured to a memory card.

Whilst you haven't as much control as you would have with a timer on a DSLR, the A1E is silent. The last thing you want is a DSLR clicking away all night in the next room.

The time lapse was shot in a vry large cupboard and lite by an interfit light that lo energy bulbs .

the Pan/zoom is post-processed in after effects . i think the stills started life as 1440 by 1080 [HDV] and the video 720p

This is part of my pre-DSLR clicks. This was in 2003. I used a Canon Sure Shot Zoom-S. It's not digital so I had to scan the pics and process it with Adobe.

Mel's been over the past couple of days so I thought it was appropriate to take a portrait and upload it!

I took this on my new camera, and was surprised with the quality of the photo for a compact, almost on par with my dslr.
