Got close and personal to a very vintage movie projector. It was the first time I've ever seen one of these devices and I loved the look of it! It would be cool to have one of these on display and even luckier if I used it for its purpose. It's a purchase I'll definitely revisit in the future.

Have a great day! :)

I went window shopping today! I bought three windows :-)

======================

Located in the southern part of the Caussa Mejan plateau (Causse Mejean in French), the cave or chasm known as Aven Armand is one of the most spectacular you can imagine.

Unlike most, it does not have a maze of chambers, but a single, huge chamber. But what makes it really amazing are its limestone formations, almost exclusively stalagmites (those that come out of the ground). I don’t know what makes them that way, but they’re not smooth, but spectacularly “flowery,” like palm tree trunks and trees. They thus form a dream forest in the dark.

If you add to this the contrast of the outside world, which in the Causse Mejean is almost flat and austere steppe ...

When I say I have lots of marble photo's I mean lots as in hundreds. Trouble is my decision making is poor aligned to the fact it is not something everyone enjoys. Never mind...its like music soothes the savage breast sort of thing... if you know what I mean ?

The Iris Griffith Wetlands Park nature walk, is an interesting place at any time of the year. Although it is currently winter, this place continues to show much of what nature has to offer. Whether winged or 4 legged, there is much to enjoy if you just take the time to quietly listen. And, it is remarkable just how challenging that can be.

The Eisenbahnmuseum Bochum-Dahlhausen is a railway museum situated south of the city of Bochum in the state of North Rhine-Westphalia, Germany. It was founded by DGEG, the German Railway History Company in 1977 and is based in a locomotive depot that was built between 1916 and 1918 and ceased operation in 1969. Then DGEG took over the whole area of 46.000 m2 and built up the biggest railway museum in Germany. In the middle of the museum, there is an engine shed with fourteen tracks. A preserved turntable, coaling, watering, and sanding facilities are still in operation. This museum is integrated into The Industrial Heritage Trail (Route der Industriekultur) a route of monuments from the history of the industry.

And now begins the DSLR era of my Diesel Days project. In July 2008, I bought my first DSLR camera, a used Canon Rebel XTi, with a Sigma 18-200 lens. It was another month before I was able to get used to using it, too late for Diesel Days that year. So 2009 marked the first Diesel Days event for that camera. And it really changed the game. Between the camera and zoom lens, not only was I able to take wider angle shots with that Sigma lens, but more importantly, I was able to get the zoom that I had previously only dreamed of due to the limitations of my previous point & shoot cameras.

2009 also marked the 2nd year in the special collaboration between IRM and Union Pacific, which saw at least one of UP's Heritage Units on display during Diesel Weekend. This year, UP really stepped up the game, with not only UP 1995, the Chicago & Northwestern Heritage Unit, but both of the famed "CNW Twins" on display as well, CNW 8646 and CNW 8701, the final two unpatched CNW units.

Most of the photos featured in this series were made into a two-part video. The first video features images of Diesel Days from 2004 to 2014. It was presented at a small gathering of railfans known as Clarkefest 2023, an annual event that honors the legacy of renowned railroad photographer Clarke Renard. That video can be seen here:
