Macro Monday: Superstition
The legend of the Dreamcatcher
The Native Americans of the Great Plains believe the air is filled with both good and bad dreams. Historically, dreamcatchers were hung in the tipi or lodge or on a baby's cradle board.
According to legend, good dreams pass through the center hole to the sleeping person. The bad dreams are trapped in the web, where they perish in the light of dawn.

This was taken after a nonstop 10 hour drive from Austin to New Mexico. This was our first stop of our epic roadtrip from Austin to San Francisco, and we had to throw the costume together from bits and pieces that we had with us. The top is actually a skirt, and the skirt is multiple skirts piled together. Even just getting a few shots was quite the challenge, the light was the most blaring unforgiving light I've ever experienced. It was mid day and the harsh sun was reflecting off of the white sand, so getting the camera settings correct was quite the challenge! We're both from the coast, so as soon as our skin was exposed to the desert air we shriveled up and had wrinkles that rivaled old ladies. I felt like that part in Beetlejuice when the ghosts shrivel up!
We had a picnic, did a quick photoshoot, and then lounged in the cold sand and talk about life. We were blessed by the most magnificent views this day as we drove through the New Mexico mountains.
