Dragon, the symbol of Ljubljana, on Dragon Bridge

Dragon tree encourages us to see past our fear and into the future when the conflict no longer exists. By connecting with this vision of peace we are able to bring that vision into our hearts in the present moment. Seek out peaceful resolutions that harm no one.

Culture varies from one country to another. In India, dragons are interpreted as evil or bad luck whereas its considered auspicious in China. Chinese consider themselves as "Lung Tik Chuan Ren" that means “Descendents of the Dragon”.

There are also nine ways the Chinese have traditionally represented these dragons, each one revealing a different dragon characteristic. There are dragons carved on the tops of bells and gongs, because of the beast's habit of calling loudly when attacked.

A second type is carved on the screws of fiddles, since most dragons are fond of music.

A third is carved on the tops of stone tablets, because of dragons' love of literature.

A fourth is found at the bottom of stone monuments, as dragons can support heavy weights.

A fifth is placed on the eaves of temples, as dragons are ever alert to danger.

A sixth occurs on the beams of bridges, since dragons are fond of water.

A seventh is carved on Buddha's throne, as dragons like to rest.

An eighth is placed on the hilts of swords, since dragons are known to be capable of slaughter.

The ninth is carved on prison gates, as these are dragons that are fond of quarreling and trouble making.

The secret of hidden Dragon Hall in Norwich was revealed during work in the late 1970s

What had appeared to be a three properties was in reality a single medieval hall

The timber-framed Great Hall with its outstanding Crown Post Roof and intricately carved and painted dragon is a monument to medieval craftmanship. Built for the sale and display of cloth, a staple of the Norwich economy from the 15th century until the early 19th century, the hall is a legacy of the early days of the Norwich Cloth Manufacture.

As the only medieval merchant's trading hall known to have survived in Europe, Dragon Hall is unique.

Although a handful of guildhalls remain, most were built for a group of merchants, whereas Dragon Hall was built for one The decorative scheme was even more elaborate in his time than it is today: the beams and timbers were stained with red ochre and each spandrel contained an intricate carving, which like the single remaining carving, was probably a dragon.

Dragon Fly in Kruger Park. LC

JANUARY 2009

Before we built our house thirty years ago, we had to cut down trees and clear the land. We piled trees and limbs, leaves and brush together so it could break down into soil for later use. The pile has broken down, but occasionally I'll throw a log or tree branch knocked down in a storm on to the end of the pile. The other day as I was clearing the watermelon and zucchini patches I looked up to see this "garden dragon" looking at me from the pile. Can you see him, too?

Dragon boat race in Frankfurt

I think these are Emerald Dragon flies

Designed and folded by myself from one uncut square of paper. i changed the legs, the wings and i added flamme !!!

I usually prefer my subjects alive and kicking but I couldn't pass up the opportunity to do a close up stack of this expired dragonfly I found in a spiders web in our gazebo eves.

I must say I was struck with how vicious its needle like hairs around it's mouth look, also imagining how terrifying the species in the Late Carboniferous period looked when they grew to over two feet from wing tip to wing tip...😬
