The three photos today are all using two new filters: a graduated ND and a circular polarizer. I think the combination is really helping to pull out more detail and color from the reflections.

DMK23U274 via 2x on Coronado PST. 9 panels, 20% of 1000 frames stacked, calibrated with "flat-cap" flat. Deconvolved, stitched in MS ICE and wavelet sharpened. High-pass filtered, contrast adjusted and colorised.
Note: CLAHE algorithm were tested but found to produce nasty edge effects.
Note 2: I have made a "bag-flat-cap", which is a great little thing to create flat-field images with PST. The technique is the same as used for making whitelight film filter from doublesided sticky-tape and cardboard :)
DoubleSide Shooting.
I designed the whole shooting on Chiara, this incredible girl. At the first sight she seems so sweet, timid and "tender".. but if you look at her with more attention, you can see how much powerful, energetic and kind rebel she is :)
I thank her so much to have posed to me, and also my makeup artist Gioia Baldo, and my stylist Jessica Steiner.

At the moment we are in the middle of decorating and all my junk (including, as some have said, all my camera gear lol) is packed away in boxes. However I have kept some stuff out in case it is needed, I am not sure why I have included a sensor cleaning swab as I am not brave enough to mess with my camera sensor at all!
The drawer is 11 x 6 x 5 inches and the image of the entire drawer is used for 124 pictures in 2024 group theme # 46 Higgledy-piggledy. The area of the shot for MM is approx 2.75 inches square.

This lovely model consists of three parts:
the flower: folded from double-colored sided paper 15x15cm
the capsule: folded from the same doubleside paper 10x10cm, so you have the same color ;-))
the stem: folded from kraft paper 20x20cm
Which gives the complete flower about 18 cm height.

TED: "Marmite's brill, Donald! Speshully on 'ot buttered toast! I no yew don't 'ave it in 'Merica but yer missin' a treat!
This pussle's shaped like a Marmite jar - see, I got the real fing out of the cubberd to compare it. It's a dubble-sided pussel too, so that's twice the fun.
I'd luv to keep the ginormus plastic jar wot it comes in, but Mum sed no, we got enuff clutter, so we'll be donatin' it to charrity as ushual."
DONALD: "Er, I took a quick sniff of that Marmite, Ted, and I don't think I'll be trying it anytime soon! As you say, you either love it or hate it, and I'm in the latter camp!
But the puzzle was fun to make, even if we had to flip it part-way thru to make sure of getting all the plain black and white pieces in the right places!"
I am sure this fancified modular origami cube model goes by other names but the book I found the model in called it a Brocade Kusudama. I really like it for a couple of different reasons, the main one being how it looks so very different depending on the angle you’re viewing it from. Another aspect of the piece that amuses and impresses me is the fact that it is, at heart, a cube. It doesn’t look like a cube at all to me so I was surprised when I found out that that was how it is made but that is indeed what it is: a cube with some flaps on the sides pinched together.

TED: "S'no good tryin' to 'ide, Donald, they can see yew peepin' out frum be'ind this skreen!
It's sumfink diffrunt - a plastic pussel wot stands up to make a pritty foldin' skreen that's dubble-sided.
The peeces is a verry tite fit, so we 'ad to stamp on 'em a bit to make 'em go in... but yew better not try it cuz yew cud brake the peeces! Me'n'Donald can do it cuz we no's wot we're doin'.
I fink Mum'll be keepin' this one but I dunno why, she's got enuff junk lyin' arownd...!"

I just ordered 50 cards with this shot for an event in September where these bowls will be given to dignitaries from the State of Tennessee. The tree that provided the wood for these once stood on the grounds of the Tennessee State Executive Residence - (aka The Governor's Mansion). I placed the order with MOO from the Flickr home page - i will let you know how it turns out and when they arrive!

This is a double-sided cabinet card portrait constructed by attaching two cabinets back to back with glue. In my experience, these are fairly uncommon but not rare. The photographer, Hearn, was a known author of several books on photography including Hearn's studies in artistic printing : a complete manual of photographic printing, 1877, and The practical Printer: A Complete Manual of Photographic Printing, 1878. This photo was made in 1894 as indicated on the card. Found in Wisconsin.

What's better than one picture? Two pictures! Since it's coming up to Easter I thought it about time we treated you to another double sided creation.
Side one features a privacy inspired CCTV wallpaper design. In today's always-connected society the feeling that you're being watched is very real indeed. Because you probably are. If the proliferation of CCTV covering the length and breadth of our fair isle isn't enough we have our online movements tracked by just about everyone with most of the information apparently available to the highest bidder. What strange times we live in. To commemorate this I decided to create this lovely bespoke wallpaper design as a reminder.
Side two features a somewhat androgynous looking lady with Lord Byron's poem 'She walks in beauty' as the background text. Apparently Lord Byron went to a ball and met his cousin by marriage, Mrs Anne Beatrice Wilmot, who was in mourning and wearing a black dress set with spangles and next morning he'd come up with what is widely regarded as his most famous work. Inspiration can strike at strange times it would seem. Once you've combined that with our jazzy striped background then you've got another certified id-iom piece.
Painted on a 60cm x 40cm wooden panel with id-iom's patented 'hang either way' industrial look picture hanging system. She's sure to brighten up just about anywhere she's hung. Drop us a line if interested.
Cheers

* Pincushion, sewn out of two vintage fabrics. One 100% linen, the other a cotton mix. It can be used on either side.
The design is not my own and these type of pincushions can be found all over the internet. They are so cute that I couldn't resist making some too.
An isometric view showing the inside of the band and part of the side of the ring. The hole in the base of the band is the tube where the faceted citrine is set. The hinge pin goes through a tube on either side of the ring and the flared end has been filed with a pattern that mimics the coral stars. Beneath the pin are two 14k gold granules.
The overall height of this ring is just over 1 inch.
Does there appear to be something "unnatural" with this shot.?
Can't quite put your finger on it ? . . . .
OK, well it's the left half of Amy's face, In fact you are looking only at the left side. I have cut the photograph down the centre, flipped, reproduced and merged the two left sides together. Hope that makes sense !
These cut baseplates came together with some weird prototypes out of a box with Lego that used to belong to an ex Lego employee.
The prototypes:
I have not figured out what the round labels were meant for yet.
Some of the plates are also a bit foggy/milky.
The plates that may be used to solve the mystery:
Forgot to add that nearly all the baseplates have doublesided tape underneath or remains of it. So these were attached to a table or plate when they were marking/testing them.

i made this out of an old folder, some scrap paper, doublesided tape, markers, etc.
oh and staples. it was more fun and less frustrating than expected.
60-degree unit
rectangles (3:5), 10 units for each, no glue
UPD Oh no, wait... it should be (1:sqrt3) rectangles! Silly me!)))
UPD2 The closest unit I've found so far is this one by MyPhuong Tran. But now I have an impression that there should be more 60-degree units from this rectangle by others. Too simple to be new:)
This is an item I had on my wish list long time ago - since I've discovered Joe's amazing website icollectpuzzles.com.
A doublesided jigsaw with 54 7mm-solid-wood-pieces showing the maps of the world an the United States.
This teaching puzzle was made by D. & M.C. Wiggins from New Haven, N.Y. which probably was manufactured for the Silent Teacher series.
At the upper and lower part of this map you can find the history of the genesis and exploration of the world.
Some lower texture was cut for the jigsaw - so I will try to find the original print.
Unfortunately there is no box but the jigsaw is in great condition. I guess it's from the 1880s.
