Over 30,000 people gathered in St. Paul and marched to the Minnesota capitol to protest Republican President Donald Trump. This protest was in solidarity with the national Women's March on Washington DC. The protesters spoke out against Trump's proposed policies and decried the rhetoric of the 2016 election for being insulting and threatening to women.

Trump paid Daniels to hide his alleged affair with her from the public before the 2016 presidential election.
Americans have lost confidence in their government. We no longer trust our legislators and the Supreme Court to solve our country’s problems: income inequality, affordable health care, a woman's right to decide what’s best for her health, the economy, and climate change. Governance has become a series of battles. It’s no longer just political ideology. We are at war over cultural issues while our politicians ignore our basic needs.
The morals of our GOP legislators and their sycophants are just as important as their economic policy. How can we trust a party that Alex Patton, a Florida-based Republican consultant and pollster, has characterized as a party that “has become mean and driven by emotion on whom we dislike.”? “But,” he says, “that is the driving force in American politics right now.” That is the driving force of the GOP, not the Democrats. This is not an example of the equality of "bothsidesism."
In my essay, “It’s Time to Release Our Own Kraken!” I outlined the history of the Republican Party’s “below the belt” tactics. They continue to be underhanded to this day. But with the low level of civility in our present polarized country, many Republican legislators now in office have hit new ethical lows.
As a visual artist who has spent over a decade creating posters about the sorry state of American political discourse, this year I began a new series of portraits, “Faces of the Republican Party.” The men and women in this series deserve to be taken to task for their unwillingness to compromise, belief in conspiracy theories, and disdain for the LGBTQ+ community, women’s rights, and our children’s education. The purpose of our government is to solve our nation’s problems. It’s not a place for personal vendettas or manufactured cultural issues.
“Faces of the Republican Party” is not a partisan series of portraits. Merriam-Webster defines the word as “a firm adherent to a party, faction, cause, or person, especially one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance.” The people depicted in these images are the partisans. Instead, my series is a documentary and op-ed showcasing the facts in 2022. All of these people had a hand in trying to overthrow the government. These images are MAGA Republicans who put their blind allegiance to Donald Trump and their careers ahead of the needs of the American people.
The results of the 2022 midterm elections showed we are tired of autocratic and self-absorbed politicians. We would simply like our officials to do the jobs we elected them to do. Everyone deserves a piece of American Exceptionalism. As it stands, there is nothing exceptional about the tribalism these people promote.
Republicans are perfect examples of Patton’s “driving force.” This force is dirty, mean, misogynistic, selfish, and wastes our tax dollars. These people are just a small sampling of individuals responsible for the loss of credibility and faith in America’s institutions. And worse, they couldn’t care less.

Over 1,500 people gathered at Columbus Circle in Central Park NYC, to protest Republican Candidate Donald Trump and his rhetoric to build a wall between the United States and Mexico to stop illegal immigrants from entering.
Donald Trump's just been impeached and he is not happy. And, when he's not happy, you know it! Take his impeachment night rally in Michigan. He suggested beloved Michigan Representative John Dingell, the longest serving member of Congress in the history of this country, and who died in February, went to hell. Yes, that unhappy.
One can only hope that South Carolina Senator Lindsey Graham will eventually come to his senses in his undying support of the President. But, will Trump give him his soul back? Um, no.

On December 18, 2019, Donald Trump became the third president of the United States to be impeached. The process was marked by extreme partisanship and, as expected, the President's reaction quick and angry.
In a rally he held in Michigan that night, he seemed even more unhinged than normal. This culminated in a mean take-down of former Michigan Representative John Dingell, the longest member to serve in Congress in the history of our country (59 years), by suggesting he was looking up at us from hell. Even the highly partisan crowd of Trump supporters voiced their disapproval.
Dingell's widow, Debbie, who now occupies her husband's seat and voted for impeachment, was visibly upset by Trump's reckless comments. In a tweet she stated:
"Mr. President, let’s set politics aside. My husband earned all his accolades after a lifetime of service. I’m preparing for the first holiday season without the man I love. You brought me down in a way you can never imagine and your hurtful words just made my healing much harder."
Condemnation of Trump's words from both sides of the aisle, were swift.
On January 1, 2018, I made the poster below. I wasn't convinced Trump should be impeached, but there was a zeitgeist floating around that his demeanor could become a national security risk.
Trump's phone call to Ukraine's President Zelensky on July 25, 2019 changed that, culminating in his impeachment . So, I have updated the poster.

Absolute Power, Dodgy Money, Fake News and a Storm in a D cup.
The shifting sands of politics are fast becoming expanding patches of quick sand.
I was offered this today by a friend to pay me the £100 he owes me.
He told me with a huge grin on his face that one day, this note might be worth something and a lot more than the £100 he owes me.
I told him I couldn't wait that long.
I have not shown the reverse side of this note as it is not very complimentary to the President of the most powerful nation on the planet.
As the afternoon progressed this chap would walk towards the front of the West Stand at Headingley and much to the glee of the crowd down a pint. He would leave it twenty minutes and then repeat the process.
Meanwhile on the pitch England bowled Pakistan out for 174 and ended the first day on 104-2.

President Trump was here to visit the Newport News shipyard to tour the USS Gerald R Ford aircraft carrier and to speak to over 4,000 Navy sailors and workers there about his plan to lift sequestration and increase the military budget.
As I watched Joe Biden’s and Kamala Harris’ memorial service at the Lincoln Memorial for the over 400,000 Americans who have died of COVID-19, I was overwhelmed. I hadn’t felt this sense of humanity in four years, and I didn’t know how to process it. My body had forgotten what it felt like. It suddenly occurred to me, Donald Trump’s depravity and lack of empathy had held me hostage during his presidency. And, like those held against their own will by terrorists or bank robbers, now that it’s over, it will take time to adjust—to get back to any semblance of well-being and trust. That feeling of “fight or flight” and the level of cortisol in my body will not go away immediately. It is going to take me time to heal.
But the new year has brought little relief so far. There are people who don’t think I—we were ever held hostage. Georgia’s Republican Congresswoman and QAnon conspiracy adherent Marjorie Greene has already filed articles of impeachment against President Biden for misusing his power as Vice President when his son, Hunter Biden, served on a Ukrainian energy company’s board. She’s the representative who wears facemasks that say “Trump Won” and “Stop the Steal.” And, even though former President Trump has left Washington, she continues to peddle his lies. Millions of Americans still believe he won the election. Despite the facts, MAGA is still alive.
Before his term ended, the House voted to impeach Trump for the second time for inciting the insurrection at the Capitol that killed five people, including a Capitol Police officer. Every Democrat representative plus a record ten Republicans voted to impeach him. But, suddenly, the GOP is talking “unity” as a way to ignore his actions. They have appropriated the word President Biden has used as a building block for his new administration and reframed its meaning. Biden is searching for enough common ground to pass legislation that will end the pandemic, ease people’s economic struggles, deal with climate change, and repair America’s international policies. Republicans are using the word to sidestep the transgressions of last four years and their role in perpetuating them. Texas Senator Ted Cruz said an impeachment trial after Trump has left office is “vindictive” and “punitive.” “We’re in the middle of twin crises,” he stated, “a global pandemic and an economic crisis with millions of people out of work. But, instead of focusing on those jobs, the Congressional Democrats seem obsessed with their hatred for Donald Trump.” Cruz speaks as if he’s always believed in the primacy of Americans’ welfare.
Both Cruz and Missouri Senator Josh Hawley voted to reject the lawful Electoral College tallies hours after the insurrection. Many of Cruz’s former aides were “disgusted” by his actions. Amanda Carpenter, who worked for the Senator, said, “she could have never envisioned that the political career of a legal scholar with a reverence for the Constitution would ‘culminate in a stand to potentially cancel votes in a way that defied any standards of federalism and constitutionalism.’”
Senator Hawley gave a fist pump in support to rioters as he walked the grounds of the Capitol that day. After his actions, his hometown newspaper called him on his behavior. The Kansas City Star stated in an editorial, “No one other than President Donald Trump himself is more responsible for Wednesday’s coup attempt at the U.S. Capitol than one Joshua David Hawley, the 41-year-old junior senator from Missouri, who put out a fundraising appeal while the siege was underway.” Hawley’s mentor, former Republican Senator John Danforth, said, “I thought he was special. And I did my best to encourage people to support him both for attorney general and later the U.S. Senate and it was the biggest mistake I’ve ever made in my life.” By ignoring his actions, Republicans become complicit in them.
Both Cruz and Hawley want to run for president in 2024. And both are drooling over at the 70+ million voters who cast their ballots for Trump last November. By supporting Trump’s “stolen election” lie and by supporting his call to storm the Capitol, they have put their interests ahead of the country’s. Worse, they have supported an insurrection against the Constitution they have sworn to uphold. This is sedition, not unity.
Trump has needed enablers like Cruz and Hawley. They and other GOP leaders are the choirboys and choirgirls spreading his gospel of nativism, White supremacy, and economic good fortune for the rich. They perpetuate his lies and alternate truths. Or worse, they look the other way. In doing so, they are just as responsible for over 400,000 Americans lost to COVID and the millions who have lost their jobs and their businesses. And now, with both the executive and legislative branches in the Democrats’ hands, all of a sudden, they’re talking unity? It’s an empty attempt to avoid their responsibilities to the American people.
Every false prophet has their supplicants to sing their praises. This isn’t about the crucifixion of Donald Trump. This is about his deification. He’s no god and doesn’t deserve the perks. He denounced the science of the pandemic, and Americans have died because of it. His lies incited others to storm the Capitol. And people died because of it. So before we can contemplate unity, those who supported these mistruths must take responsibility and be held accountable for their actions.
Ephesians 4:25 says, “Therefore each of you must put off falsehood and speak truthfully to your neighbor, for we are all members of one body.” Privately, many Republican legislators abhor Trump’s presidency and what he stood for. If the Senate vote to convict him was private, they would find Trump guilty. But since the vote is public, no Republican has the fortitude to speak up. Some, like Cruz and Hawley, are in it for themselves. Others, like Greene, are conspiracy addicts. And some fear for their safety and the safety of their families. Continuing this charade will hurt all conservatives and destroy the Constitutional thread that binds us as a people.
For more than a decade, honest and fruitful debate in Congress has been impossible. If we really want unity, then stop the destructive partisan rhetoric and let’s begin this administration as members of one American body. I’m pissed the new year still feels like 2020. Donald Trump may no longer be president, but he still has his hands on the bully pulpit. I’m tired of being held hostage by him and the likes of Cruz, Hawley, and Greene (and let’s not forget Mitch McConnell). It’s all about power and control. And none of it is about the welfare of Americans. Trumpism has become a systemic problem. Lies built upon lies left uncontested by the party of Lincoln. Like unity, ending MAGA distrust and conspiracy theories will be a long process. Republicans, you have the power to do it. You just don’t have the courage.

I don't know about you and you can hate him or like him but he is a presidential candidate. Posting his wife's naked pictures in a national tabloid and calling him stupid or like in this case a wanker, on a poster is a free speech but ... there is something very wrong with it.
One of the hallmarks of Donald Trump's impeachment inquiry has been the Republican's partisan approach to discovery, that is, to the facts of the case against the President. To many, these facts are clear. Donald Trump used his position to strong-arm Ukraine into investigating his political rival, Joe Biden. In addition, he obstructed the House of Representatives' investigation by not allowing key witnesses to testify, such as Mick Mulvaney, Acting White House Chief of Staff, Don McGahn, former White House Counsel, and John Bolton, former National Security Advisor.
The Republicans stated this was a politically-motivated vendetta against the President, perpetuated by Democrats, who, they said, wanted to impeach Trump from Day 1. Democrats saw it differently, not as a political move, but as a legal one: the President had committed "high crimes and misdemeanors" in carrying out the duties of his office. During the House's inquiry many public servants corroborated these details. But, rather than offer counter evidence, the GOP simply focused on the procedures of the investigation. Why? Perhaps it was because they didn't have any evidence to the contrary. We can speculate, but this seems to be the most obvious answer. If members of Trump's staff had any details that offered alternate explanations, why weren't they allowed to testify?
It seems likely, the House will vote to impeach the President. But, it also seems likely the Senate will not vote to remove him from office. Again, the vote will fall directly on partisan lines. Republicans, who are the majority in the Senate, reject the veracity of this impeachment. And, they reject even considering the evidence. Yet, Senators are jurors in this impeachment trial. And, like jurors in criminal or civil trials, they take an oath to "do impartial justice according to the Constitution and laws."
However, Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) has already stated, "I’m not trying to pretend to be a fair juror." So much for impartiality. Senate Majority Leader, Mitch McConnell, has publicly stated he is working directly with the White House in orchestrating the probable Senate trial. In addition, he has rejected efforts by Democrats to bring in members of the White House administration as witnesses. Donald Trump has stated the process is unfair because he can't defend himself. Yet, he refuses to allow his staff to testify. So Trumpian.
This partisan divide is very different than the bipartisan approach taken during Bill Clinton's impeachment. Then, Senate leaders Trent Lott (R-MS) and Tom Daschle (D-SD) "made a concerted effort to protect the integrity of the Senate and negotiated a bipartisan proposal that had the unanimous backing of the chamber on some parameters of Clinton’s trial." Many questions remain. Why didn't the GOP produce evidence that would exonerate President Trump? Why are they doing everything they can to suppress anyone's testimony from the White House? What are they hiding and what are they afraid of? And, most importantly, why are they ignoring the mandates of our Constitution, which they swore to uphold?
Americans deserve to know the truth. And, rather than let all the evidential pieces fall where they may (whether Trump is innocent or guilty), we are being denied the opportunity to see this come to a factual conclusion. The Republicans have made this Constitutional procedure into a farce.
All the king's horses and all the king's men refuse to put American back together again.
