The Doge's Palace is a palace built in Venetian Gothic style, and one of the main landmarks of the city of Venice in northern Italy. The palace was the residence of the Doge of Venice, the supreme authority of the former Republic of Venice, opening as a museum in 1923. Today, it is one of the 11 museums run by the Fondazione Musei Civici di Venezia.*

Its a real shock when you first witness this , a giant cruise liner making its way down the Canale della Giudecca separating the main island with Giudecca bringing in a new influx of tourists to the city . This fragile old city having to accommodate all these giant vessels in its near vicinity , the scale between the two looks terrifying , the impact of the modern world with its mass tourism seems daunting .
The Doges Palace is on the left with the columns with the Lion of St. Mark the symbol of the city and St. Theodore the first patron saint of the city .
This is early in the morning , the start of yet another day before the masses arrive , the only people about are the street cleaners who sweep the this public square daily and the odd photographer trying to get some early morning captures .

Between the eleventh and thirteenth centuries, Venice transformed itself from a struggling merchant commune to a powerful maritime empire that would shape events in the Mediterranean for the next four hundred years. Madden traces the city-state's extraordinary rise through the life of Enrico Dandolo (c. 1107--1205), who ruled Venice as doge from 1192 until his death. Construit entre le XIIème et le XVème siècle, le château de Sagonne dresse sa puissante silhouette au milieu d'un village médiéval plein de charme et de pittoresque.
Le site de Sagonne est d'origine gallo-romaine. La fondation du château se perd dans la nuit des temps. Ce très vieux château est entouré de murs et de douves, à l'arrière il y a un parc avec un étang.
Also called the Palazzo Ducale, the Doge's Palace sits right on the Piazza San Marco and is, in fact, an exhaustive collection of smaller museums, a courtyard, and a trove of over-the-top ornamentation, including frescoed walls, gilded ceilings, and intricately carved statues and friezes. Part palace and part fortress, the Doge's Palace held both the home of the Doge and, for a while, the city's prison. Visitors to the Doge's Palace can see the Doge's opulent apartments, where there are paintings by the likes of Veronese, Titian, and Tintoretto, and the prisons, some of which are accessed via one of Venice's most famous bridges: The Bridge of Sighs.

These towers are very high, it is easy to compare the size with the person who walks on the way down to the right of the image.

Ces tours sont très hautes, il est facile de les comparer à la taille humaine avec la personne qui se promène sur le chemin en bas à droite de l'image.
L'existence du château de Mehun-sur-Yèvre remonte sans doute au IXe siècle, c'est vraiment très ancien. C'est en ces murs que mourut le roi Charles VII, le 22 juillet 1461. L'environnement est superbe vu du haut de la tour gauche qui se visite.
