I loved the carving on the little votive I did yesterday, but I wanted the colors to be more cohesive. This polymer clay lantern uses a translucent gradient under a striped surface. In the second pic you can see what it looks like when filled with LED lights. You always want to know scale, so I included a bar of clay on the third pic. You can see this is quite large, at 7 1/2" high and almost 4" in diameter.

Back on day 4, I made a faux terrazzo soap dish for our favorite green soap. Sadly, the dye they use in the soap has stained the white Premo soap dish. (In all fairness, it stained our sink, too.) Anyway, I wanted to redo the dish in a design that wouldn't be so ugly when the staining happened. So here's take two on the soap dish idea. I also drilled small holes (that I might enlarge) to allow drainage and made slices in the foot for the water to run out. Function is as important as form!
