I created several versions of this one; I got the design from a teeny-tiny picture on the box a votive candle came in. I think this was a scan - sorry about the poor pitcure quality - and I also think I sold this one a long time ago. It's about 1.5" square.

This shows how my DIY softbox is attached to a light stand and a flash. Not quite sure if this still qualifies as DIY though - I certainly couldn't have done it alone.

The idea for using a foodcover as a basis for a softbox came from emarc, thanks for that!! >Collapsible softbox build instructions<

www.recyclart.org/2014/04/diy-vertical-garden/

In apartments or homes where there is not much room, vertical or suspended gardens are a great alternative because they only need a wall space, often idle, and depending on the choice of plant they does not require so much care. You can create your vertical garden by reusing materials that would otherwise be discarded, such as plastic packaging, wooden brackets, and all that creativity allows.

Some details are very important:

The vertical garden should not be on the sun all day long,

The containers chosen to house the plants should contain holes for water drainage, or if you prefer, a layer of rocks at the bottom,

The land must be of good quality,

Always water the night or very early, before the hottest hours,

Do not let water accumulate (for mosquito concerns)!

After seen so many DIY interesting projects at Strobist, I have decided to contribute with my two cents. Here's my "Snoot Bazooka". I got two pieces of "vent pipes" at Home Depot 3.50 each). They fit together perfectly, if you want, you could chain them to make is longer. Two work just fine for me. They are versatile because you can use it straight (like a canon) or change the angle of the pipe (like a letter C). I'm planing to add a tip with straws to get a different effect (my local Shop Rite was running out of it!) If you have any suggestions to improve it, don't keep it to yourself. I still need to solve hoy I'm going to attach it to a light stand. I'll post more pics once I've archive it.

Roll over the images for more details.

Cheers!

I love map tacks. How about you?

Unfortunately I couldn't find that many lovely colors in the market. Most of the ones I found were primary colors. Then one night I dreamt of a whole lot of map tacks in adorable pastel colors. Haha! That sounds silly but when I woke up I was still thinking about that dream...and then I decided to color my own map tacks using nail polish! Blogged here

It can be a grid or a snoot. But for once Canon users have the upper hand. Turns out a standard 2.25 x 3.25 PVC connector fits on a Canon 580 EXII strobe with some slight modifications. White corrugated plastic provides a snoot effect, black provides a grid like effect. Having made one out of cardboard, the plastic one is much more durable, can easily be painted and is UV resistant. Good stuff!
