I find it difficult to tell male and female Mourning Doves apart. According to information I found online, the males are a bit larger; and "the males' breast regions exhibit some pink coloration, and the highest parts of their heads are also somewhat blue." None of my shots of this bird provide clear evidence of its gender. But my guess is that it is a female. Feel free to let me know if you disagree.

Thanks to all who visit, fave, comment, and extend invitations. Your support is much appreciated. I will be sure to visit your work, too.
A delight to see and and the scent was wonderful ! Photographed in a front garden as I gave Marnie a late afternoon walk around the block. So good to meet neighbours I didn't know existed, simply walking round the block 😃.
I think this is Philadelphus Lemoinei (you may disagree) !

Bucephalus and Alexander were inseparable; only Alexander could ride him, and indeed he did, into every battle from the conquest of the Greek city-states and Thebes through the Battle of Gaugamela and into India.
Although historians disagree on the cause of the horse's death - some claim he died from battle wounds - most agree he died of old age after the Battle of Hydaspes River (326 BCE… battle illustrated above).
Alexander founded a city in his beloved horse's memory and named it Bucephala. It is also interesting that Alexander built another city after his favorite dog Peritas.

Their might be a few others too, but none as important! To be able to roam the hills and mountains with the dog and hunting friends, to get all those amazing views, the exitment, to be sweat and tired, sometimes cold, to sometimes bring home a deer. That is such a great activity.
This is from a hunt in mid October, it was still an amazingly beautiful fall. There are photos from a couple of other hunts at different dates too in the first comment.
And in the fourth picture is it possible to see parts of a fallen deer, just in case some don't want to do so. It is the whole purpose of the hunt to bring home game, so to me is it the most natural thing to capture. But I have understood some disagree in that matter.
I am so grateful to live in a part of the world that has four seasons. Everyone I know has a favourite time of year and I imagine it has a lot to do with the kinds of activities a person is interested in or perhaps their imprinted memories of happy times.
In the Winter it's not unusual for people to experience Seasonal Disorder. In fact, I can think of one transplanted Englishwoman who definitely feels the length of the long, cold winter months in the Maritimes. (Not naming names A.W.!) :-D
We can probably agree to disagree about that one since I tend to be very happy in the Winter. I'm even happier in Spring and I'm almost giddy in Autumn. However, if I'm ever likely to experience a disordered and discombobulated time it's during Summer. Believe it or not I check the calendar and count the days until Fall.
It's easy to understand why Spring is exciting though. There's new life popping up everywhere, the air is soft and the light is at its prettiest. Winter is a cosy time and particularly so if one has warm boots and an efficient furnace. Then there is the Autumn when the air is crisp and the changing colours make the world look different and exciting every morning.
Yes, I'm grateful for four seasons .....but I could manage with three.

In her work, Laura Belém recontextualizes objects from daily life, completely changing their meaning, renovating their situation and, moreover, the viewer’s perception of them. Thus, in a work like Enamorados [In Love], presented at the 51st Bienal de Veneza, two small boats seem to chatting with each other. The resource used is a simple one: Belém installed the boats front to front, and placed a spotlight on each of their bows. These lights turn on and off, sometimes coinciding, sometimes disagreeing with each other, thereby establishing the sensation of dialogue and, consequently, resulting in the personification of the boats.

Hello my amazing Flickr friends !
Today is a pink or purple day at Color my World Daily and the theme at Smile on Saturday is : show a single flower. And since it has been a very long time since we had an egg picture, how about showing a single flower by Mr. Egg… Of course, I can hear you loud and clear: eggs dont have hands so they can’t show you anything… I have to disagree. Just recently, Mr. Egg underwent a very, very complicated operation, never attempted in medical history before : a Mr. Potatohead hands transplant. It was a success my friends ! So today, Mr. Egg can show you a single flower and lets hope that all those single flowers pictures will put a smile on your face for the rest of the day. And just imagine all the possibilities, now that Mr. Egg has 2 hands ! And they are magnificent (and rather huge !!) !
Mucho, mucho amor for you all !! Have a beautiful day my friends!! See you later!!
Thank you so much for all your lovely comments / favs/ general support / happy thoughts!! Stay safe and well!! And see you soon on Flickr !
52 weeks of dogs ... ... week 18 ... OMG - OMD ...
... Drift is really looking cool here, although the working title was "I want Sunshine" ... it is raining for days now here in Holland ... so not good weather to go out for a photoshoot ... I found these térrible (if I may say so) sunglasses in the attic today, they must be a leftover from Carnival ... I have no recollection whatsoever on how I obtained these ;) ... but I immediately saw an indoor photo opportunity. Drift disagreed ofcourse ;) so I had to trick him with Elmo, his favorite toy at the moment (and still alive) ...
Place of action: the kitchen, Elmo lies on the trash can, Drift is fixating Elmo as if Elmo could run away ány moment (fixating or focussing is the only way Drift will lie still) ... and I'm on my side with the camera ;) ... I am probably nuts ...

Even though it was a cloudy gray day, we found this bridge to be quite impressive! I thought it was worth the stop for a quick photo, but some may disagree, right Wanda? ;-)
Isla Corazón is part of Lake Mascardi, where I saw Cerro Tronador, which is the highest peak in the Park: 3,491 meters above sea level and has seven glaciers. However, I was there to find out how and why an island in the middle of that arm is called Heart.
This small piece of land in the middle of crystal clear and turquoise water is wrapped in a legend that involves two feuding indigenous communities and two young men, sons of caciques, in love: one of each. They fall in love and decide to escape, understanding that this decision would not be well received: a kind of Romeo and Juliet of our lands, one could say, with a different but equally tragic ending.
Once they flee, their communities begin their search and subsequent capture: they wanted to be free and enjoy their mutual love; when they realized there was no escape, they began to swim across Lake Mascardi, trying to reach the other shore. The arrows began to sink into the water but nevertheless they reached them and the young men, embraced, died in the lake. In this way, the legend tells, the heart-shaped island, Piuké Huapi, arose.
But, despite this version, there are those who disagree with it, with more or less arguments. There are those who cannot find a “coherent” answer to the name because the shape cannot be seen: it should be noted that the island can be seen from different points, one of them is from the route that leads to Cerro Tronador; another, which already implies more physical effort, is from the Isla Corazón viewpoint, which can be reached after a walk of -minimum- three hours one way and another three hours back.
Another renames the island Chalía, in homage to a girl named Rosalía who was born there many years ago. Clarisa Montenegro, huerquen of the Lof Wiritray, clarifies it. National Parks gives it that name, although she clarifies that it "also has to do with love" because it is through a beautiful memory and declaration of love, such as births.
“We are very respectful of the history that our ancestors who lived in this place told us,” adds Clarisa. Julio Gallardo, Clarisa and Ester Treuque, Lucia and Ester Rauque, Victoriano, Juan Inalef and Cipriano Inalef were the relatives of that woman who was born on the island.”
The love, the disagreements, the name: everything reveals to tourists and neighbors the magic and the profound history of the place for the enjoyment of the family, with friends or as a couple, and in any season of the year: a lake that at times it is turquoise, for others with green tones and others bluish. A mental photograph in each step that is taken. Isla Corazón is there, waiting for us to honor those who were born there or to understand that love does not understand enmities between families or tribes, it is simply love.

[May 2008] Taking pictures, like singing and music, has become something therapeutic for me. Whenever I'm feeling sad or lonely or unproductive or uninspired...like I'm just spinning my wheels or turning in circles and getting nowhere...I can grab my camera and go out into the world and it always, always makes me feel better.
Not only does taking pictures thrust me out into the world even when I feel like withdrawing from it, but it makes me see the world again, or anew, and I inevitably end up interacting with it in a way I might not have before. And I see things I might not have seen --not really-- before. There are a lot of people who assert that putting a camera between yourself and the world creates some kind of 'barrier,' or that it disengages you from the 'here and now' because your experience is being mediated by a camera... But I tend to disagree. Rather strongly, in fact.
Take this photo for instance. I drove by an old barracks building out in the Marin Headlands yesterday afternoon, because I didn't know what else to do with myself, so I drove out to the Marin Headlands. Yeah, sure, there were a million things I could have and should have been doing with my precious weekend time, but I didn't want --or couldn't bring myself-- to do any of them. So instead of just turning circles in my apartment, I packed up my camera and got in my car and drove out to a place I hadn't visited in a number of years. As I was driving by this old barracks building, I (barely) noticed a lamp in a window, and the late afternoon light was hitting it in a certain way. I made a mental note of it and kept driving, but then I thought to myself, "No. You should stop. You should stop and get out of the car and try to photograph that lamp and that light -- because it caught your eye."
So I parked the car and walked back down the road and stood on the ground looking up at the window. I took a shot of the lamp --a simple clamp lamp-- but it didn't really come out. I could tell, though, from the way the light was hitting that lamp, that there must have been some wonderful late afternoon light pouring into the space... So I climbed up on the splintery old wooden platform [what are those things called? those old wooden platforms, like sidewalks, that you see in frontier towns and western movies?] to get a better glimpse.
And this is what I saw...this is what I found.
Now if I weren't a photographer, and if I didn't have a camera with me, I never would have seen this incredible little scene, this living still life. Because while the room was completely still and empty, it also felt like it was full of a presence -- either a memory of, or an anticipation of presence...
It's like therapy, for me, these moments...these little discoveries.
Which, I guess, makes this the therapist's chair.

"Changes"
Some days I move like water
Some days I burn like fire
Some days I wanna push further
Some days I wanna do nothin'
Drumknott
And I just wanna be the best of me
Even though sometimes we might disagree
So that I can be the best for you
That's all I wanna do
I'm goin' through changes
I'm goin' through changes
Though I'm goin' through changes
Don't mean that I'll change
Sometimes I'll go to sleep early
Sometimes I can't close my eyes
Sometimes I smile like it's all good
Even though there's pain underneath it
I just wanna be the best of me
Even though sometimes I forget to breathe
So that I can be the best for you
That's all I wanna do
I be goin' through changes
I'm goin' through changes
Though I'm goin' through changes
Don't mean that I'll change
Yeah, I'm goin' through changes
I'm goin' through changes (Ooh, yes I am)
Though I'm goin' through changes (That's right)
Don't mean that I'll change, woah
La-da-da-da-dum, la-da-da-da-dum
La-da-da-da-dum, la-da-da-da-dum, no
La-da-da-da-dum, la-da-da-da-dum
I'm going through changes
No, I ain't changed, yeah
Uh, people change, circumstances change
But God always remains the same

Avec notre passé pour guide
On se devrait d'être lucide
Mais notre méfiance est à bout
L'amour est bien plus fort que nous
When we are close, the world is singing
And when we touch, the night is ringing
And there's no way to disagree
For love is stronger far than we
When hearts are meant for caring
And lives are meant for sharing
Then we are joined by destiny
And love is stronger far than we
So, we may say another season
May say goodbye and find the reason
But love decides how things must be
And love is stronger far than we
When hearts are meant for caring
And lives are meant for sharing
Then we are joined by destiny
And love is stronger far than we
So, we may say another season
May say goodbye and find a reason
But love decides how things must be
And love is stronger far than we

Another one from the Park at Gleisdreieck, this lavender was growing in abundance everywhere, especially near the entrance. When I reviewed this, it was like trying to recall a dream, how one would see it in their minds, at least for me anyway. They say you cannot dream in colour, I disagree, unless the memories colour the dream for you.
When taking shots, do not forget the WB settings, you can really enhance a photo hue & tone wise with the right WB, which in this shot was "Fluorescent" for other shots I used "Shade" such as here...

Orb web spider (Argiope sp.) seen in Kanha Tiger Preserve India - love the details on the body, almost looks like someone painted it and the symmetry of the web is fabulous! My son couldn't disagree more!
Or maybe its School-Bus Yellow. Lets agree to disagree on that one because I definitely see yellow! Everyone else....orange. :-) Whatever it is, I do like it and its bright boldness on a gloomy day.

Jane got out this afternoon and hid from me under my shed for a while. I was able to attract her attention with her favorite toy and then bring her back inside.
She proceeded to run around the house like a possessed cat before she hopped up on the coffee table which she knows is off-limits. She is seen here disagreeing with my instructions to leave the coffee table.
She just had "bad on the brain" today and was acting out like crazy.

went to an hour long photowalk. even though there were some hundreds people around me, among those, i personally know at least 20-30, yet a loneliness grasped me. i took very few shots. i didn't really wanted to post any thing today. however, when i was looking at it in my machine, i could relate the loneliness with this pic. the disturbing element at the front gives the first blow. it is not a soothing picture, just like the way i am feeling now. i know most of you will disagree. the bangla title means "loneliness in the forest of kash flower"

Well, I ain't about to go to school
And I'm sick and tired of Golden Rules
They say I'm crazy from the wrong side of the tracks
I never see them but they're always so far back
Oh, yeah, baby, how to say?
Well, lemme tell ya about this one time
How ya gonna tell me now?
Lemme put it to music, yeah, I say
Well, I'm sick and tired of cleaning room
And it's the final bell for pushing broom
Damned if I do and then I'm damned if I don't
Won't someone tell me what it is they all want?
Ooh, it makes me blue
Fools, I live with fools
Ooh, it makes me blue
Fools, I live with fools
I just can't take it
My teachers all gave up on me
No matter what they say, I disagree

Don't want no class reunion

Peter and Oleg are sitting at the window looking out.
They are counting passing cars
Oleg counts red cars and Peter the blue cars
OLEG:
I've already seen 11 red cars driving by
How many blue cars have you counted already Peter?
PETER:
Uh...I don't remember.
I'm looking at you and me.
OLEG:
Why? We see each other every day!
PETER:
Yes..but not like that.
Take a good look in the window Oleg.
OLEG;
Wait a minute...that's our reflection!
PETER:
Your reflection looks much prettier than the real Oleg.
OLEG: (little angry).
I absolutely disagree with you!
Maybe you should take a closer look and put on your glasses.
The investment in my mobile intruder alarm system paid off bigtime. Translation: the dogs were barking up a storm which prompted me to investigate the cause of this. My decision to not store my photo equipment in assorted lens and camera storing compartments but to leave it easily accessible on the coffee table proved to be right on point as well. Once I discovered the reason for the alert (this was not easily accomplished since I scanned the yard at a much lower level than where the saw-whet owl was actually located – top of the swinging bench), I just needed to extricate my camera from other urgently needed items (clutter) on my coffee table. The owl was completely oblivious to mine and the dogs’ presence, being utterly preoccupied in deciding on the best angle of attack for a delicious mouse dinner. The owl and I have a bit of a symbiotic relationship. She keeps the mouse population under control on the outside of the house (my cat does the inside) and I get to use her as a bit of a decorative item for various yard structures, in this case the hanging swing bench. This image was taken about 15 minutes before it got too dark to shoot at reasonable ISOs.
Even though the mouse population may disagree with this, I find lots of things that are sweet about her.
I want somebody to share
Share the rest of my life
Share my innermost thoughts
Know my intimate details
Someone who'll stand by my side
And give me support
And in return
She'll get my support
She will listen to me
When I want to speak
About the world we live in
And life in general
Though my views may be wrong
They may even be perverted
She will hear me out
And won't easily be converted
To my way of thinking
In fact she'll often disagree
But at the end of it all
She will understand me
I want somebody who cares
For me passionately
With every thought and with every breath
Someone who'll help me see things
In a different light
All the things I detest
I will almost like
I don't want to be tied
To anyone's strings
I'm carefully trying to steer clear
Of those things
But when I'm asleep
I want somebody
Who will put their arms around me
And kiss me tenderly
Though things like this
Make me sick
In a case like this
I'll get away with it

She brings out the worst you can be
That's a good day for a bad habit
Don't you dare to disagree
She passed the things seems something groovy
Straight down from church you wanna bet
She'll play him like some kinda movie
And smokes the last of his sigarettes
She's got no mercy for the soldiers
No mercy for the king
No mercy for the soldiers
No mercy for the king
No mercy for the soldiers
And no mercy for no king
No mercy for no king...

After a Summer of painting exclusively, a return to digital image making. This was a half-finished piece that was begun in July and completed Oct 17, 21.
Exploring an old theme of the false images we create for ourselves in consumer culture. The fanned fire of gossip, judgement and 'cancellation' of those that disagree with our own mightily-held opinions ... all incendiary acts that don't really help us move forward skillfully. Mannequins as representing the false humanities we create to hide behind and judge from. Decoys to distract us off from our real, mutual humanity.
With thanks to Miranda Gorbenko for providing the impetus.

I know some people like to take life easy
That's not my style
I'm not the type to let this life tease me
I'm gonna make it wild
I just wanna ride
Get on my bike and ride
Some people think you've got to like your life one way
I disagree
I'm not gonna pay attention to them anyway
It's got nothing, nothing to do with me
Life is so short, we've got
No time to waste at all
I just wanna ride
Get on my bike and ride
I just wanna ride
Get on my bike and ride
I see the road, as it opens up before me
I feel the heat
I'm gonna go where I want, when I want to
Just got to be free
[Song: "Ride" By Joe Satriani, from the 1989 Album "Flying In A Blue Dream"]

EXTREMELY VOCAL, and can be a proficient mimic of both animate and inanimate sounds. Love the way a starling walks with characteristic swagger, and the flight is rather undulating and the wings look pointed and triangular in outline. /// SOMETHING out of the norm. for me, but felt it had something of appeal going for it, so have risked posting it, hope you enjoy it.

"OUR EARS ARE CLOSED"
Sea and mountains, valleys and streams
Night and day were all in Gods dreams,
The Garden of Eden with its precious tree
The Son He gave to set us free.
The seed He placed in the heart He made
Don't let its flowers wither and fade,
Is the ear closed to His constant plea
For in truth we live to disagree.
Have we not learned a thing from the past?
Why is the blindness we have so vast ?
We've ignored His word since time began
To do as we will has been our plan.
Has the Saviour's death not opened our eyes
When His blood was shed for our demise,
Mocked and beaten, betrayed from within
God's Holy Lamb pierced for our sin.
When the reaper comes and we walk to the gate
Do we all stand in line, to wait and wait,
Or will the one who gives life lead you through
And walk with you to paradise and life anew ?

God know answers for the love you questions
The only thing that I know is that I do not know
I don't know me anymore.
No solutions for a love your problems
the only thing I can't be something I don't wanna be
I'm not what I used to be
why I get mad, I don't know anymore
I cross my cell phone and I'm sharing the door.
I'm not the nice guy you fell hell of here's in love before
something's wrong with me and you don't seem to disagree
when I say "go away" it's not really what I want it, want it to say
Everything I said it's descant lost things in my head
I love you but it's true
I don't know but thing that I do
Maybe I'm crazy in love
God know problems, there are your solutions
the only thing I can be what you don't want me to be
I'm not what I used to be
Why you get mad I know baby I see
you cross cell phone and the problem is me
I'm not the nice guy you fell hell of here's in love and sorry
something's wrong with me and you don't seem to disagree
when I say, go away it's not really what I want it, want it to say
Everything I said it's descant lost things in my head
I love you, but it's true
I don't know but thing that I do
maybe I'm crazy in love
something's wrong with me,
but don't you know I'm tried to be beautiful, wonderful
though I maybe crazy baby know that I'm crazy for you.
Sweet dreams are made of this
Who am I to disagree
I travel the world and the seven seas
Everybody's looking for something...
He was standing in Peak and I could not help but to look. HIs display name says Imperfect Human but I disagree. As for his avatar, I think he is perfect. Maybe it was his entire style, maybe not, but the eyes drew me in and I wanted to capture what I could because he is beautiful.
I seek the water
I seek the trees
I seek the heavens
I'm brought down to my knees
Yeah, I know anger
I know peace
Yeah, I know darkness
Mm, and it knows me
And it knows me
And it knows me
I've felt the fire
I've held the sword
I've fought desire
Mm, but I lost that war
Crying out in shame
Oh, for goodness sake
I tried to disagree
Oh, but it knows me

"... Mister Navarro,
Forgive my intrusion
I needed to see you
And see you today!
Mister Navarro! Mister Navarro!
I have arrived at a stunning conclusion
And I feared I would lose my resolve
If I did not come here directly to say:
I've decided to marry you!
I've decided--though Henry's gone--
That life goes on for me!
I have thoroughly thought it through
And the man that I want is you!
Though, it's true, there are quite a few
Who'd strongly disagree
Nonetheless! I will marry you
I confess that I'm frightened to...
Yet, unless I am wrong, you long for love
As much as I!
This is quite unconventional, I admit
But why should that matter a whit?
And, if you do not say yes at once,
I think I'll die! "
