The stone main building at Mountain Lake lodge was built in 1930. This historic resort is situated on a 2,600-acre nature preserve in the Appalachian Mountains with elevations from 2,200 to 4,365 feet. It is 7.4 miles from downtown Pembroke in Giles County, (southwestern) Virginia. Dirty Dancing was a 1987 romantic drama film starring Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey. Much of the movie was filmed at the Mountain Lake Lodge. Print Size 13x19 inches.
Driving home this evening I noticed these sculptures adorning the Beach Ballrooms traffic roundabout, I parked quickly and captured the scene with a number of shots .
Aberdeen Beach Ballroom is hosting Aberdeen Artfair this weekend 2nd - 3rd September 2017 , sculptures crafted by Jungle Angelo an artist who has his own Facebook page , twitter account etc.
I love the sculptures, hence I took a bunch of photos rather than one or two.
I hope they stay in Aberdeen after the art fair is closed though guess they will move on .

JUNGLE ANGELO
My artist name is Jungle.
My work is graffiti no graffiti, I am an urban inventor.
My future journey with art will continue to produce new boundaries and find original ideas to manipulate what I imagine, but also find new ways to execute exciting results.
Jungle experiments in all mediums and at the moment is experimenting with concrete, encasing items that fit his style and bring some of his past pictures to life in sculpture.
Jungle's roots are in music and spray Art. He is a well known drum + bass / electronic music producer and was signed to L-double's Flex Records in Leeds and Skam Records in Manchester.
He was the 1st UK producer to release a Jungle sample cd for production pioneers TIME + SPACE (ZERO-G) helping to grow the drum + bass scene for producers worldwide. Jungle has also released many collectable white labels off his own back.
Jungle started his artistic life making a name selling paintings and art on the internet. Auctioning 4 galleries, of 100 paintings each, helped distributing his work throughout the UK.
His fascination with getting his Art to people include his innovative idea of leaving pieces of a large artwork in jigsaw format across the whole of the UK, connecting random finders with a piece of his work, and when placed together make 1 huge painting.
He currently has 250 paintings in 3 London hospitals which were donated by Saatchi Gallery and has produced work for -

Imperial War Museum Edinburgh Castle / The Ice Hotel / Doddington Hall

We've been having some absolutely divine sunsets this week. I think it's because of the snow...
The title comes from the song that's stuck in my head! Here in the UK, news presenter Chris Hollins and his professional partner Ola Jordan danced their way to winning the 2009 series of Strictly Come Dancing with that song, and also because I watched Dirty Dancing for the first time last night!

I know this might be stretching it for elements, but sunburts always remind me of fire.
I have an undying love for this little summer dress. I never get to wear it anywhere - simply because I don't go places that require pretty summer dresses. It totally reminds me of the dress Baby wore to dance at the Sheldrake when she fills in for Penny.
It also reminds me of Fruit Stripe gum which was the ONLY gum for the cool kids when I was in elementary school. Either one makes me happy.
Today's Random Fact: so yesterday for 80's songs I Was going to do Ring My Bell (Anita Ward) but wikipedia was very informative and it turns out that it was released in 1979. I tried to come up with a plausible reason for why I went ahead and did it anyway, but aside from "I rounded up", there didn't seem to be a good one. And that is how we came to have really sad and semi-angry songs about doves crying instead.
Looks like R2 and Chessman are having "the time of their life" !

If you Google images of Mountain Lake, you'll see photos of Patrick Swayze and Jennifer Grey dancing in and around a huge lake in Virginia. Other images you see are of the lake and its water coming right up to the dock near the resort.
In 1999(according to internets) the lake started to drain. There have even been times when the lake went completely empty!
Now, when you go out to the boat dock of Mountain Lake, like I did this morning, you can stand where the water used to be, with nothing but tiny streams running by your feet.

I am so sad to hear of the death of Patrick Swayze, it truly breaks my heart.
Any woman who says she wasn't in love with him, is probably lying, and if you think you weren't in love with him, you are probably lying to yourself.

I went and got groceries today, and in the grocery-getting process, I did indeed carry a watermelon. This made me think of the movie Dirty Dancing because, well, obviously. So when I got home, I had to photographically recreate my watermelon-carrying, because, you know, when you can do something in reference to the movie Dirty Dancing, then you should do something in reference to Dirty Dancing.
I'm pretty sure that's the law.
Unfortunately, none of my activities today (at least not so far) has made me think of "Nobody puts Baby in the corner." And that is a damn shame.

This is a digital painting based on several references.
Patrick Swayze was an American actor, dancer and singer-songwriter. He was best-known for his roles as romantic leading men in the films Dirty Dancing and Ghost and as Orry Main in the North and South television miniseries.
Swayze was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in early 2008. He continued acting until, in 2009, he became too ill to do so. Later the same year he died from the disease.

A reveller at the Notting Hill Carnival in London tries to entice a police officer to dance with him in a rather suggestive fashion. Despite plenty of encouragement from bystanders, she remained professional throughout.
This statue is located on a pier downtown. I don't know what it represents, but the woman being lifted up into the air reminds me of "Dirty Dancing ":)
