So I've become one of "those" people strolling through the airport with a smoothie in one hand and a crackberry in the other. I also came to the realization that every other time I've flown through DFW, I've never gotten off the plane. Did you know they have a L'Occitane? It's strategically located near the bathroom, you you can sneak some hand cream from their testers.
This was taken back in April by a fellow forum member from the Texas Photo Forum who I've gotten keyed in on Founders' Plaza (thanks Mark!). He stopped by on his lunch hour from work to check the place out for the first time and was suitably impressed with place.
In addition to my aviation art I also indulge in aviation photography. I haven't posted much recent stuff here on my blog since March or so and have TONS of pics and will try to post selected ones here for everyone to enjoy.
It was actually a pretty busy day back then as far as visitors go to Founders' Plaza. At one point there were five different folks in addition to myself with DSLRs shooting pictures of the arrivals.
In the background you can see how close we are to the UPS ramp. Pity I won't get to see any more DC-8s arriving and departing from that ramp. Pisser!
Cadillac Ranch. The cows were a bonus!!
I have to say that as cool as this is (people are allowed to come in and add their spray paint creativity to the cars), it was disturbing that some people find it easier to leave their spray paint cans all over the ground than to take them to the trash can outside the fence.
This would look very different now from this February 1982 view as they've added quite a few runways by now. We were in a Beech A36 Bonanza and little guys don't mix well with heavy traffic and the tower was a bit impatient with us.

Delivered new to United Parcel Service on October 30, 2000.
Where2 took me to the DFW airport from a very weird route. I almost thought it made a mistake until I saw the plane.
I saw this guy at the corner and immediately knew I was pulling over. I parked my motorcycle and crossed three lanes of traffic to speak with him. I started our conversation by presenting him a $10 bill but told him that I wanted some of his time in return. He seemed to be in a great mood (he was drinking a tallboy) and seemed to put on a show for my picture taking. He explained how he had all levels of experience and authority in the construction trades, but didn't go into much detail about why he was here on this corner of Cockrell Hill Rd. and Interstate 20.
I didn't get many pictures in Dallas-Fort Worth airport since I was heading for a connecting flight but the floor in the SkyTrain station was pretty interesting.
